Hello all, it's auction time again! We've got a large number of wonderful horses up for grabs! Remember to buy fast, because they go quickly. There are 5 horses for sale, of a number of different breeds and colourings, mares and geldings, Western and English. Something to suit everyone's fancy.

**Horses that have already been bought from this auction have been taken out.

Rules

1) You can reserve a horse for 24 hours if you do not have time to post your character buying it. To do so, you may PM an admin or myself and we will make sure the horse is put up for reserve. There will be a time limit though, so post quickly.

2) If a character has made it clear that they want a horse, please do not have your character challenge them unless it is a prearranged plot. It's not exactly fair.

3) Take into account the prices, if your account doesn't have enough money to buy the horse, or more than one horse, that you want, you cannot purchase it.

4) Please remember that your student cannot own more than two horses!

The Personality
Personality: Despite this mare's name, you probably won't be needing any spurs to get her to go. She loves working, and would gladly carry her owner (or anyone that gives her attention) to the ends of the earth. That being said, she can be an attention hog, and gets pushy when she is ignored.
Notes: Caution when working with her, and she needs to be kept busy.

The History
Basic History: Spur was born and raised in a ranch out West, in Oklahoma. She was bought the day after she was born by a ranch hand who fell in love with her. He raised her, but spoiled her a bit too much, causing her pushy nature. When the man moved to Kentucky, he brought the mare with him, despite the fact that she was used to more work-outs than he could give her. Realizing this, he sadly saw her on her way, choosing to sell her at the Blue Ridge Auction. When she wasn't sold, he gritted his teeth and continued caring for her, planning on trying again at the next auction.

The Personality
Personality: Goldy is rather bipolar, in a sense. He has horrible stable manners at times, and tries to attach anyone that gets close enough for him to reach. However, on other days, he's a perfect angel for anything. No one knows quite why he has this problem, but he does. Once he is tacked up, however, he is a wonderful gentleman, at all times. Just watch out for birds, which tend to startle him quite quickly!

The History
Basic History: Not much is known about Goldy's history. He was brought in by a rather tight-lipped man, and it is suspected that he is an unhappy parent who disapproves of his child's riding.

Personality: Hawk is a very gentle mule, despite the stereotype. He can be stubborn at times, but it doesn't happen all too often. He is very easy to bridle and saddle, unless it is raining. He is scared of thunder, and while he won't kick out, he may bolt if he is being ridden. It would be best if he was not left in the pasture during a thunderstorm, for his own safety.

The History
Basic History: Hawk was born and raised on a well-known mule ranch in Vermont. He was trained well, in a variety of events, in an attempt to find his 'calling'. When he was five years old, he was sold to his home, a semi-serious eventer who competed more for the fun than the ribbons. When this rider came into financial difficulties, he started looking for a new home for Hawk. When none presented itself, and things were getting dire, Hawk's owner had no other choice than to leave Hawk at the auction, in the hopes of finding a good home. His specialty was never found, but he is a good horse for basic western riding, and does well in jumping disciplines as well.

Personality: Karter has a whole bunch of energy! He's always on his way from one place to the other, and his world seems to go a mile a minute. This is wonderful for barrel racing, although at times, it can pose a danger in an arena with other horses. He is rather impulsive, and seems not to consider his options before charging off.

The History
Basic History: Karter was born in Australia, and transported to the US before he was backed. More of his history isn't known, because he disappeared off of paper for the rest of his life. After considerable time, he has reappeared at the Blue Ridge auction.

The Personality
Personality: Shard is a very rough mare, but she means it all in fun. She might bump up against someone, but it is meant more as a game than in an interest to hurt someone. She does spook at new things, but once she learns some trust, she will calm down more, and with work, she will acclimate to new things. She learns things rather slowly, but if someone takes the time to teach her, they will find a horse with a good 'cow sense' and a willing heart.
Caution Around: New things, he takes a long time to get 'acclimated', and her!

The History
Basic History: Shard was raised on a large ranch, where things were a bit 'rough and tumble' for a young horse. She learned to get slightly rough, and never learned how much stronger she was than people. She was started under saddle, but when it came to the light that she would take some extra time to learn things, she was sold on.

Personality: Radio's age works in her favour in some cases, as she has already managed to form a set of responses for almost any situation. However, her patience is short with others who waffle over similar situations, which can sometimes spell trouble when she is in an arena with younger horses. When she's not in motion, she's always staring into the distance, never paying attention to what's around her... That makes it really easy to startle her if you approach to fast. Out in the pasture, you'll see her on her own, ignoring the rest of the horses that are around, either grazing or watching what's going on outside.
Notes: Don't approach her too quickly

The History
Basic History: Here, there, everywhere. Radio's never been mistreated, but she's never been left in one place long enough to form an attachment either. She was sold from the farm where she was born at six months of age, spent more than a year in a pasture growing up, was sold again, left to age to two years, before she was moved to a Western training barn for a year. Since returning, as a well-trained horse, Radio's still managed to shift around every half a year to a year. Hopefully, Blue Ridge will be the end of that story, and give her a home where she can keep making friends.

