Personality>> Seth comes off as your typical boy next door; he's friendly and very much an extrovert, being able to fit into all cliques and not seem out of place in any of them.
Though, when you get past the first impression, he's impatient, judgmental, recklessly impulsive, and not one for following rules (he likes making his own). He won't intentionally break rules, but he will push them to almost breaking point, and then he'll keep pushing until he knows exactly what he can get away with.
While he holds this bad-boy persona (for those who know him), he has above average grades, though if he finds an easier way of doing something in class, he will do it his own way - which has led to him being at loggerheads with his teachers - though his answers will always be the correct ones, so he can't work out what the problem is.
His biggest problem is that he's a bit of an adrenalin junkie, and is always on the look out for some new to do to get his blood pumping (and we're not talking drugs here), so he'll be the one climbing that tree everyone says is impossible to climb, scaling down a slope to get to the river. Now, how old do you have to be to base jump..?

His first kiss was by one of the other barnhands, a girl a couple of years older then him, though as it was both unexpected and his first, he wasn't quite sure what to think about it, and unsure of how to react.
Of all his reckless pursuits, the only one he regrets is when he was almost caught for painting over a billboard - if it hadn't been for his dark clothing, he's sure he would have been caught.
Appearance>> Seth's blond hair shifts between being sun-bleached in the summer to a dark blonde in the other months - the darker the weather is, the darker the blond. His eyes are almost the same colour as his hair in the winter months. His amber eyes are indeed the window to his soul, and they are known to darken with his moods.
While his is known to have "the mouth of a sailor", he's not very intimidating looking as he's a little on the short side - though with his father standing at almost six and a half feet he's hoping a growth spurt is in his future - and he's pretty skinny, so while he has built some muscle and toned up while working at the barn, he looks like the person a bully would choose to pick on (a weed).
Markings>> Scar above his right eye that goes through his eyebrow. Scar on his left clavicle from where a metal plate was pinned to hold his bone in place.
Medical History>> rather sickly as a baby (colic, croup, icky stuff like that), broken a few bones through his recklessness, minor head injury and broken collarbone from a car accident.
Criminal History>> Not yet, but it's a high possibility it won't stay that way
Full History>> Colby and Emma Rice had enough money to be happy, but they couldn't be classed as being "rich". They had been married for three years before Emma fell pregnant. While the pregnancy went smoothly enough, the birth wasn't as easy, after being in labour for three days, she gave birth to a boy and the doctors struggled to stop the bleeding. All ended well though as both mother and baby survived - it was just one of those freak things that happen sometimes with childbirth.
To add salt to the wound, the Rice family spent the first three years of their son's life in and out of hospital as the baby always seemed to be sick with one thing or another, though as soon as he turned three everything seemed to turn a corner and Seth's health picked up. However, they still had to keep an eye on him when he was sick as he suffered from febrile convulsions if his temperature went up too much.
While his parents shortened his name to Stef, the child was unable to pronounce the "f" so he would introduce himself to other people as "Seth", he just didn't know that the name would remain with him as he grew up and soon enough he was no longer called Stef and everyone called him Seth - unless he was in trouble and then it was Stefano Keanu Rice.
The start of school went smoothly, though up until that point he'd always been with his mother, not attending preschool or anything like that, but he took on school with the same confidence he took on everything else.
It was when he hit ten that his reckless streak really began to come out. This is when he started to work outside the box that he felt the teachers were trying to fit them into, he started pressing against boundaries, pushing the rules, anything he could find that would add a little spice to the lives of those around him. There were times that his reckless impulsiveness tended to put him in deep water though - climbing out the bedroom window of his two-story house and scaling down the side of the house to meet friends, climbing water towers, normal stuff that people would just shake their head about and say "he's a boy". There were a couple of times that he could have possibly put himself at risk, but nothing that broke the law.
Christmas of 2012, they were heading home from his grandparents in the mountains and, while Colby was a careful driver, they hit a patch of black ice as they rounded a shady corner and lost control of the car. The car finally came to a stop against a tree, writing it off, but parents and child survived the crash; Seth broke his collar bone and split his forehead open, Colby broke ribs from hitting the steering wheel and his wrists when the airbag released, Emma suffered whiplash. All were treated, kept overnight for observations and released from hospital the next day.
While Seth kept good grades, he seemed to be on the bad-side of every teacher, and no matter how often they threw him out of their classes, nothing changed the fact that he wanted to do things his own way.
After their third meeting with the principal, Colby spoke to the owner of a harness racing barn not too far away, hoping keep his son's impulsive spirit in order, and Seth found himself skipping out stalls, grooming and caring for horses, introducing Seth to his love of horses. The family had a couple of riding horses so every once and a while, Seth would be "paid" by being able to ride - though he never had any lessons.
It was when he graduated junior high that Colby threatened to send the boy to military school to "straighten him out", as the high school had already expressed that they weren't looking forward to Seth's arrival. However, keen to help nurture their grandson's love of horses, his grandparents offered to fund sending him to BRRA if he was accepted. A new start in a new place and all that, also hoping that the room on campus would give the boy the freedom he craved.
