Personality>> Cas was aptly named even from a foal (although at the time, he was named for his coloration). He can be a complete dragon to people he doesn't know. He is very much a one person horse - He does best with an established bond, and bonds strongly to his primary handler. He takes his confidence from his handler's, and is easily influenced by their emotions.
He still has his quirks from the accident that ended up bringing him to Blue Ridge, but he's working past them with time. He still doesn't like things shifting under him, like moving trailers.

Basic History>> Cas was born at a Lusitano farm (as with most lusitanos) and then sold on as a yearling to a trainer looking to prepared their next competition horse. He was quite talented, and by five years old showing real promise. They started traveling further and further for shows, and on the road is where the unthinkable happened.
An unthinking driver in the next lane changed lanes right in front of the trailer, giving the driver no time to brake. The trailer flipped over, and it took emergency personnel almost an hour to stabilize the scene and finally remove the horse from the wreckage of the trailer. Miraculously, he suffered only minor physical injuries. However, his trainer/owner wasn't as lucky, and faced with lots of physical rehab and a horse that couldn't even load into a trailer safely, he chose to reach out to Dr. Carr at Blue Ridge about helping him out. He relinquished ownership to the academy at that time.
So, Flamecaster came to Blue Ridge, and Karina was chosen to work with him. At the end of the class, Karina's parents realized how bonded the pair had become and, as they had been considering acquiring a horse for her anyway, approached the academy about purchasing Cas. The rest is history waiting to be written.