The Personality
Personality: Plot is quite the unpredictable horse. Not in a mean way, but if something other than you catches her attention, it is very easy for her to fall apart, and she'll focus on the new interest. This can be her downfall, especially when she's working with other horses jumping, but keeping her busy can limit these sidetrackings. She's very vocal, always 'expressing' herself, even if there's no one paying attention to her... But how could they not, with the way this girl always finds her way to come and supervise whatever is happening? She's always sticking her nose into what's going on, curious about what anyone might be doing. If she gets put into a stall, she'll destroy it, or just continually let herself out, so this girl lives out on the pastures.
Notes: Hates trailers and enclosed spaces.

The History
Basic History: Plot's life has had quite a number of unexpected twists and turns (Although she's had her show name since long before these happened). She was born in France, where she was raised for two years, before she was sold to be started under saddle. Circumstances sent her owner to America, while Plot was left with his daughter, who continued her training to the best of her ability. However, soon enough, she was sent for, and off to America this mare went. She proved an absolute terror on the ship, finally being calmed through the use of quite a lot of sedative. However, once she was unloaded, they faced a new problem... The mare hated trailers, and any enclosed spaces at all. They managed to get her home safely, but found that she couldn't be kept in a stall. Since pasture living wasn't plausible for her owner, he made the hard choice to sell her.

Personality: Dragan's not your little sweetheart. If anything goes wrong, his first thought is to save himself, with no care for his rider. If you're going to go out trail riding, you had better watch your own head, because he wouldn't recognize a tree branch that might catch his rider. He's also not a huge fan of little children, which developed after he joined his last home. As much as he might be a gelding, he'd rather not spend his time with any other males, tending to align himself with the mares in the group (Although whether they'll accept him is a different story). However, he'll simply stick to himself, not lash out, so even turning him out with geldings works.
Notes: Careful around trees, scared of young children.

The History
Basic History: Out of Cherryhill Park, by The Hunter, Dragan was a star right from the start. By the age of two, he was on his way to training, with a well-known hunter/jumper teacher. He learned with the best, without an intermediate rider between them, and as such, was soon quite the champion. However, all of that changed one day, while he was being led from the barn to the arena. The barn owner's young daughter ran out from behind a row of bushes, startling the gelding and sending him tearing off. Luckily, he wasn't hurt in the incident, but ever since, he has had a fear of young children, but he did have a hard time focusing at the establishment. After working with him to get him used to walking past potential hiding spaces, his owners decided to sell him on, for him to get a fresh start.

The Personality
Personality: Ram's been there, done that... Or at least, you would guess he had! He knows what's expected of him, and strives to do it perfectly, despite his young age. However, that's no excuse for his ground manners, which definitely need some work. He's mouthy, not mean mouthy, but more curious. He'll take anything into his mouth, and nips anyone that comes too close without paying attention. He's not really all too bothered about his rider, either, if you were to fall off, he'd return back home without hanging around. In the pasture, he's the leader of the group, or at least tries to be.
Notes: Careful around any sports balls.

The History
Basic History: Ram has always had a gentle eye, and from the beginning, he was marked for great things. His owner was a small-time horse breeder and owner, just for herself and family, and took pride in the one or two horses that she trained each year, whom she sold on when she found a decent home for them, and felt that they were ready to leave her. Ram was no different, but stuck around a bit longer than other horses, simply because no home was good enough for him, in the eyes of his owner. However, soon enough, he did find a new place to call his own, and was treated as well as could be expected. Not too long after, his owners fell into financial difficulties. Out of contact with his breeder, they had no choice but to sell him, so here he is.

The Personality
Personality: Kovar is, if you were to put it into human terms, a dork. He's relatively smart, but goes about everything in a clumsy way. You can often see him scraping along a post or something, only because he didn't judge the spacing right (Rarely does he hurt himself, though). He's an absolute doll, especially when he is in the company of people. His highest-value treat is a peppermint, but don't feed them too often, because he tends to gain weight easily! One of his quirks is that he hates water, especially on trails or anywhere. He might stand still for a bath, but don't even think about going swimming with him.

The History
Basic History: Kovar's life began on an ordinary working ranch, where he was loved from the moment he managed to stand up. His dam was one of the rancher's favourite mares, and he was her last foal, so he was treated very carefully. However, the rancher came into financial difficulties, and Kovar was sold on, to a home where he wasn't treated as carefully, and was just a trail horse. On a trail ride one day, he was forced into the water, and when his leg was tangled in some underwater weeds, he was forced to remain calm. Since then, he has hated water, especially bodies of water. After a while, his refusal to go in water caused a problem, and he was moved on, and thus, he ended up at the auction.

The Personality
Personality: Olé only ever looks as big as she is when she's not being ridden. With someone on her back, you would be sure that she was a small Thoroughbred. Rather than the time-bomb she was when she first arrive, this mare is now as sweet as honey and will do anything that is asked of her - no matter whether she's being ridden or handled on the ground.
Although not the perfect beginner's mount, she is a great teacher and would suit a rider who is anywhere from novice-intermediate to novice-advanced.
Caution Around: Her. Food (though she is getting better)

The History
Basic History: This mare's training started the day she was born - with the death of her dam. She was given to a mare (who's own foal had just been weaned) and thankfully the foster mother took to the new foal without any problems. Olé was left until she was two and a half before any "proper" training started to take place and she was slowly introduced to a bridle and then a saddle, though she didn't have a rider on her until she was three. She took to having a rider well and as she grew received extensive training and easily schooled over 3'6" jumps.

