Cara nodded her head at the coach's words, though the only real handstand in her routine had been the one right at the start, everything else had been walkovers after that. Though she wasn't one to argue so she pushed herself to a standing position and stepped over to the line on the mat, so that the new gymnast could have the low beam. Standing on the line, she took two steps and went into a handstand, finding the vertical and then silently counting to twenty before she kicked her legs down, and then repeated the process.
She glanced over at the new girl, and wished that Coach had at least given them some idea of what the girl's name was. She had noticed that the girl was having trouble spotting her turns, and while Cara wasn't known for being the most talkative person, she also wasn't going to sabotage anyone's practice by not offering a word of advice. "I am called Cara." She offered with a ghost of a smile that vanished as quickly as it had appeared, which would lead one to wonder if they ever saw anything. "You need to breathe, exhale and relax before a turn." She offered, for once pleased that she didn't speak above a whisper, as a whisper didn't carry further than it had to in this case. "There is no shame in returning to basics to perfect one move. Work on it stage by stage; where your hands start and finish, where your leg starts, travels to and finishes, and then turn slowly." She demonstrated as she spoke; right hand in front, left out to the side, feet in fourth position before her toe piquéd to her knee as she moved her right foot into revelé. Arms lifted above her head, fingers almost touching, left leg stretching forward and she went into a plié as the toe of that foot touched the line and her arms stretched out behind her as they would as the end of a turn.
She shrugged, feeling self-conscious now that she'd done all that talking. "I just know it helps me to break things down, sorry."
She felt slightly hopeful when the coach began to call out new apparatus to the other gymnasts but wasn't too surprised when she was told to remain where she was, though the moved her handstand work to the low beam rather than the floor.
