When nothing feels all right
Personality>>♒ Confident
Head high, shoulders back, Sina knows what she's doing, and she's not afraid of anyone. Need to go talk to someone? Sure, not a problem. Someone trying to take her down a peg? They can try all they'd like, unless they hit upon the sore spot that is her diabetes. The one chink in this girl's armor is her condition, which she is still afraid of at times, and sometimes worries that she's not managing correctly, so attacks in that direction are sure to hit home.
♒ Approachable
This confidence draws people to Sina like flies. And why not? She rarely puts others down unless they deserve it, or she's joking, and her face is open, usually graced with a smile. The dog at her side is less of an issue for her to talk about, and even when asked about him, she'll speak openly, although she might not want to go into personal details about her diabetes.
♒ Charming
When you actually do approach Sina, you'll find her to be relatively nice, even if you annoy her in the beginning. She's friendly and willing to talk, and actually enjoys meeting new people, although she can sometimes come off as rather snobby due to her position at her old school.
♒ Direct
Sina's hard to get a read on. Sometimes, she'll be direct, and sometimes, she won't. If something needs fixing or changing, she's not afraid to say something, but if she doesn't like someone, they may not know until they get onto her last nerve and she gets mad at them. That is, unless you push her about her diabetes, in which case, it's a straight shot to her bad books.
♒ Excitement-Driven
The one thing that will get Sina interested is excitement. She hates the everyday things that she has to do, classes, even riding sometimes, but if there's something different going on, it's a definite way to capture her attention and interest. If she's interested, she'll throw herself into something 100%, but if she's not... Sometimes it's hard for her to fake excitement.
♒ All-Around
Sina has never been able to specialize in one thing, simply because of the excitement factor. Even in riding, she loves trying everything possible. As she always tries everything in any sport that she tries, and tends to be proficient in everything, rather than advanced at one thing. The one thing that this is different for is reining, the one riding sport that she learned and loved, and excelled in, as shown by quite a few of her trophies from local and state shows.
♒ Temperamental
Moods? Oh, yes, Sina has them. Quite a few of them, actually. They tend to change from one moment to the next, sometimes without warning or cause, sometimes because of the smallest thing, and sometimes, because of a major occurrence. It's possible to find her being mad one moment and chuckling at a horse's antics the next, or be talking and have her get annoyed by something on the peripheral. There's no real getting a read on her in that sense.
♒ Logical
One thing follows another, and that's how Sina's mind works. She can't jump from one thing to another as quickly as some might, but she'll definitely get to the right answer in the end through a series of steps, all of which make sense. Logic puzzles and convergence tests are a breeze for her, but give her a divergence test and she'll do terribly.
♒ Assertive
Through all of that, Sina knows what she wants, and will work towards getting just that. When she's still motivated for her projects, there's nothing that can stand in her way, and as anyone that tries to put her down because of her companion knows, she's got a mouth and the knowledge to back it up... It's usually easier just to let her do as she'd like.

♒ The last time her mother took her up to see her father, after their fight over the phone, Sina fed his personal horse Valerian, knowing that the mare would be tested for drugs at the next day's endurance competition.
You don't know what it's like
Appearance>>♒ Body
When you look at Sina, there's no doubt that you're looking at an athlete. Her body is lithe and willowy, the muscles that she has not prominent, although there's no doubt that they're present. Her flexibility, honed through her attention to detail when she trains, is evident even in her walk. Standing at 5'7", she's slightly above average in height, although she's not tall enough to stand out in a crowd. Her weight, at 125 pounds, is good for her size, and she's never struggled with eating.
♒ Hair
Originally, Sina's hair is a light orange. People often ask what color she uses to dye it, but the truth is, that's just how it grows. While she's considered dying it before, she enjoys the strange color, which matches her overall look rather nicely. It hangs down to about her mid back in slight waves when it's left to do its own thing, although Sina will style it rather often. When she's riding or in class, it's usually pulled back or up, but when she's simply out and about, it usually hangs open around her shoulders.
