The Personality
Personality:
Tally is sweet for the most part, but she is also a one person horse. To Ronan, she is affectionate and sweet, though she is not as trustful with everyone else, and has been known to be a bit of a brat with others who try to work with her. She can be sassy, like any mare, but means no harm really. Under saddle, Tally is honest and sensitive. She won't refuse jumps, but rather, trusts her rider to get her over them properly, so it's important to have a smart, confident rider on her so that they don't get into trouble. Tally can get powerful, but she'd not difficult to get back, and has lovely collected gaits as well as a wonderful headset. She prefers soft hands and a still rider who won't over-ride, so to say. Being touchy, she needs minimal contact when turning, and her rider need only rearrange his weight and touch her reins for her to turn. Therefore, if asked too strongly, she'll drop her shoulder and lean, which can be dangerous, and one needs to be careful in show jumping classes. Her favorite phase is cross country, though she does well in the other phases as well. She will occasionally buck, but it's nothing to worry about with an experienced rider. She also has gotten mild colic when the weather turns cold in the fall, and when worked hard in the summer.
Caution Around: Unfamiliar people working with her (She'll test their boundaries.)
The History
Basic History:
Tally was born on the McAleese's farm, to Flirting with Fate, a Holsteiner mare, and was sired by a well known thoroughbred eventer. Flirt, her dam, was Ronan's mother's favorite horse, and she gave birth to Tally a year after the woman's death. Ronan was around all all of the foals on the farm, but he took a particular liking to Tally, and she became his favorite of the horses. His father allowed him to help as best he could with all her training, and Ronan would spend any free time he had with Tally. Ronan's father gave the filly to Ronan as his personal horse rather than selling her along with the other trained eventers. Having grown up with the mare, Ronan is very close with Tally, and they have an inseparable bond. They learned together, growing better and better, and teaching each other as well. They have competed a bit and done well, but Ronan chooses not to compete a lot, and rather focuses on bettering himself and Tally individually.
