Mary picked up the curry comb and rubbed it along all of Silver's coat, getting all of the dirt out. Then she got some dirt off his face with the face brush picked up the dandy brush and brushed his whole body with it, getting anything that was left. They were about to go trail riding so he was just going to get dirty again but Mary was still set on making him almost as clean as possible.
Mary had had Silver for over two weeks now, but she still had trouble believing that she had her own horse. She had always wanted a horse, ever since she was a little kid but her parents told her that she could not have a horse until she was grown up and could pay for a horse herself. Her sister, who had also wanted a horse when they were little kids but grew up to no longer like horses, had told Mary that she would never have a horse. She was glad that she had chosen to listen to her parents on that subject and not her sister.
It took several seconds, but Mary managed to get Silver's hoof up so that she could pick it out. Silver was a little stubborn about lifting his hoof up and she hoped that he would get over that, once they bonded more. If he didn't, then she could put up with it.
