Katja wanted to take advantage of her free time, and had already gotten halfway through grooming Mukki outside, in the nice fall weather, his mane braided through with turquoise, his saddle and leg wraps in place. Leaving him with the instruction to stand, she made her way into the barn once more, to change into the jodhpurs and turquoise show shirt. After tucking her hair into a hairnet, which featured a sparkling bow, she grabbed her helmet and white gloves, frowning as she spotted a further mark on them.
Returning to her gelding, or where she'd left him, she had a moment of panic as the empty hitching post came into view. However, as she looked around, she spotted the beast, a couple of meters over, head down as he cropped the grass near the barn. Sighing, she walked over, taking hold of the lead that he'd untied, “Wirklich? Muss das sein?” The gelding raised his head obligingly, and followed her back to the hitching post, although there was no repentance in him, “Bleib da.” After tying the gelding down, she turned to grab his bridle from where she'd draped it, switching Mukki's halter down to around his neck before getting him to accept the bit.
Katja checked the gelding's overall appearance, then looped the reins over his head. Taking the reins, she rubbed his neck, whispering briefly to him, before she led him away from the barn, towards the outdoor dressage arena. Once she had entered, she tightened the gelding's girth, then mounted, asking him to walk around the edge of the arena for a couple of rounds before she began getting into his proper warmup.