Trying to keep her beautiful colouring, she was bred to a stunning stallion, but it all fails when she became possessive of her foal and no one could get near mare or foal for another six month when they weaned the foal and separated them. Olé went back to her training. It was a year later that she was stolen and when found at an auction - heavily pregnant - they decided to sell the mare with foal at foot (as they didn't want her to travel any more than she had to while carrying a foal) as the mare they returned to their farm wasn't the mare they knew as her attitude had completely changed.

[Cortney Smit]

Cortney knew that this day was coming, she knew that it would happen, she knew that the mare wasn't going to remain on campus forever, she knew that Dr Carr was going to sell the beautiful bay sabino. However, all of this knowledge didn't make the girl feel like her heart was breaking any less as she sat on the windowsill in her dorm room, tears running down her cheeks as she held her cell phone to her ear, listening as her mother tried to counsel the girl. "It's not fear, Mommy." She whispered. "When I rode her, we knew that we were made for each other." She nodded her head as her mother spoke, even though she knew the woman couldn't see her. "No, you don't have to do that. I just needed to talk. Ok, I'll see you soon." She slid her finger across the phone, ending the call and burst into a fresh torrent of tears as she ran across the room and threw herself onto the bed.

"Beep, beep. Beep, beep."

The girl looked up when she heard Coryn and then noticed that her phone, which she had left on the windowsill, was vibrating. "Who's a clever boy?" She asked as she rubbed the budgie's chin and then walked over to pick up the phone. It was a text from her mother say that they had arrived. Heading into the bathroom, she quickly washed her face and then jogged down to the carpark outside Yellow House and slid into her parents' car. "You really didn't need to come all this way."

He mother gave her a soft smile. "Buckle your belt and let's get going." She said.

"Where are we going?" Cortney asked as she followed her mother's instructions and then realised that it was only her mother in the car. "Where's Dad?"

"You'll see." The woman reversed the car out of the parking space, drove down the driveway and out onto the main road that led into the township of Blue Ridge. Half an hour later, they were pulling into the crammed parking area outside the auction yards.

Cortney got out of the car, slightly unsure of what her mother was up to when a man stepped out from in front of the vehicle and float they were parked beside. "Dad!" She hurried up and threw her arms around the man, who kissed her on the forehead in return and the family then made their way into the auction grounds.

They walked amongst the horses, Cortney stopping every now and then to read the papers of a few of the horses who looked like they could work, but she just didn't feel right. "Why are we here?" She asked her parents.

"To get you a horse, pumpkin." Her father replied as he tussled her hair before she ducked out of his reach. "Just find the right horse for you."

Cortney's shoulders slumped and she felt the grief consume her once more. None of the horses here were the right horse for her, that horse had been sold by the Academy vet the evening before. She drew in a shuddering breath as she continued to walk along. She would at least look at all there was to offer and then tell her parents that there was nothing for her.

"Isn't she a beauty." He mother finally broke into her daughter's thoughts as she nudged the girl and pointed toward the horse in the last yard.

"Yeah." Cortney said before she'd even looked at the horse. "I'm sure she's stun..." The words ended as she lifted her head and looked at the bay sabino mare in the last lot. "Olé?" She asked as she hurried forward and laughed as the mare looked at her and gave a rumbling greeting as she stepped up to the fence and pushed her nose into the girl's hands. "This is her!" She gushed. "I want her!" She couldn't believe that the very mare she had been crying over just hours earlier was standing in front of her.

At the moment the auctioneer stepped forward. "Just picked her up last night." He said, his voice booming and sounding a bit like a used car salesman. "She's got quite the history, great mount for anyone, racks up the scores in the arena."

"We'll take her!" Cortney said, not bothering to call the man the fibber that he was.

The next couple of minutes past in a blur as money and papers exchanged hands and the the girl was leading her horse to the float that was park beside her mother's car. Olé loaded like a dream, and Cortney threw her arms around her horse's neck before she stepped out of the float, they put the ramp up and then headed back to the Academy.

[Ben Hall]

Ben and Joanna Hall had arrived in Blue Ridge early in the morning, and both were feeling the effects of their trip by noontime. In an attempt to stay awake, both mother and son had consumed an extraordinary amount of coffee, but they still felt the fogginess in their minds. After eating lunch at the Blue Waters Restaurant (Ben's mother had insisted), they drove to the fairgrounds were the auction was being held, trailer in tow. 

Ben's vacations back home in the city had gone well, for him at least. He still pretended to hold a grudge against his parents, though the hard feelings had long passed. Still, he put on a grumpy act, knowing that his mother at least would still feel badly about sending him off to boarding school in the middle of nowhere. He was scheduled to be home for a few weeks, so about half a week into the moping, Ben mentioned at dinner that Lady was definitely turning out to be much more of a jumper than a hunter, and that he had skipped the hunter class at his last show since he hadn't thought that the mare would have a chance against other hunters.

His mother had, of course, jumped on it, and the next day at breakfast, she announced that they had decided to buy Ben a hunter. Joanna naturally had the phone numbers of a number of farms in mind that were known for producing top hunters, but Ben noted that there was an auction back at Blue Ridge that he would like to attend. It took all Joanna had not to wrinkle her nose at the thought. She'd never attended an auction, and both Lady and her two hunters had been purchased privately. Nevertheless, Ben pressed on, interested in the different experience. If things didn't go well there, he could find another hunter elsewhere. Sure enough, his visit was cut short, and he and his mother made the trip back to Blue Ridge together.

