Full History>> Adelaide was born in Germany, where she lived until the age of six. At this point, since her father worked in the diplomatic service, the entire family upped sticks and moved to Italy, which caused considerable upheaval, especially since she spoke no Italian. Still, she quickly learned enough to get by, and certainly picked it up better than her mother, who could only speak a word or two by the time that Adelaide was eight. On moving into the country, Adele had started to take lessons in both singing and the piano, and she displayed a natural aptitude for both which only grew as she got older, and incidentally picked up both the violin and the church organ to add to her repertoire. Adelaide studied music at university in France, where she met three women with similar musical taste to herself, and after graduating, the four set up a cabaret group and began to tour the bars. It was not exactly what Adelaide's classical training had been targeted towards, but she greatly enjoyed it all the same. However, it could never last a lifetime, and when she received an offer from a professional production company to audition for an upcoming play, she jumped at it. This was only the beginning of a life in theatre; Adele appeared in plays, musicals and operas, and she provided musical accompaniment for a fair few as well, even becoming Musical Director for a West End show, which she counts as the high point of her career. As she entered her forties, however, Adelaide found the theatrical life becoming a little too strenuous for her as she struggled with migraines, and so she decided to take up what she considered a less stressful profession- teaching.
