Study Day

Alec looked out his dorm window as the streams of rain ran down the clear glass. He let out a sigh as he was always fascinated with the happenings of the outdoors. The weather has been a bit temperamental, all day it has been on and off between the sun and the rain as if it was a fight. He tapped his pencil against the text book he was currently studying and took a glance up from under the text to have his smoldering blue eyes gaze and something random, whether it was in his room or something outside his window. He just couldn't concentrate. He ran a hand through his dainty brown hair that was in its natural look of being parted on the side as he decided to get out of his room.

Although he didn't have a roommate at the moment, it was still a bit messy here and there. His back pack was somewhere in the corner and a few of his papers were scattered on his bed as he just happened to be working there a while ago, and don't even get him started on his especially unorganized desk. He sighed as he tidy things up a bit, but seemed to not really give much effort, as he only clumped up the papers from his bed and put them in his backpack and threw another few things into the bag. He grabbed his dorm room keys, earphones, and iPhone as he walked out of the room, locking it behind him.

He took a quick look around the common room on the first floor of the Yellow Ribbon housing. He was glad it was unoccupied as he entered and quickly plopped himself on one of the couches. He liked the much more open feeling of the room than his dorm room as he zipped open his backpack and grabbed the previous textbook he was studying with. He grabbed his earphones and plugged them into his iPhone as he scrolled through the many song selections in the music app. He finally just decided to put it on shuffle as a random song started to get in its place. He let the song start to play as he kept it at a reasonable volume and started to open back up the textbook that was in his hand.

Serenity was thoroughly enjoying the temperamental weather. While others were running for cover, she was in the middle of the rainfall, allowing the fresh water to soak through the powder blue cotton dress.

After a few too many strange looks from other students, and teachers, the girl finally decided it was time to head inside. She picked up the black velvet cloak that she had left under a tree, so that it would stay dry, and swept it around her shoulders, and fastened it at her neck. With a mysterious smile, she pulled up the cowl to cover her head, and hurried across the wet grass toward Yellow Ribbon House.

Stepping into the House, she slipped her feet out of her very wet ballet flats and padded down the hallway on wet feet until she reached the common room. Hoping that the room would be empty, as she wouldn't have to answer stupid questions this way, she swept into the room. Not noticing the boy working on a couch, she gave a musical laugh as she pushed back the cowl of her cloak and shook her head until her blonde hair fell free around her face. She was about to turn to make herself a hot chocolate when her eyes landed on the boy sitting there, remembering him from another time in this very room. "Would you like a drink, Alec?" She asked politely as she undid the cloak and hung it on the coat stand, not really caring that her dress was soaked.

Alec lowered the volume until it sounded like faint background music to him as he focused on getting the information from the fat textbook into his brain. He already went over it a second time before he just decided to move along from that stuck place and just wanted to get this over with. He let out a deep breath to calm his thoughts as he knew he can't rush things. He learned that the hard way as it reminded him of how his parents were, already thinking about his future as soon as he was born. Ok, maybe that might be an exaggeration.

He heard faint laughter as he knew it wasn't coming from his music. He glanced up through his shaggy brown hair and noticed a blonde hair girl take off her black cloak. He remembered her, as she was practically the first person he met when he first arrived to Blue Ridge, besides the staff at the main office of course. He practically thought of them as nice friends as their first encounter went quite well, if he did say so himself. He took out his earphones and paused the music and set his now wrapped up earphones and phone back in the pocket of his blue sweatshirt he was wearing. "I'm fine, thank you." He responded with a soft smile in greeting towards her. "It's good to see you again, Serenity." He added as her name popped back in his mind as soon as he spoke.

Noticing the girl's attire, consisting of a blue dress, he then arched a brow towards the appearance. "Have you been playing in the pouring rain?" He teased, as there was a hint of playfulness to his tone. He didn't know the girl might have been one of those people who enjoyed the temperamental weather like this, but Serenity already seemed different, a good different to be exact. Sometimes it was just nice for a change, and he always seemed to enjoy experiencing new things. After all, normal was boring.

Reni bowed her head at his words and made her way over to the kitchenette, where she put the kettle on to boil and began to prepare her tea as she waited for the water to get to temperature.

She turned back to him with an impish grin. "That I have been." She replied lightly. "I can't understand why people run to get out of the rain when it is one of the most purest things in the world." She turned back to the bench as she heard the kettle click off and she poured the water into her mug, inhaling the scent of apple and cinnamon as the clear liquid hit the tea bag. Once she had let it seep for a couple of minutes she took the bag out and placed it in the bin before flavouring the tea with a touch of homey and then carrying it over to the couch opposite where Alec was sitting.

She sat down, tucking her leg under her, now regretting playing in the rain as her dress was making her feel cold. However, she knew that the liquid would warm her up quickly. "What are you working on?" She asked, nodding toward the text books. Although generally reserved around males, other than her brother, she had liked Alec the day she met him.
