Monique held a script for the Phantom of the Opera in her hand as she walked onto the stage of the auditorium. She knew, from last year's production, that the room had the most amazing acoustics, and the students had hardly needed the mics they wore when the belted out the songs for Beauty and the Beast.
She gave a wistful smile as she looked at the script in her hand. It had been the play that she had taken the lead in when she was in college, though the memories of it were both a blessing and a curse. As it was through her getting the part of Christine, that the professor in charge had manipulated her into having an affair with him and she had ended up pregnant with Aurora. Although she would like to have changed the after effects - that Rory would have actually had a father in her life - she wouldn't give back the wonderful gift that was her daughter for anything in the world.
Kicking off her shoes, she left them at the side of the stage as she walked onto centre stage and, still holding the script, moved into fifth position. She then began to dance through the first scene while the ballet girls were rehearsing for Hannibal, except she hit all of her ronds de jambe and temps de cuisse (which the dancers in the play were supposed to intentionally mess up). She had learned ballet for the performance, and it was something she only did in private.
