Blue Ridge is a fictional town located deep in the heart of Kentucky. It is home to one of the most well known equestrian academies in the United States. Students and staff from all over the world join the academy for what it has to offer. Do you have what it takes to join us and learn from the Academy?

Nietzsche wrote; “Hope is the worst of evils, for it prolongs the torments of man.”
Cara wrapped her arms around her stomach as she entered the library. She had almost completed her first year at the Academy and was feeling more than a little nervous about the plans that her social worker would have to fill in the next three months of her life. She knew that he liked to keep her busy, idle hands and all that, and it was the thought of his version of keeping her busy that worried her the most.
As she walked through the stacks, browsing the spines of the biographies she was walking past, she was hoping that the man would allow her to remain on campus. As long as Coach Hoefflin was remaining on campus, she could continue her gymnastics, she could continue to work her assigned pony and also give her time to work Ember and Wisp, she could even offer to work the smaller of the mounted games ponies so that none of the equines lost condition by having three months of doing nothing. Though, it was Cara, so she would do it if it was suggested to her, but she would never find the courage to ask.
She paused as she looked out of one of the windows that looked out over the campus, she knew that hoping for things was as useful as wishing her parents were still alive. She would just need to wait and see what the man had decided was going to happen over summer vacation.

Whereas poor Cara was busy fretting and hoping to stay on the academy campus over summer break, Cassian was pining for the opposite as he wandered the library isles, seemingly on some sort of book seeking mission intended to keep his mind occupied and his body moving. He'd only been at Blue Ridge for a few weeks now, but it hadn't taken long for a deep sense of home-sickness to dig into his heart like a set of iron claws. He missed his family terribly and wanted to go back home to Spain, at least until the end of summer, but unfortunately things were still rather...strained...at the ranch, so that simply wasn't an option even if his mother could afford to put him on a plane.
He'd just have to learn to cope with his new surroundings and all the strangers until the winter holidays. It helped a bit having Aurica here to work with though. The mare's familiarity and companionship was undoubtedly comforting, but much to Cassy's dismay he couldn't spend all his time in the saddle or sulking around the stable, and let's just say that he hadn't been very successful with making friends... Or even talking to people for that matter. Not that he had made much of an effort to try in the first place... Socializing just wasn't his forte. Never had been.
Despite the fact that Cassian found that with so many students gone on vacation it was easier to avoid his least favorite activity, try as he might there were times when mingling was inescapable. Time like now, when you accidentally brush against someone on your way past them and have to stop to apologize. "P-pardon me..."

Cara wrapped her arms around her stomach as guilt gripped her, a common reaction every time she thought of the parents she couldn't remember. Though she would never tell anyone, the guilt would always be there, for it wasn't for her there is a chance that Mikoto and Illoynda would still be alive. She shook her head to banish the feeling, as it wasn't doing her any good, and thinking about a time she couldn't even remember was pointless. It was the fact that she remembered every other thing she wished she could forget that made it the hardest.
She shivered as she walked away from the window and headed back between the stacks of books, looking at titles, just waiting to see if anything would jump out at her. She brushed her thumbs against the pads of her fingers, wondering if she could actually pick a book up, or would that irrational issue she had about touching something many other people had touched stop her - one of the main reasons she was glad she didn't have to worry about handling money.
She paused in the psychology section of the library, looking though the titles of the books, wondering what the class would be like come fall. Since she had requested a change in some of her subjects. She figured that if she was going to be so compliant when it came to the demands from her social worker, she would at least see if she could get a little reward. She wrapped her arms around her again as he pressed her lips together, not wanting to think about the man.
She sucked in a breath, as one would to scream, when someone brushed up against her. "Sorry!" She gasped in her whisper-soft voice as she turned wide grey-yellow eyes toward the person who had also spoken an apology.
