– from Robert Jorden's Crossroads of Twilight
Serenity laughed as she led Plot into the wash racks, the mare's head was down by her knees and every step seemed to take every ounce of her being, though the girl knew that she hadn't worked the mare that hard, even if they were both drenched in sweat. "Come on beautiful." She told the mare as she clipped her into place and turned the hose on.
Aiming the hose at the mare's feet, she let the spray hit the horse and laughed again as Plot instantly started searching for the water source and quickly took the end of the hose into her mouth, noisily slurping up the water before the girl managed to get the hose back off the tall bay mare. "Silly." She reprimanded, though her tone was anything but grumpy.
While holding the hose, she shrugged her way out of her polo shirt, revealing the bodysuit she was wearing underneath. If anyone else came in to join her and weren't happy with how she was dressed, she'd easily put the polo shirt back on... though she would possibly be tempted to soak the top with the hose first.
She moved her finger over the hose to create a good spray and began to work it over the mare's coat, making sure to remove all the sweat from Plot's armpits - or under her elbows as the case may be.

With both parties breathing heavily Danny made the executive decision to end the workout session. Dressage always turned out to be the best thing for O'Malley to get himself together. The gelding loved to be in the spot light and he reminded his rider of that every now and again with his little bucking game, but Danny had gotten him under control for the most part.
Sliding off of the big horse, they made their way back to the barn to start the process of getting cleaned up. O'Malley shook his head and little droplets flew off and landed on Danielle, "Nice," she said as she wiped her own sweat away from her forehead with the back of her hand. Once the tack was back in the tack room Danny took the opportunity to change into more comfortable and seasonal clothing. Returning to the gelding with shorts and paddock boots on, she lead the way to the wash racks.
It had been a week or two since O'Malley got a good bath, shampoo and all and so she decided it would be ideal to do it now. Seeing as they weren't going to be alone in the wash racks, Danny distanced herself from the other horse, though a smile appeared on her face as she saw who the girl was. "Hi Reni." Danny knew the girl from classes, equine and academic, and had become quite fond of her. She didn't know if they were classified as friends but she'd like to think so, they had sort of a friendly competition going on when they had mounted classes and Danny had definitely thought they were friends of some sort.

Serenity has kind of forgotten that the rest of the world existed as she was hosing Plot down, but as the mare shifted her feet and let out a warning squeal, Serenity quickly became aware of the world around them. "Knock it off." She said as she shoved the mare hard enough to cause her to have to rebalance herself. "Sorry 'bout that." She said as she turned to look at the person who had greeted her, and the horse that Plot had decided wasn't in her favour at the moment.
"Hi Danny." She greeted. "Ignore her, she's in a mood because I actually made her work today." She rubbed Plot's forehead before she went back to spraying the mare with the hose, and when she was wet all over, the girl grabbed the mare's rubber curry comb and began to massage the mare's wet coat and skin. "Looks like O'Malley has been busy." She wasn't quite sure about the other girl since she was wearing shorts, but as she wasn't one to jump to conclusions and for all she knew, Danny could have been riding with full chaps over the shorts. "Are you doing mounted games again this year?"

Danny giggled under her breath as she knew how Plot could be, she had seen the mare act up during classes though she could hardly judge as O'Malley had given the class a show or two. "Well O'Malley and Plot should be friends because he always feels that way, even when I just take him out for a simple hack." Grabbing the hose, immediately O'Malley's ears flicked forward, running the water so it was a little warmer than cold, as the pansy gelding didn't like cold water, Danny began running the water over his legs. Being the silly horse that he was, O'Malley danced a little but eventually got used to the falling water.
"Yep we worked on the ground today, another reason for him to be moody." Squirting the shampoo along the horse's body she slowly worked it into his coat, "I got really hot and decided to change quick before his bath. And wet breeches are the worst to try and get off." She turned to face Reni and threw a thumb back over her shoulder, "This one likes the method of shaking dry." Before long the O'Malley looked like a wooly sheep with all the dirtied bubbles hanging off of him. Before he could decide to send them onto Danielle, she grabbed the hose once again and started rinsing him off. When Reni asked about mounted games she nodded, "Yea definitely, what about you?"

Serenity nodded her head, though the two horses should probably also be friends since they lived in the same barn, but she didn't think her mare had any close horsey friends, not since Ms Chevalier had left with Cedar anyway - Plot and the gelding had been almost joined at the hip when they were out in the pasture together, which had amused both her and the gelding's owner since neither of their horses were known for wanting to be close to another horse.
She nodded at the information that the other girl and gelding had done groundwork that day. "Plot's the opposite, when we do groundwork, she blissfully happy, it's day's when I want to work on dressage that she gets really moody." And she guessed it was because when they worked on the ground, all of the girl's attention was on mare, whereas when she was riding, her attention was on the arena as well. Show jumping was another of the mare's pet-peeves, though she seemed to love the thrill of cross country, which they had been doing that day, thus the mare being so sweaty and tired when they had returned.
Holding her finger over the hose again, she sprayed the mare's face, making sure that her cheeks, ears and lips were free of any grime and foam. Turning the hose away, she used the thumbs to clean any gunk away from the mare's eyes. "I've decided that I'll remain in the class until it starts interfering with gymnastics competitions." She had spoken with Mr Ropata and explained this to him. While she was only the reserve on the gymnastics team, she still needed to throw as much energy and training time in as the other gymnasts.
