Leo looked at himself in the mirror and nodded at his outfit: black dress slacks, light blue button down shirt and a black denim jacket. He looked serious enough for a nice eatery, but not so over the top that he was overdoing it.
Looking at his watch, he realised that it was almost time to meet his date outside her House and for the taxi to arrive and whisk them away into the township. Picking up the wrapped gift he had ordered for Miranda, and was ever so thankful that it had arrived in time. He tucked it into the pocket on the inside of his jacket.
Heading out of his room, he locked the door and then all but skipped his way out of the Red House. Tonight was a little bittersweet, as he was taking his girlfriend out for dinner, but it was also the start of their good byes; school would be ending in a couple of weeks and the two of them would be heading in different directions. He would always remain in touch with her, but school is where their relationship needed to remain.
The taxi ride to the Township of Blue Ridge didn't take long and Leo stepped out of the cab and held the door open as he offered Mir his hand as she stepped out, and then walked with her into Blue Waters and they were quickly taken to their table; where a bottle of chilled sparkling fruit juice and two champagne glasses were waiting. "My lady." He said as he held her chair out for her.

Miranda quickly pinned the last of her hair out of her face, glancing into the mirror to make sure everything was where it should be. Her hair had been the last thing she chose to do, knowing it would take the least amount of time. After giving it a once-over with hairspray just to make sure nothing flew away, Miranda rinsed off her hands and grabbed her small bag, throwing her room key into it after she'd locked the door behind her.
As she walked down the stairs, she pushed away the feeling of sadness that threatened to invade, knowing that not only would she and Leo be moving on soon, separately, but that there was a chance, however slim, that when she left the school, she would never see him again. But today was not a day for such thoughts, but rather, to celebrate the time they'd spent together. As she spotted Leo in front of the parking lot, she snuck up behind him with a hug, then grinned before they settled into the taxi.
When they reached the town, Miranda followed Leo out of the taxi, smiling as she took his hand and walked inside with him. The perfect gentleman as always, Leo didn't surprise her as he held out her chair. "Thank you, Leo." She settled herself and then waited for him to seat himself before she grinned, "I guess we've made it through the year." One of the waiters had picked up the bottle of fruit juice, and she glanced at it and nodded briefly, waiting for both of their glasses to be filled before she picked hers up, holding it out to Leo, "Here's to the past few years, more wonderful than I could have imagined."

Leo gave a beaming grin at her thanks and sat down in his own chair. He picked up his glass once it had been filled and raised it as Miranda spoke. "To the past few years I'll never forget and to looking forward to the future." He said with a smile as he clicked his glass against hers and then took a sip of the slightly overly sweet liquid, silently praying that it wouldn't be the one thing to upset his stomach.
He medication had been changed a week ago, something he always did with baited breath, and this time things were actually agreeing with him (if you ignored the sleepless nights), and that had made this dinner even more possible than things had looked a couple of weeks ago.
After they had requested what they wanted from the menu and waited for their food to be brought out; he reached into his jacket and withdrew the wrapped box. "It's a graduation gift." He said as he held it out to her. Yes, it was a good bye gift, but he didn't want to start saying his good byes just yet, as that would just ruin the entire evening and right now he just wanted to have the time be bathed in happiness. He hoped she liked the necklace that he had picked out for her, it wasn't anything too over the top, but just a little good luck charm that she could keep with her and maybe remember him every time she looked at it.

Miranda smiled at Othello's toast, touching her glass against his and then mirroring his action to take a sip. Not wanting to drink too much of the juice, she set her glass down and started looking at the menu, making her choice relatively quickly. There was pretty much a guarantee of everything here being good, although she knew her own preferences. After making her decision and requesting it from the server, she turned back to Leo, who had also ordered. Hopefully the food would agree with him, although she knew he would probably not say much to the contrary if he could avoid it.
As Leo passed over a small box, she smiled at him, "Thank you." Deciding to unwrap Leo's gift before she handed over his, she carefully undid the wrapping paper, then opened the jewelry box to see the necklace that he had picked out, "Wow, this is wonderful!" She smiled at him, then ran a finger over the infinity symbol, entwined with a horseshoe, "Thank you again." He always managed to find the most amazing pieces, as her charm bracelet could attest to. Carefully closing the lid on the box again, she turned to her purse and pulled out the wrapped frame, already filled with a photo of Leo and Witt, his Morgan colt from foal handling. She didn't know if he even knew she'd taken the photo, as she hadn't even set out to stalk her boyfriend. In reality, she'd been passing by the barns and had seen the pair, and felt lucky that she had.

Leo felt himself leaning forward slightly as she unwrapped the present. He knew that getting her jewellery wasn't anything new, but he was always nervous when he gave her a new piece in case it turned out she didn't like it. He grinned and released a breath he didn't realise he'd been holding. "I'm glad you like it." He replied softly.
He accepted the gift from her and eagerly opened it. "Wow." He breathed when he looked at the photo in the frame and then at the frame it was in. It never ceased to amaze him how Miranda seemed to just be in the right place to get the most perfect photos. "It's beautiful Mir, thank you." He said softly and then cleared his throat and gave a tight smile. The photo was just another reminder that they were heading in their own directions. "What am I going to do for photos now that I lose my own personal paparazzi?" He asked with a wicked grin.
He looked up as a bowl of soup was placed in front of him. "Thank you." He said to the server. He knew that soup seemed to be an odd thing to choose for a summer meal, but he could almost guarantee that the soup wouldn't disagree with him, and ordering a salad would have just been too awkward as he would have had to get them to remove so many things; mainly the dressing. He cut into his bread roll and spread some butter on the warm bread.
"When do your horses get picked up?" He asked as he broke off a bit of the bread and dipped it into the soup and then popped it in his mouth, chewing thoughtfully.

Miranda giggled at Leo's reaction to her gift, smiling as he commented further, "I'm glad you like it." At least there was no worry of Leo thinking she was constantly stalking her, because she really wasn't. At his question, she shrugged, "You'll have to learn to take your own, I guess. Although I would suggest you didn't start with any of the selfie trends." She found them stupid, although really, it was a person's choice.
As their food was brought, Miranda smiled at the server and thanked him before turning to her salad. No, she wasn't watching her figure, as the dressing and toppings on the salad could attest. But it was warm, and a light meal seemed about right for the temperature. Better than a soup, although she knew she was lucky that he'd found something that would hopefully agree with him, even if it was unseasonable.
As he asked about her horses, Miranda wondered briefly where he'd gotten the plural from, then realized he might have meant Zagg, "Zagg, and Ziggy, both went back a couple of weeks ago. Sye and I will be driving down to Texas together after graduation, I do have my own trailer now." It was going to be an interesting trip, the first she'd driven with a horse. Sure, she'd driven Sye, and sometimes another, horse to a show here or there, but this would be a multiple-day trip. At least she had places to stay, "Kent offered to stay and come with me, since they're all coming up for graduation, but I think I'll spend a couple days after just to finish tying up everything." She shrugged, "What about you? Are you flying back to Washington right after the big day, or hanging out a little bit more?"
