Personality>>Stefan, or Kai, as he prefers to be called, is very different from his older sister. He's much more sociable, and enjoys the presence of others around him. He's the kind that'll go out to parties, although he's just as happy staying in with his friends and watching movies, and pays attention to his limits (although he'll knowingly step over them if he has no reason not to). He's sympathetic and listens to anyone that needs a shoulder to cry on, or a friend to turn to, and there's very few people that meet him that he doesn't consider a friend.
When speaking to him, before he considers you a friend, though, the first thing people tend to notice is how charismatic he is. He could talk his way out of any type of trouble, although he tries not to blame others after what happened with Daria. He's very thorough, and when he's not busy, he'll draw up elaborate stories, although he abhors writing them down.

Appearance>> Despite his youth, Kai is already shooting up in height. He used to be shorter than his sister, but already stands taller than her, at 6'0" and still growing. He's wiry and muscular, and as his sister likes to joke, a sack of bones. His hair is brown and wavy, maintained in a short cut. Hazel grey eyes peer out of a well-defined face, unmarred by acne most of the time, although he has issues with dry spots down his chin in the winter, with the cold, dry air. He tends to wear khakis or jeans and a simple shirt, without actually putting much effort into his outfit.

Full History>> Kai was the second child born to Barbara and Bert Eder, a well-established couple that lived in Oettersdorf, Thuringia. His father was a doctor in the nearby town of Schleiz, while his mother commuted every day to Jena, where she worked as a banker. When their maternal grandmother died, however, the path of the Eder siblings changed.
His mother's brother offered their grandmother's space in the family hof to the family. Barbara, who had to commute every day, jumped at the offer, although it wasn't until his father found a position at a nearby hospital that things really got set into motion. Just after his sister's fifth birthday, at the age of three and a half, the family moved to the family building once more, on the outskirts of Jena.
Niklas, their uncle, and his wive and daughter, welcomed the family back into the home with open arms. They split the building down the middle, and the family grew close together. Kai watched his sister learn to ride, although it was almost two years before he actually began walking the now-geriatric pony around on his own. While Katja was interested in the actual riding of horses, Kai was more likely to be found following the farrier or veterinarian around.
However, that didn't mean that he didn't learn to ride. When their father found a trainer for Katja, he followed his sister, although he began at a lower level. While dressage never called to him as it did his sister, Kai found some talent for the other two parts of eventing, although he still considered the possibility of going to school to be a veterinarian instead, later.
Not soon after Katja had received her horse, things went wrong. When putting Niklas' family's horses out into the pasture with Daria, Kai forgot to latch the gate. When the horses escaped, one, Daria's sport pony, ran out into the middle of the street and was struck, badly enough to require euthanasia.
When questioned, Kai said that Daria had been the one that hadn't latched the gate, although he knew that it had been he. His parents believed him, but Niklas believed his daughter, who insisted that she hadn't done it. To prevent the family from being torn apart about it, the Eders offered to send Kai away to a boarding school, which Niklas allowed as the olive branch is was intended as.
So, after his family looked around, they took the siblings' trainer's advice and looked across the ocean to Blue Ridge. Considering that the male had studied English (along with Russian) in school, it was an acceptable option. However, when his sister asked to go along, he was happy not to be losing his entire family (don't tell her, though!), even though the language barrier would be more difficult for her. As a further prompt to go, without telling Niklas, his parents told him that a horse would be waiting for him at Blue Ridge.

Personality>> Nebel, quite surprisingly, matches his name, which translates to Fog. He can be anywhere one moment, but he'll be gone the next, disappearing like fog on the moor. However, he's really affective if you manage to catch him in his social moods, and he's all too happy to curl up in a lap, anyone's lap. While he's grown up in a barn, he doesn't do mice, although they don't bother him, he just... Sees no reason to go after them.
History>> Nebel ended up in a shelter in Jena. His paper said that he was found wandering the streets, but his personality led Stefan to guess that he was a displaced house cat. Since then, he's become the boy's companion, and now that Stefan is moving to the states, it's only natural for Nebel to come with him.