Joanna Hall was not prepared for the sight that was the auction. Blue Ridge itself was a big change for her, and she looked even more out of place here at the auction. Slim, with jaunty elbows, smooth pulled back hair, and clothes that looked as if they'd never been worn, Joanna was completely out of her element. Sure, she was an equestrian herself, but she was used to only the the polished top layer of the equestrian world. Ben may have turned out the same way had it not been for Blue Ridge, where he had to take care of the majority of Lady's care himself. 

"Come on Mom." Ben said, taking the lead and walking ahead towards the first of the yards. His mother seemed lost, and he didn't want her making a scene. Sure, she was better than his dad, but different than most people here nonetheless. At the first yard, Ben was beginning to think it was a mistake to have come. A Bashkir Curly, the mare was what neither Ben nor his mother were used to. Scanning over the mare's information, he was somewhat relieved to see that she was used for western disciplines, so he could easily move on.

The next mare showed more promise, and was definitely more what they were expecting, though the Selle Français was an eventer, so she definitely wouldn't be a suitable hunter. Now they came upon a couple of geldings who Ben found were both hunters after scanning their information sheets. It seemed as if he had some choices now. The first was an appaloosa, which was an interesting breed for a hunter. The horse was older, and he pinned his ears back when Ben offered his hand towards him. The gelding would definitely stand out in the hunter ring among the other horse, but Ben didn't really think that he'd stand out in the way he wanted to.

The next gelding was certainly a looker. Black with white markings, the Anglo-Arab was the sort of flashy Ben liked in a horse. Ben had been looking for a warmblood or a thoroughbred, but an Anglo-Arab was close enough to a thoroughbred, and Ben could bet the horse was a great mover. He was also young, which Ben liked, though he hoped that the horse wasn't too inexperienced. A good size, Ram also fulfilled Ben's other big concern. The gelding was bigger than Lady, so Ben didn't have worry about being to tall for him. 

Looking to his mom, he could see that she was still concerned, but more impressed than she'd been with the other horses. Turning back to the auctioneer who had approached, he addressed the man, "Do you know how he is under saddle?" He didn't know how much he could trust the man, but hopefully he'd be able to tell if he was lying. Ben liked to think that he was decent at reading people. "A dream." the man assured him, "This one shows a lot of potential." Ben didn't quite trust him, but he looked back to the gelding who was shifting in his yard, standing close to the fence. He'd wandered over when Ben stayed near it, and when Ben reached out his hand, the gelding lipped at it curiously. Smiling, Ben looked back to his mother, "Mom? I want him." His mother looked at him as if he was nuts, but turned to the auctioneer, pulling her wallet from her purse. 

After lots of paperwork, Ben led Ram away from his yard, towards the trailer. "Thanks." he grinned at his mother, who was looking very pale. "We just bought a horse without even trying it." she murmured, looking hopelessly at her son, who was scratching between the gelding's ears. After loading the horse into their trailer, they made their way back to the school to settle Ram in. "He's going to be great Mom, I promise." Ben grinned, his mind speeding way ahead of reason. His mother shook her head, wondering why she hadn't settled on taking a later flight. Perhaps then her thoughts wouldn't have been so muddled by fatigue and caffeine.

[Serenity Oliver]

Serenity sat on the floor of her room in the lotus position, Luna was stretched across her legs as she chatted on her cell phone. "Yes Mom, there's an auction in town... It's not at all that I'm not getting on with Red, it's just that I don't want her to feel used... No, I haven't been down there to look at the horses, I thought that I'd talk to you or dad about it first... So, you don't think it's a bad idea?... Thanks so much mom! Love to you and dad, and all the horses!" She held the phone out and watched the screen go blank after the call ended. She then lifted Luna off her legs and rose to her feet.

Leaving the House, she headed toward the office and caught the shuttle to town and headed toward the fairgrounds. As she was walking, she had no idea how she was going to get a horse home, as she didn't have a float and the walk back to the academy would take her hours. She pressed her lips together at the thought of walking. It was still early in the day, and a long walk wouldn't kill her, but she would need a halter and lead rope.

After a quick stop into Earl's, where she purchased a halter and lead rope in a colour called blue mist a colour that would look good on a mare or gelding, as she wasn't bothered which gender she got, as long as the horse spoke to her. Arriving at the fairgrounds, she suddenly felt nervous, and slightly stupid for walking around carrying a halter and lead, there were horses and pony everywhere of every size imaginable. She read about each one as she walked along, even the ones who were way too short for her had their cards read, but she shook her head at each of them. A lot of them were trained in the wrong discipline, they were too big, needed to diet, needed feeding up, needed more training, couldn't be worked with other horses... They were all wrong. Then she got to the horses that were more her style' again the training was all wrong, or she was worried that she would outgrow them too quickly. She wasn't exactly a short fourteen year old, and nor did she have small feet.

She reached the yard of flaxen gelding. "Hey, aren't you a beaut?" She said as she rubbed the horse's nose, and read through his chart. His training was all good, but that click just wasn't there. She was beginning to feel disheartened, but there were still more horses to look at, so she moved on. She continued her inspection of the horses she passed. She had been hearing a very vocal horse since she had arrived and it was only when she arrived at this horse's yard, a beautiful bay mare, looked at her before letting out another whinny. A smile played on the girl's lips as she looked at the horse, remembering her thoughts about a horse having to speak to her, it seemed that this mare had been speaking to her since the moment she had arrived, she knew instantly that this was the horse she had come here for.

