Show Name: Big Bad Brolly
Barn Name: Brolly
Age: 16
Gender: Stallion
Breed: British Warmblood
Breed Registry: BWBS (British Warmblood Society)
The Appearance
Coat Color: Bay
Stable Color: Dark Green
Height: 17.1 hh
The Personality
Personality: A gentle giant, he hardly acts like a stereotypical stallion would. He loves people, especially children, and likes to nudge people for a treat or a pat. He can get a little rowdy in hand, however he is incredibly mindful of his handler and always makes sure not to bump them or run over them. Under saddle he is a diligent and willing worker, responding with speed and precision to the aids given to him. On jumping courses, he is a little reserved, and always aware of his rider. Should they fall, he will stop immediately in his tracks to wait for them to get up again. In the show ring he is all business, with smooth flashy gaits and lovely head carriage. His only vice is his volatile nature around mares, he nearly turns into an entirely different horse and needs a careful eye and an incredibly experienced hand when in the presence of one.
Caution Around: Mares
The History
Basic History: Brolly was born on a small farm on the English country side. The people who owned the farm bred the warmbloods on the side as a hobby, and was mainly a lesson and competition barn. Brolly was constantly around children, and learned quickly that if he was nice and cute, he'd get the attention he wanted. The advanced riders at the stable took him on as a project when he came of age, and under their careful guidance he became a lower level dressage and jumping horse. Some of the children began taking him to shows, at the lower levels he excelled. However the farm felt the stallion could do more, and sold him to a much larger eventing facility for proper training. Indeed, his previous owners were right. With the right training, he became something to behold as an eventer. With his success, people began demanding breeding rights to him. They gave them, however they quickly discovered that the horse was almost hostile to his handlers when in the presence of a mare. The farm had no experience how to deal with that since they were not a breeding facility. So they sent the stallion to auction, he was getting older and they were too afraid to breed him lest he injure someone. Mycroft's younger brother William happened to be at the auction with a friend, and remembering that his brother had been recently employed as a teacher at a horse school, bought the stallion. He then shipped the horse to Mycroft with a note attached that merely read, 'Time to embace your fears, and what an opprotunity to do so with your new life in America! I've taken the liberty of naming him Brolly. You're welcome.'
The Technicalities
Discipline: Mainly Dressage, however he will still do intermediate eventing.

Show Name: La Source (The Spring)
Barn Name: Flower
Age: 10
Gender: Mare
Breed: Egyptian Arabian
Breed Registry: AHA (Arabian Horse Association)
The Appearance
Coat Color: Dapple Grey
Stable Color: Orchid
Height: 16 hh
The Personality
Personality: Flower is best described as being dainty. She is incredibly careful when out riding and always seems to be mindful of things going on around her. She is rarely afraid or spooked by something, and on that rare occasion she is she calms down from it very quickly and easily. Because of her high intelligence, she is able to adapt to various situations without much trouble and never seems to panic. However, being the dainty and cautious lady that she is, she can be rather slow at times and difficult to get going. She also has a tendency to take interest and be distracted by things like flower boxes and birds flying nearby when she's just standing around in the ring, but will not walk off or investigate them without permission. Her rider doesn't need to pay much attention to her, as she behaves downright saintly 99% of the time. La Source does not have the most amazing scope in the world, and therefore her jumping ability tops off at about 3', but her quiet nature makes her perfect for just about any rider to get on. On the ground La Source loves attention, and will often rub her nose against people affectionately looking for treats and pats. She seems sensitive to people's feelings, and will try her best to comfort and cheer up those she senses are upset or distressed.
Caution Around: Shiny and pretty things, she's not scared of them she just gets distracted by them sometimes
The History
Basic History: La Source was born and bred on an Arabian farm from some of the best stock they had. She spent most of her life showing halter and English pleasure, which she excelled at greatly. She was also used as a broodmare and was mother to 2 foals. However when the owner of the farm suddenly died, the farm went bankrupt and all the horses were sold off at auction. La Source went from farm to farm, showing a little more, being used as a lesson horse, and having 1 more foal before she was put up for sale yet again. Her last home before Mycroft was a very small lesson barn which ran a camp in the summers. Though they loved the sweet arab greatly their financial struggles forced them to either sell her and several other of their horses or send them to auction. Mycroft noticed an ad for her in the paper and decided to see her. He'd been looking for a versatile but easygoing horse he could ride in shows, since his stallion Brolly was barred from many of them. He was wary of her initially because she reminded him of his beloved grey, Starlight Express, and almost didn't purchase her for that reason. However his conscience nagged him and eventually he purchased her to save her from going to auction. While he is still a little unsure, he can't bring himself to say that he regrets his decisions to buy her.

Show Name: Rainbow Parade
Barn Name: Rainbow
Age: 5
Gender: Filly
Breed: Thoroughbred
Breed Registry: Jockey Club
The Appearance
Coat Color: Bay
Stable Color: Royal Blue
Height: 16.2 hh
The Personality
Personality: Rainbow Parade gained a reputation on the backside as being one of the most troublesome horses around. In the past she constantly looked to nip, kick, pull, and run her handlers over whether they be saddling her or trying to bathe her, however after wintering in Blue Ridge her temperment and behavior towards her handlers has improved leaps and bounds though she still cannot be trusted especially towards newcomers. Under saddle she has matured and gained confidence, though can sometimes be taken by surprise if other horses get too close unexpectedly. Under an experienced hand she is a truly great racehorse. When properly focused during a race she is afraid of nothing, quiet in the gate and willing to charge through the tightest of spaces in order to take the lead. She has great speed and potential, she just needs a steady and gentle hand to guide her in the right direction. Alert, observant, and sometimes almost affectionate, Mycroft believes he may have found a kindred spirit with a great amount of potential.
Caution Around: Don't turn your back to her!
The History
Basic History: Rainbow Parade was born in Kentucky at Claiborne Farms, and raised like all thoroughbred babies heading for the track. She was sold at the yearling sales at Keenland and began her training with a trainer who believed that while the young horse had great potential and good speed, she was incredibly lazy and difficult to work with. She began her racing career in Florida in the early spring as a two year old and raced with little success in her maiden and first three starts following it. However midway through her season she began to improve with leaps and bounds as her trainer experimented with different techniques to motivate her and make her easier to handle and work with. While she was still sour, she began winning consistently by the time they moved her up to Belmont. She was put in a G1 stakes race for 2 year old fillies, and was set to win the race when a horse behind her clipped her heels at the top of the stretch, resulting in a hairline fracture in her left hind leg. The owners insisted on selling her immediately, but her trainer hesitated, having grown fond of the nasty filly. He reached out anywhere he could, trying to find someone to take her so she wasn't sold for slaughter, and that is when Mycroft happened. After shooting the trainer an email, he agreed to have the filly shipped back to Kentucky to him, at little charge.
Once she'd fully recovered, Mycroft had her returned to her trainer to continue her career. She exploded back into the racing world, winning the Triple Tiara as well as several other top class races for fillies. Instead of putting her against American Pharoah however, Mycroft decided to end her season before the Breeders Cup and had her brought back to Blue Ridge. Since her attitude did in fact improve, he has decided to exercise her over the fall and winter using a younger rider. In the spring she was returned to her trainer for the season, having a rocky start before finally succeeding once more at Saratoga. However despite her winnings she showed signs of being unhappy, her weight fluxuating and her personality changing radically. Mycroft decided to retire her before the Breeders Cup, had her racing plates removed, and now plans to train her for eventing rather than start her career as a broodmare so early. He believes she will be much happier with a job while she's still young. .
