Richard Stone walked through the stacks of the library, trying to find a book that would capture his interest, but was coming up short every single time. It wasn't that the man was fussy, he just knew what he did and didn't like, and he wasn't liking anything that he was finding.
Leaving the fiction novels, he headed toward the classics and finally went to a chair holding a copy of Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. He lowered himself down in the chair and opened the book, but before he could start reading, his mind began to wonder as he thought about how many of his students would actually complete their assigned homework, or even how many of them would even start it. He wouldn't hold it against those that didn't finish, but those who didn't even start, they would not start the year well - especially if any of those students had remained on campus.
He put the book down on the table that was beside the chair he was using, knowing that reading wasn't going to happen while he was thinking about his classes. Pulling a large notebook out of his case, he opened it up and began to make notes for his classes. He was wondering if he could get his English Literature students to do a project on the game Cludeo.
Zale wasn’t really feeling up to visiting the barn at the moment. He’d glanced that direction earlier and had seen, much to his delight, that Leon seemed to be relaxing more and more, as the horse had been in the process of rolling earlier that day when he’d checked on the Thoroughbred in the paddocks. Why bother a work in progress, he thought. Besides, he was dying to reread a few of his favorite novels, and possibly find a good art book or two, in the library carried them. The blond really needed to get a start on planning his future classes… summer break would be gone before the staff and students knew it, and Zale wanted to be on top of his game.
The young man entered the library quietly, giving a nod to a few of the people around, but mostly he kept to himself as he browsed the shelves, eyes lighting up whenever he came across a title he enjoyed. Zale especially loved cheesy fiction… he had his quirks, and cheesy fiction was one of them. He made mental notes of where a few books he knew he’d want to reread at a later date were located as he pulled the first book in the ‘Hunger Games’ series out from it’s resting place on one of the shelves. He may have read it several times before, and he may have seen the movie twice now, but it was still a favorite read of his, bad grammar and all…
With his set book gripped in one hand, he turned to eyeball the tables for a moment before choosing to sink down into a plush chair instead of one of the hard, uncomfortable ones around the tables.

Closing the book that he had been writing in, Richard stood up and took the novel he had back to the shelf it had come from. He knew that he could have left it on the table and the librarian would have put it away from him, but he would have felt terribly guilty. As he walked back to his chair, his fingers ran across the spines of the books as he browsed over the titles. His fingers bumped into a book that hadn't been pushed in properly. He slid the book out and his eyebrows rose when he saw that it was Lewis Carroll; Alice in Wonderland. He removed the book from the shelf he returned to his chair and once again opened the notebook that contained his lesson plans. Turning it to a blank page, he began to jot down ideas that his English Literature students could do along the lines of working with the book.
The Engligh teacher set to work detailing the lesson plan and the essay he would get the students to write, and he also wrote down all of the resources he would need for the classroom during the lessons, and the fact that he would need a copy of Alice in Wonderland for each of the students, even though he wouldn't be asking them to write a report on the book, but they would need it to refer throughout the lessons. He drummed his pen on the paper as he thought about decorations for the walls, he would need some examples of surrealist paintings from the 1920s and 1930s, as well as smaller copies for the students who wanted them for their own files. He also made a note to go and talk with Monique to see if the drama department owned a white rabbit that he could borrow.
