The Personality
Personality: Frye is rather flighty, and fulfills all of the qualities that thoroughbreds are known for, and then some. He used to be calmer when his previous rider, Becca’s sister owned him, but ever since her death he has been on edge. He’s very high strung and nervous. His stall manners, and manners elsewhere are terrible, and even those who know him best are wise to not turn their back to him. He bites when irritated and his girth is being tightened, and sometimes lashes out at other horses if they’re too close. He doesn’t kick as much, but once did when a horse got too close to him. Needless to say, Frye is not at all friendly. Fortunately, he’s very talented. He’s a scopey and talented jumper, and has great speed and stamina. He excels at cross country, and actually seems to enjoy himself. Frye is known to get very powerful and unmanageable, but Becca is learning to handle him rather well now that she’s discovered that he only pulls harder when she puts a lot of pressure on his reins. He uses a running martingale to prevent his head from getting too high, and it also helps slow him when need be. Being an eventer, Frye needed to learn dressage, which was his worst discipline, but Becca’s sister Kaitlin taught him rather well, and though it’s not his strongest point, he can put in a decent test.

The History
Basic History: Frye never raced, but was trained from the beginning to be a top eventer, focusing on cross country and show jumping. He’s talented enough to be able to do very well at showjumping, but he is best at eventing and cross country. He was bought as a very green gelding by Kaitlin Walsh, who had already started competing quite a bit, but needed a horse that could take her to the top. She trained him very well performance wise, but he never learned his manners around people and other horses. This was accepted since he was decent enough to Kaitlin, and he and Becca’s horse got along unusually well. He and Kaitlin went on to top many of their division for a couple years before their career was suddenly cut off with Kaitlin’s death. Frye immediately noticed her absence since she had trained with him constantly. After a week of her absence, he began eating less and less, and his already bad attitude turned for the worse. Once the funeral had been held and everything regarding the death had been cleared up, Becca and Kaitlin’s parents decided that they would sell Frye, since Becca didn’t compete and Kaitlin was no longer there to ride him. Becca, unable to accept the fact that her sister’s partner would be sold, promised her parents that she would start riding Frye and compete with him as well. She did so, hiring another girl to work with her other thoroughbred to she could have time to train with Frye. The two slowly began to bond, paving their path to the show circuit. Frye showed immense improvement once he was training again. Becca brought Frye with her to Blue Ridge Academy, hoping that they could successfully compete there and further their training with the elite equestrian program at the academy.

The Personality
Personality: Sailor is a loyal gelding who cares for his rider’s well-being. He is trusting and will throw his heart into anything his rider asks of him, so one had better ask him correctly! He’s brave and takes care of his rider completely, making him a bit of a guardian. He’s got a “been there, done that” sort of attitude that usually comes with a horse twice his age, and he is very experienced. Huge scary jumps don’t startle him, but he won’t allow farriers and clippers to come within a mile of him. To be shod, he usually needs a sedative to keep him from freaking out, and the same is the case for clippers. He is also very attentive and is prone to staring into the distance with his ears pricked, distracted by something far off. Sailor has the movements of a dressage horse, and he’s got a great frame for it. However, he also has a big jump, but it’s on the flatter side, like that of an ideal equitation horse, that makes it easy for his rider to stay steady and look pretty. On the cross country course, his stride is ground-covering, but his rider needs to ask him for more speed if they want it, as he won’t give it himself. He’s a safe packer for anyone to ride, but it takes someone who knows what they’re doing to get him to shine his best.

The History
Basic History: Sailor was born on a small farm in Ireland that specialized in Irish Sport Horse breeding. His sire is very successful eventer in Europe, and his dame excelled in dressage. He was quickly bought off of the farm as a yearling by a big eventing stable that recognized him as a big jumper and a pretty mover. He was trained there and soon sold to a competitive rider, who took him along with the rest of his string of horses around Europe and the United States. After a several years he was put up for sale since he wasn’t one of the rider’s primary horses, and he hadn’t been competing with him as much in the later years. Becca, who had been looking for an eventer, found Sailor’s information and purchased him after trying him. She hopes to continue his eventing career.
