The Personality
Personality: For the most part Aurica is a very quiet mare with a naturally calm and refined demeanor when not under the saddle. Though she’s not particularly interested in the herd mentality and is more likely to be seen away from the group grazing by herself, she is peaceful and gentle when approached by other horses, and is fully capable of putting one in its place if she’s met with rudeness or hostility. She can also come off as being rather aloof around handlers she’s unfamiliar with. When this arises she’s sort of mechanical in her movements and unexcitable. Oh sure she’ll be polite enough to be easy to groom and lead without an issue, but she won’t be interested in pleasing or going that extra mile.
However, if you take to time to get to know Aurica and see her on a regular basis, let her warm up to you; maybe even tempt her with some cucumber slices and a good scratching behind the cheeks the chances of her turning on a dime and showing off that vivacious and eager to work personality her owner and rider know and love her for are much higher. You may even receive some of the mare’s quirky little displays of affection; like bowing and trying to feed you hay.
Caution Around: Aurica has a seething hatred for being penned up on a plane or in a trailer for traveling. Suffering through a flight or a long drive is a surefire way to get her in a sour mood and put her off her game for a day or two. She’s also notorious for holding in air when having her girth tightened. So do yourself a favor and check twice before mounting.
The History
Basic History: Aurica’s had a good life so far, and hopefully will have just as nice of a life until the end of her days. She was born to a sweet dame and sired by a proud stud on the De Fiore Andalusian Ranch in the peaceful countryside of Spain, and has been handled by people from a young age. Originally the young filly was intended to be put on the market and sold to an interested breeder in Germany who wanted to use her as a broodmare, but after some time and hard thinking the plans for her future were changed and she was instead given to Cassian as a birthday gift from his grandfather. Ever since then she and the boy have been practically inseparable; their training as a team starting at the tender ages of four and eleven.
She now has a promising career is classical dressage and is even starting to explore the possibilities of dabbling in a bit of show jumping here and there with the help of some dedication and hard work.