♒ Eyes
Looking to know how Sina is feeling? Her light grey eyes are rather expressive, and she doesn't bother to hide what she's thinking. Whether they're sparkling with laughter or hard as steel, it's a general gauge of what's going on behind them. They are relatively wide naturally, although the makeup that Sina rarely leaves home without enhances without overpowering their beauty.
♒ Skin
Naturally pale, Sina has to worry about her skin relentlessly. While she doesn't tan easily, she burns relatively quickly, especially when she forgets to put on sun lotion. However, she avoids issues by staying in the shade, or wearing a hat when she's out and about. Regular washing makes sure that her skin is smooth and glowing, and only a few small birthmarks mar the surface along her arms and legs.
♒ Style
Whatever Sina wears, she wears with confidence. She prefers pants to skirts, although once in a while, she does show up in a dress. Jeans and a nice blouse are usually what you'll find her wearing, although she saves the truly flashy stuff for shows. Her makeup is almost constantly present, but applied with a light hand.
Markings>> Sina has had her ears pierced once. She bears a few scars on her arms from various encounters with bushes and trees, but most are paper-thin and hardly visible.

Medical History>> Diagnosed with T1 Diabetes at age 4. Apart from that, the normal childhood illnesses, a visit to the emergency room after falling off of her horse learning to do sliding stops, although she only fractured a rib.
T1 - Monitored by CGMS (Constant Glucose Meter System) and diabetic alert dog, FSGM (Finger Stick Glucose Monitoring) for confirmation, sugar and protein used for hypoglycemic episodes, insulin administered before every major meal (needle/syringe) as well as for highs, glucagon kit carried in case of emergencies (syringe with diluent, bottle with medicine. Injected in case of unconsciousness, call for emergency medical personnel appropriate).
Criminal History>> None! Her mother would kill her if she got into trouble.
Full History>>♒ Birth
Sina was really born into a normal home. Her father worked as a barn manager in the Tuolumne Meadows Stables, in Yosemite, while her mother stayed at their home in Groveland, having given up her work in dog training to take care of her daughter. Her father came home when the stables were closed for the winter, as well as his days off, although it wasn't unusual for his wife, along with his new-born daughter, to come up and hang around the park while he was working. Of course, it was only natural that Sina was sitting on a horse long before she could walk, being led around the stable grounds by her father while he waited for the next group to arrive.
♒ Childhood
At the age of nearly four years of age, Sina began showing strange symptoms, including drowsiness and a wine-like breath. Her father accused her mother of giving their daughter some wine to taste, the first time it was noticeable, but as it continued, even he had to admit that that couldn't be the cause. One day, Sina's mother took her to see the doctor, and after a battery of blood tests, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Of course, being too young to take care of herself yet, the caution fell to her parents... Something that her father couldn't handle. He had been happy with his 'perfect' life, and having a 'sick' daughter that he had to take care of just didn't fit into that. It took almost half a year, however, before the fights got to be too much for her mother, who filed for a divorce, something that her father didn't even try to fight.
♒ Elementary School
For a while, it was just Sina and her mother, who had begun training dogs again to bring in some income. However, by the time she was six, her mother had met someone new, a man that would become Sina's father, if not biologically, at least in everything else. He was a horse trainer and a reining champion, coming to see the woman about possibly training a dog to keep the foxes out of his property... And they fell in love. It took almost a year before they approached the idea of marriage, but by that time, Sina was already calling the man 'daddy', and had learned to ride again, sitting on his old retired mare. Indeed the two got married, in a small ceremony, and moved to the outskirts of Merced, where Sina grew up. By the age of ten, she had her diabetes almost completely in her own control, or as much as anyone could possibly control it.