Her lips pressed together as she read through the mare's info. She had no issues with Plot living out in the pastures, the part about her not liking trailers made the girl laugh as she didn't have one of them. She looked up as a kindly looking man approached her. "I want to take this one home." She rubbed the mare's face as she looked the mare over, noticing that her only white marking was a sock on her off hind.

The man frowned. "Do you have a vet handy to sedate her so you can get her onto your trailer?" He asked sensibly.

Serenity smiled and shook her head. "I don't have a trailer." She replied. "I was thinking of walking her back to the Academy." She already had one mare whom had to be sedated to get her home, she didn't feel like putting Plot through the same experience.

The man frowned again, this time in thought and then smiled as he looked from girl to horse and back again. "Very well." He said as he held out a clipboard. "All you need to do is sign on the dotted line."

Serenity took the board and read through the sheet, which was a contract of ownership and the mare's ownership papers under them, and the took the pen and signed the sheets where she needed to. After paying a deposit and making arrangements with the man for her parents to put the rest of the money through to him, and her giving the man all of her details and the details for the Academy. She entered the mare's yard, swapped the black halter the mare was wearing with the one she had purchased and then led the mare from the yard and they began the trek back to the Academy, with the girl making a quick stop into Tastee's so the she could grab a snack for herself, a nice woman held the mare while she ran inside.

Rules

1) You can reserve a horse for 24 hours if you do not have time to post your character buying it. To do so, you may PM an admin and we will make sure the horse is put up for reserve. There will be a time limit though, so post quickly.

2) If a character has made it clear that they want a horse, please do not have your character challenge them unless it is a prearranged plot. It's not exactly fair.

3) Take into account the prices, if your account doesn't have enough money to buy the horse, or more than one horse, that you want, you cannot purchase it.

Personality: This gelding is, in one word, nurturing; he would rather work with his rider then bossed around by his rider. He sees the best in everyone, which could be his main downfall. He has great ground manners and loves all the affection he can get. However, he loves to roll, with or without a rider on board.
Caution Around: Big dogs, though it is advised to keep all dogs in general away from him or him away from them.

The History
Basic History: Pegasus' life began the normal way for most Thoroughbred horses. He was born on a racing stud and was handled as soon as possible. He was rushed through his training and was already working on the track before he was even a yearling and then raced as a "yearling" (he was 18 months rather than 12). His trainer was patient though, and never worked the horses harder then they needed. It seemed though, that by his second year, Pegasus wasn't cut out for racing, and was picked up quite cheap at the market by a woman who wanted a horse for her daughter. Pegasus then moved to a riding barn where he was reprogrammed and trained for dressage and show jumping. His new trainer however, wasn't as gentle and patient as his last trainer and no matter how hard this gelding seemed to work, the train was quick with the slaps, and that is just what Pegasus expected after a while.

He didn't do too well with the girl, didn't place first often enough, and was quickly sent to the auction. Pegasus may have what it takes to be a great horse, with the right kind of rider.

Rarely does he run into you, or even threaten to step on your foot. However, in the saddle, that's a different story. He's rather hard to mount, prone to walking away, or even bucking, so make sure to either have someone hold his reins, or keep a tight hand on him. One of the things you will never have to worry about is him getting dirty, as he's slightly vain, and hates getting dirty. His worst habit is his constant chewing at the bit. Trying to catch him in the pasture is an adventure innen of itself, although if you have some sweet potato on hand, it definitely gets easier.

The History
Basic History: There's not much remarkable about Abe's history. No tragedies, no world-famous performances. He's your average horse, raised on a slightly rough-and-tumble ranch, but he turned out well enough. He was sold at seven years of age, and after two years at his home, his rider has outgrown him, and thus, he bounced to the auction to find a new place to call home.

Basic History: Not a lot is known of the very beginning of Polo's life, though he must have come from breeders as he has the papers to prove it. It seems that he was rushed through his training, and possibly beaten into submission since people aren't his favourite creatures to be around. He was ridden by many people when he was younger, as happens in a riding barn, and because of this learned how to ignore the leg and rein, though as he got older, though as he got older, he worked out that if he did just enough, and no more, that was required of him, people were happy, so this is what he did.

And things went well, until the couple's son decided that they were doing the training all wrong and took over - and since he was a knowledgeable horseman, they believed what he said.
As soon as the colt was weaned, he went and lived with their son and was promptly gelded (which could be where his fear of the veterinarian came from). As much as he wanted to please the person he was working with, Storm was pushed beyond his ability and his spirit was quickly broken. Although still eager to please, Storm developed nasty habits of attacking his handler - in the most subtle way possible' a nip here and here, a kick when he thought he could get away with it.
Trained in dressage and hunter jumping, Storm did well and jumped anything and everything he was pointed at no matter the height, whatever his rider wanted, he would do. However, when he wasn't being ridden, he was confined to his stall, because he was such a hassle to handle, and due to this, the gelding picked up a number of vices to keep himself entertained while being in a box for 22 out of 24 hours in the day.

