Bruce laughed as he finished grooming Boss and got the flaxen chestnut ready to be ridden. It seemed that no matter how much time he put into the gelding's appearance, the Stationbred horse always looked like he hadn't been groomed in months, if not years; his mane didn't sit beautifully to one side, rather as soon as it was combed out it would just flip back to lie on both sides of the gelding's neck and his forelock was so fluffy that it had the look of having permanent knots.
He led the horse to the outside arena and smoothly mounted up, sitting tall as the gelding bucked like a bronco, giving the opinion that he hadn't been ridden for the same length of time as his last apparent grooming - though he was groomed and ridden daily - and the man easily sat to the horse's antics. "You've finished now, I gather?" He asked as the gelding dropped back to a walk. With a shake of his head, Bruce took up the reins and got the horse moving properly under him. Bruce knew he didn't work the gelding as much as he should, Boss' cold-back antics gave that away, but he also knew that the gelding's breed was designed to be able to handle weeks, if not months without being ridden, and then being ridden for days on end.
