Maeve had always treasured the beginning of summer - the days grew longer and the end of school gave her more time with the horses. That mostly meant more work, but also more free time, and she was excited to get working with Ella once more. They been toying with the idea (more like dreaming) of adopting an OTTB. The horses were cheap and athletic, but needed a lot of training. She knew, however, that this was unrealistic - she wouldn't be able to do anything with the horse after graduating. A lease was more feasible, but she was more than satisfied with Ella currently. She just couldn't shake the ever-present desire to have a horse of her own.
After taking care of more pressing barn chores, Maeve fetched a broom and began to sweep the aisles. It certainly wasn't a gratifying chore - they seemed to get messy once more almost immediately - but she didn't mind it, especially in comparison to other chores. It was rather methodical, and it gave her time to think. She was considering taking out one of the academy horses to exercise when she was done before she schooled Ella. They always kept her on her toes, and she liked being able to ride a variety of horses.