Luka knew this day was coming, the auction that he had been looking forward to for a while. It was also the first time he was being allowed to buy his own horse and he was thoroughly excited. Aleena and him had placed well in their last show, coming in second in both disciplines, and he was extremely proud of that after going into the arena with no expectations of even placing. Getting out of the truck after his uncle had parked, he went into the auction yard. There weren't many horses, and he looked at each one for a long while. A lot of Quarter Horses it seemed, and he had to exclude the TB he passed when the horse lashed out at Bruno, causing the dog to cower behind his master. Luka's eye caught a warmblood, and instantly the horse's ears pricked forward. Somewhat mouthy, Luka smiled as he petted the gelding. Warmblood, like Aleena, he wished he could ride the horse before hand, but alas, he could not.

Reading through the information he was presented with, he smiled. Polo. He liked the sound of that. The gelding had a solid build, good for eventing, and it seemed like they would be able to work well together. He hoped. Taking to the man that oversaw the auction, a deal was quickly struck, and the papers were signed on behalf of Luka. Money exchanged hands, and it was just like that, that Luka had a new horse. Polo was officially his as he led the horse to the trailer, feeling elated.

[Gretchen Holmes]

Gretchen didn't know what compelled her to come to the auction. She had no intention of buying anything, especially with Bahir being such a handful. If anything, she supposed she'd want a mare, and there was one here. Pretty bay quarter horse mare, but she was a western horse and Gretchen didn't rein or ride western. As she walked further down the line, she saw many pretty horses. One steel grey appendix quarter horse really caught her eye, but she passed him anyway. She wasn't here to buy anything, she continued to remind herself. Besides, the horse looked to be as much trouble as Bahir was. She could hardly handle one Bahir, she didn't need two.

She reached the last horse, which was actually the first in the lineup. He was a big black, almost beastly looking thoroughbred. She watched him snap at a dog that passed by, then stand quietly. She approached him, holding out her hand to him. He sniffed at her before nuzzling her hand gently. Wasn't he a sweetheart? She groaned, she didn't come to buy but, she just couldn't leave this ottb here! She rubbed his nose before heading over to where the auction was taking place.

He was the first led out, and immediately she began trying to buy him, shouting numbers. The gelding seemed to watch her, and she let out a huge sigh of relief when she won him, for the measly price of $20. She practically flew out of the stands of claim the horse, taking his papers and handing over the money. She ran her hand down the gelding's neck and smiled, "Don't worry, you're coming with me," she said quietly. She looked at his papers, Pegasus. Perhaps this black Pegasus could help her calm down her own white one back at the school. She smiled, he wasn't the mare she's hoped for, he was even better. She felt positive she would not regret this decision.

Chris felt his heart racing as he parked the truck. He was hopefully going to buy a horse. Finally! He'd left Ana at the academy, figuring a horse auction was no place to bring any animal other than a horse. He had borrowed a trailer from an old family friend that'd moved to the area, and was now fully prepared to go find himself a horse. He had a strong hope for a horse trained in anything Western. While he knew how to ride English-a majority of his riding time had been English-he preferred to ride Western. As he approached the stalls, a strong kicking reached his ears. He followed the sound and ended up outside the stall of a bay mare. She looked over to him with curious eyes. Seeing he wasn't offering anything, she turned back to her business of kicking the stall. Chris shook his head. She wasn't for him. He continued on.

The next stall contained a grey. Something unnerved him about the horse. He wasn't sure what it was, but continued on. A black tobiano, still no. Another grey, and then a black. Chris found himself circling back to the second grey. He watched the gelding until the auction started. He was the second horse out. The male began calling out numbers. He hadn't been sure how much to bring, and had ended up with twenty. And the bid raised to nineteen. "Twenty!" Chris called. He clenched his eyes shut, half expecting somebody to yell twenty one. But nobody did. He opened his eyes, and soon found himself accepting the horse's papers.

"You may want to buy some sweet potatoes," The man commented as he left Chris with the gelding. Chris simply smiled as he led Abe to his borrowed trailer. There were no words to describe his joy. The gelding seemed well behaved, but Chris figured there was something else that kept the price so low, something he wasn't yet aware of. He wouldn't let it bother him. Because he finally had a horse of his own.

Personality: Chéri’s a complete doer; no matter what is asked of her, or how high the fence is, she will power forward and tackle whatever is in front of her. You could say she’s a bit of a risk-taker. The only sad part about this is that she will also stand where she is until she is given the cue to move off again, even if this means standing still for hours (as was found out after she was turned out into a pasture for the first time after being purchased).
This little mare can’t handle a veterinarian being anywhere near her, even if she’s not getting the check-up, and will tremble and be covered in sweat within moments.
She loves being groomed and has great manners on the ground and under the saddle, though she does need a red ribbon in her tail to warn others not to get too close. Even out in the pasture with other she needs her space and will kick out if anyone invades her personal bubble.

Caution Around: Spooks when she sees or hears four-wheelers

The History
Basic History: Chéri’s life started really well on a Poney Français de Selle stud. Her dam was a purebred while her sire was a Connemara pony, the two chosen for their wonderful well-roundedness – something the owners hoped the foal would inherit. However, the owners would never know the abilities of the foal as the barn caught fire one night and when the flames were brought under control a number of the horses – mainly pregnant mares and the Connemara stallion – had vanished, so the police put the fire down as suspicious and an investigation started.