♒ Middle School
By the time she'd turned eleven, Sina was riding competitively in the junior circles, following her adoptive father's footsteps, using one of his horses, although she always spent her birthday and Christmas wishes on a horse of her own. While she had to keep a closer eye on her blood sugar in the barn, due to the physical exercise she was doing, she continued, simply trying to be more careful while not allowing it to stop her. However, inevitably, it would go wrong the one day where she wasn't paying careful attention, and Sina passed out from hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Luckily, her adopted dad was just coming around the corner, and while he couldn't prevent the bumps and scrapes, he knew where to find her glucagon injector.
The issue was enough to rattle the complacency that Sina had had about her condition, and when her mother carefully brought up the subject of teaching a dog to help her, Sina listened, and ended up agreeing, on the condition that she would be allowed to help pick and train the dog. Her mother agreed, and so the search began. When she asked her father about coming to visit him for once, his reasons for leaving her mother came out, and Sina hung up, distressed, and yet angry at her father, for he still blamed her for ruining his 'perfect' life. Deciding that she had never needed him before, she decided to never think of him again, and poured her anger into passion for her reining practices, as well as her reason for training her service dog, to prove that she could just as well deal with her own problems. One of her friends asked her about a tumbling camp before eighth grade began, and Sina agreed to try it, although she wasn't sure about the idea. However, it proved a welcome distraction, something that neither of her parents could critique her on, and she spent some time with it, although it always came secondary to everything else.
♒ High School
Sina convinced her mother that she would be fine on her own now, with Recho at her side. While Recho was still not fully trained, they knew that he would finish training within the next two months, and so, when applications for Blue Ridge came around, Sina's parents half-heartedly allowed her to apply. Sina and Recho finally met all of Mrs. Aleardi's public access standards about a week before Sina finished eighth grade, and their first public appearance as partners was the promotion ceremony. While the dog had come with her to school a number of times (with permission of the administration), he finally moved out of training, and Mrs. Aleardi felt him ready, and so it was. Now, the team is off to Kentucky, although Sina had to promise to call home every week with a full report of how things were going.
Welcome to my life
Pet Name>> Recho (Derecho)
Registered Name>> Heart of the Typhoon, CGC, CGCA

Gender>> Neutered Male
Species>> Canine
Breed>> German Shepherd/X mix
Registry>> AKC Canine Partner, AKC CGC, AKC CGCA, C.L.A.S.S. B.A./M.A./Ph.D.
Personality>> Recho has two different personalities, although it's easy to see that he's the same dog (How many merle shepherd-type dogs have you seen, anyway?). When he's working, wearing his halter and harness, he's more calm and focused, although he can still sometimes be distracted by the food being dropped around him, something that Sina continues to work on. While off-duty, he's still a rambunctious puppy, dancing around, asking everyone for attention. He's a prime example of a dog that can focus and behave, but still have a good time. He tends to be a chaser and a wrestler when playing, and has no issue at all playing bitey-face! Very little throws him off, although sometimes he tends to 'huff' when he's bored, another habit that Sina continues to work on. Whatever else he may be, it's quite obvious that he's got shepherd in him, his build and alert demeanor proving it. He alerts to Sina's lows with a nudge and a down position, while a high results in a nudge-paw motion. When Sina sleeps, he's trained to wake her before alerting properly.
History>> No one knows exactly where Recho came from. He was just found wandering around near the animal shelter in Merced at an estimated year of age, and when Sina and her mother went to find a candidate, they were immediately drawn to him. His name came later, following a unit in storms in one of Sina's classes, but something about the canine's demeanor showed that he was a viable candidate for a girl that didn't want a purebred. It took quite an evaluation for Sina's mother to be satisfied, but in the end it was worth it, with Derecho beating the wash-out odds. It took him the better part of two years to complete his training, and finally, he was 'promoted' to being a full service dog.
Appearance>> Blue Merle with White {Height: 26 Inches - Weight: 84 Pounds - Eyes: Brown} {Harness and Patch (Cranial end of handle) | Patch (Left/Outside Pocket) | Patch (Right Pocket) | Leash | Collar | Headcollar}
