"Now Ramin, I know you're all excited from the ride over here. Just chill out for a little while ok?" Gretchen said to the bird, setting his case on the desk. She turned to her room, looking at the suitcases she had brought up before finally bringing her canary into the room. She hadn't brought a ton, but she still wasn't looking forward to unpacking. Ramin peeped excitedly, hopping from perch to perch and examining the new room with his beady black eyes. Gretchen smiled fondly at him before kneeling down and opening the first suitcase.
The first thing that greeted her was books, which made her relax slightly. She'd brought quite a few books, most of them her secret collection of Thor comics. She'd considered leaving them home, but didn't trust them there with her little brother. They would surely be safer here! Picking them up, she began placing them on her bookshelves haphazardly. She'd organize them later, she just needed to get them out. Amongst them she also uncovered her beloved and well worn copy of the illustrated Sherlock Holmes treasury, and a few biographies about the Titanic her brother had given her. Those went onto the shelves as well.
Next to be unpacked was the clothing, which she tore out hastily. She'd never been one for organizing her clothes, and she was grateful to not have a roommate. She wouldn't have to worry about keeping things overly clean. She put her socks and belts in the top drawer, her shirts in the drawer below that, and her jeans in the drawer below that. She uncovered her sweatshirts and hoodies and sighed, why did she have so many? Ramin chirped at her and she glanced up at him, before looking back down. Perhaps she had actually brought more than she originally thought.