Chéri was born in a backyard breeding establishment and her dam was quickly put back into foal, which didn’t leave any room for the tiny foal at foot and the filly was passed on to a foster mare, who accepted the filly happily. Though the establishment obviously wanted money for the filly as they registered her shortly after her birth.

It is unknown when the filly’s training started, but from her current personality, it can be assumed that she was broken early and harshly trained to stand when she was told to, no matter the temperature or what she had been doing beforehand.

The History
Basic History: Spur was born and raised in a ranch out West, in Oklahoma. She was bought the day after she was born by a ranch hand who fell in love with her. He raised her, but spoiled her a bit too much, causing her pushy nature. When the man moved to Kentucky, he brought the mare with him, despite the fact that she was more used to ranch work than stable work. Realizing this, he sadly saw her on her way, choosing to sell her at the Blue Ridge Auction.

Her owners were a doting elderly couple that used her just for trail rides, and in the summer, their granddaughter taught her the basics of dressage. Now the old lady passed away, and she is being sold on.

However, not many of those came true, as he turned out to be very friendly, and focused more on making friends at a competition than doing the best that he could. For eight years, he bounced from owner to owner, each trying to get him to focus. However, none managed, so he was bounced into the Auction.

The History
Basic History: Cisco was born and raised on a tiny, horrid farm. He was kept in a small stall that was barely big enough for him to stand in, let alone lie down in. When he was two, a horse rescue found him and freed him. He was at first scared by the large amounts of open pasture, but soon grew to love them. He still doesn't trust humans, and has been bounced around from home to home, looking for someone to finally try and bond with him.

The Personality
Personality:
    Sophie is inquisitive, clever, and playful. She still acts like a foal, and wants everyone to play with her all the time, which older horses do not always appreciate. Curious, she gets into anything she can, and is know to undo any latch that is not reinforced with a clip or "horse-proof" latch, though it won't be long before she figures out the "horse-proof" latches as well, at the rate she's going. Sophie is sweet, but a little mouthy, and always wants to be in everyone's business. She's easily interested in everything, and doesn't possess the "mare-ish" qualities that horse owners often try to avoid. She will try to make friends with anyone who happens to walk by, and quickly becomes a favorite in any barn. Sophie is still very young, but she's a quick and eager learner. 
    Having been trained primarily by Cora to be a hunter, Sophie has a good headset and goes nicely. She's a great mover, and just needs a rider to reassure her when jumping, as she is young and fairly new to it. She jumps hunter courses comfortably, and is very scopey, so she will prove to be a very successful hunter.
Caution Around: Doors, Gates, and Latches. Sophie has a clever habit of undoing any latch she can reach. She won't go far, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Any gate or stall doors should be fixed with a "horse-proof" latch or clip.

The History
Basic History:
    Sophie was born on an Oldenburg farm in Germany of a well-known show jumping stallion and hunter/jumper dam. Like most of the foals from that year's crop, she was quickly sold off to another facility that raised her and gave her the small amount of under-saddle training that she now has. She stayed there until she was five, longer than most of the other prospects, and was eventually bought as a prospect by Magnolia Acres Farm, a Hunter/Jumper farm in Virginia. There she was given the same training that all prospects get, and her abilities were assessed. The plan was to train the mare along with the other prospects to the point where she was a competition horse. She would then be sold to one of the barn's customers. This plan was interrupted when Cora Addison, the Hunter and Jumper teacher at Blue Ridge Riding Academy, contacted her former farm about buying a prospect, and she chose to purchase Sophie. Now, Sophie was trained at Blue Ridge Riding Academy as a Hunter/Jumper, and Cora hoped to eventually sell her, hopefully to one of Blue Ridge's students once Sophie had been trained as a show hunter.
    Sophie is now trained and though green, she's fairly show ring ready for any ambitious hunter rider. She still has a ton of potential that an intermediate or advanced rider could unlock, and novice riders are advised to take caution, as Sophie can still be a bit unpredictable.

Teaming up a pair of black denim shorts with a pink sleeveless top, Libby swung her black fringed handbag over her shoulder and headed out to the academy van that was heading into the town. She couldn't wait until she turned sixteen and could apply for her license. Stepping into the van, she quickly found a seat, after kicking a girl out of it, and settled in for the ride into town.

Getting out of the van, she walked past the shops, even though the thought of having her daddy's credit card did make her want to go on a little shopping spree, and made her way down to the fairgrounds, where there was currently an auction in place.

Walking around the yard, she studied each horse, reading about them and quickly curling her nose at the Western trained horses and completely ignored the pathetic pony she saw.

After she had been around all of the horses, she had three prospective horses that she was keen on, two geldings and a mare, though she was worried that the mare and one of the geldings would be too tall for her five feet. She walked around the horses again, spending a little time with the bay mare and then the bay gelding, chatting with both of them, running her hands down their faces. "I'm just looking, thanks." She told the people standing near both horses and she moved on.

Walking over to the food caravans, she bought herself a hotdog and fries and sat down to have her lunch while she thought about which of the horses she was going to go home with.

After she had finished her food, her mind was made up and she charged through the auction lost until she got to the horse that she was going to take home. "Here's my credit card." She said as she handed the gold card over to the man standing by the gelding's yard. "I'm taking Storm home with me."

