Kona had found the loft quite some time back, upon suggestion of Dr. Carr. The woman had given her the hint to head up the ladder at some point when she had mentioned going back to her room to do homework, and since then, this had become one of her favorite spots on campus. She had her favorite chair set up to look down out of the barn's main doors, and could just about see the edge of the yards from where she sat as she read through the English teacher's newest assigned books. The smell of paper and hay mingled, a good blend, she thought. Luckily all of the horses were outside enjoying the sunshine, and so the scent of manure was not overly present that day.