Personality>> Wendy's very excitable, especially around new obstacles, be that a strange jump or a tree next to the trail that looks strange. She's very mouthy and will chew at anything that's near her mouth, be that her reins, or a human's clothes. Even skin, occasionally, if she can get a mouthful, so be careful around her! She also has a tendency to roll when she's asked to stand for too long, with or without rider. However, this mare also has her good sides. She's easy to catch, and will gladly lower her head to be bridled or haltered, and accepts the bit with no problems.

Basic History>> Wendy was raised with an ordinary set of bloodlines though her owners saw something a little bit extraordinary to try and train her in eventing. The mare was born and raised on the same farm so it is most likely she picked up all of her quirks from there. She was raised in a herd setting with eight other older horses to be around she was put on the bottom rung of the pecking order, with her age and childishness. She was never desensitized to the normal things, though she is a quick learner and is still learning that something a normal as a tree will not reach out and bite her. With her being at the bottom of the pecking order all her life she picked up some biting behaviors to either get someone’s attention or put them in their place. There were a few new horses in and out of her barn and she made the most of it and attempted to put them in their place, it worked until they were sold. Her owners never really took to correcting it, so here she is biting people and other horses for the heck of it. She gets bored easily and so her rolling came into play, she needs to have something to do, whether it is just walking around or flying over jumps. Unfortunately her owners were getting older and with her being a risk for safety some many say she was put up for sale.

Personality>> Who's that horse playing out in the pasture like a foal? Oh, it's just Spill. This gelding absolutely loves playing when he's let loose, whether that's with other horses, or playing keep-away when someone comes to catch him! He'll chase a leaf across the pasture if he's on his own, too, or play with any little creature. He hates jumps with a vengeance, refusing to go near them. Even being in the same arena with anything raised above the ground is iffy, so it's a good thing this boy is trained in Western disciplines! He has a tendency to be very vocal about everything, be it his dinner or a fly buzzing past.

Basic History>> Spill was weaned at the right age, sold to a snotty little fourteen year old that believed she could train any horse. Well that is of course until she got to Spill. She put a saddle on him broke him to ride though that was not the problem. Spill proved to have to jumping skill, but his ‘trainer’ thought otherwise once she took him over a few. He rushed up, no thanks to her, she quickly reprimanded him for it and that’s how his training continued until one day he was done with it. The girl had beaten him with a crop for the last time, he skidded to a halt and the little brat vaulted over the jump herself, even though some could say she might have over jumped it and needed to be beat with a crop. That was it for the girl she told her father that she had never been thrown from a horse and that Spill needed to be sold. So he was to a kinder more understanding woman. Though she did not know how to help him along in his English ways she quickly tested him out under a western saddle. That did the trick and even since he has been ridden with a western saddle. Unfortunately the woman does not have time for Spill any longer and had to put him up for sale.

Personality>> You'll definitely know when you've taken Shade's bridle off, because he'll start rubbing his head on the closest thing he can reach, even if that's you! He's very much a thinker, working his way through situations and finding the way to get what he wants. This makes him relatively easy to train, intentionally or not. He absolutely adores water, and will amuse himself by blowing bubbles into his water dish in his stall if he gets the chance. Out on the trail, watch out for rivers, or you might find yourself going for a swim! He does forget to change leads often, and cantering on him can be interesting, although he'd getting better about it.

Basic History>> Shade was born and raised to be a pacer as were his parents. He was trained at a young age and the training showed as when he began his career he was quite good. Though he did not go out and win every single race he was entered in though he did place fairly well among his sport. Shade did well in meets up until around his eighth birthday, he lost badly in a few races. Accompanied by him being an older horse in the racing world he was sold to a man who owned a few English trained horses. His wife and daughters rode in a few shows and thought that Shade would be a good prospect horse for his eldest daughter to retrain. She took her time and got him used to a saddle on his back. She took him over some jumps during a free lunging session to see what he could do. She was impressed with him taking to the jumps so easily. She decided that she would train him over smaller jumps so he could carry his own weight in a hunter/jumper show. She also got him used to equitation since he had a nice form in all of his gaits. Dressage came last and it is quite noticeable, he is a little clumsy with his movements in the dressage arena, but he is getting there. Seeing as though all of the man’s daughters grew up and left Shade was put up for sale.

Personality>> Nessus is predictable in only one thing, and that's the fact that he's really, really unpredicatble. He's very pushy and forward, having never learned proper manners, either from humans or from horses. He can be such a pain that he'll bully others in the pasture, and in general fights to the point were either he or the other horse ends up in cuts and worse (he's large, though. So it's usually the other horse). But then again, he's not much better in his stall, because he hates confinement. He'll kick at the wall to the point of injury, and in general attempt to free himself. He runs from being caught, and otherwise doesn't lead much nicer once you do finally get a halter on him. He knows he's big, he knows he's stronger than you, and he isn't afraid to use it.

Basic History>> Where to start with this hooligan? Nessus was raised in a too nice and too kind setting. His owners were new to the whole owning a horse situation and pretty much let him get away with everything, because they thought he was just playing. WRONG. Nessus was a stallion until the age of four, certainly enough time to get the testosterone flowing. The inexperienced buyers thought they were saving him and giving him another chance as from what they gather he was heading to the slaughter house. They thought ‘oh! We’ll just get him castrated and he’ll be a great gelding.’ Well they were right on one part, he was in fact a gelding, though he was far from great. He began getting mean and pushy, he nearly trampled his female owner. That was the last straw and Nessus was put on the market.
