Turn away 'cause I need you more
Personality>> Ben is a fun guy to be around, though you have to be able to appreciate and tolerate his faults. He’s extremely hyperactive, and one can barely ever catch him when he’s not moving. He can’t stand being bored, and always has to be occupied. His parents have described him as being like a five year old in that he can’t sit still and always needs to be occupied and doing something. Even when he’s standing still, or trying to relax, the energy on him is evident, almost buzzing like he’s going to take off at any moment. He often just goes about his business on high speed until he is running on fumes and just crashes. When he finally gets to sleep, he sleeps hard, and it’s extremely hard to get him to wake up early in the morning.
Overall, he’s very kind and will go out of his way to help people, though one has to learn to take his jokes. He has a huge sense of humor and is always joking, even when he’s angry. He’s sometimes sarcastic, but not nearly as much as his peers. Some people see Ben as being overly friendly, but he really does just want to be friends with everyone. The thought of people not liking him sort of scares him, as he likes for people to appreciate him. The thing that upsets him the worst is when he disappoints people. Ben has always had a bit of an interesting relationship with his teachers. He’s rather smart, especially in english and foreign languages, but he doesn’t always put all the work he needs to into his schoolwork. He just needs to make himself focus, and he’d be very good at his schoolwork.
Ben became very aware of his female counterparts pretty early in the game, and has been buzzing around them ever since. He’s very flirtatious, and is used to getting what he wants when it comes to girls. He’s nice and all, and good to them, but he hasn’t completely learned what he really needs to do. He can be totally charming, but once in a while a dumb thing will slip out of his mouth and then it’ll all be done. He hasn’t really met a girl he really loves, but is certainly on the lookout, but maybe not for the right things. Inside he has a heart of gold and is above all very loyal. He keeps those whom he loves close to him and can be quite defensive of them.
There are certain aspects of Ben that don’t totally seem to fit his overall personality. Most of these are a result of his upbringing, as his parents’ ways have managed to rub off on him a little bit. As a grade school student, his parents gave him a list of unusual instruments to choose from, knowing that the skill would be highly sought after later in life. Ben chose the bassoon, mostly because of the funny name and how it compared to his, and learned to play it after learning to play saxophone first to help him learn. He’s actually very good at it, and has learned to love classical music. As far as his riding goes, he chose to ride in hunter/jumper classes and jumpers. He loves show jumping for its thrills, but knows how to get himself together for the hunter ring. Ben is a pretty open guy, but even he has his surprises.

It’s the way I’m feeling I just can’t deny
Appearance>> Ben has a pretty distinctive appearance. His hair is a shock of red for the most part, but in darker lighting he can end up just looking brunette. It’s of medium length, and he usually just lets it go pretty wild, running a brush through it once in a while. Despite this, it usually doesn’t end up looking too bad. He’s mottled in freckles, especially on his face, which has never really bothered him, and he actually sort of likes it. It gives him a look that is different than most, and he often jokingly refers to himself as a ginger. His eyes are a pale mossy green that verge on hazel, and they get sort of squinty when he smiles or laughs. His lips are also larger than normal, and people have said that it can give him a bit of a “fishy” look. Ben is of average height, and a bit skinnier than average, though wired with muscles all the same.
Markings>>Ben has a scar on the right side of his forehead from falling when jumping on the bed when he was little, and hitting a corner. He also has a small scar on his collarbone.
But I’ve gotta let it go
Medical History>> When Ben was four, he was jumping on his head and fell, hitting his head on the corner of his dresser. It left a scar on his forehead, it did little more than leave the mark and scare his parents immensely. He broke his arm riding his bike when he was eight. When he was fourteen he fell from his horse during a jumpers class and broke his collarbone, but it healed rather well with just a minor scar.
Criminal History>> He knows better than to get in trouble with the law. That would certainly send his father over the edge.
Full History>> Ben was born into an influential family living in New York City. His family was high society, and he was required to act the part from a young age. Ben’s father wasn’t born into this world, but rather the opposite, but he managed to work his way up and amazingly made it. He’s very proud of this, but wants his son to appreciate this life and keep it as best he can. Unfortunately, Ben grew to not acknowledge requirements, and he found it hard to fit in, and often ended up embarrassing his parents. Ben’s mother was an adult amateur rider at a hunter/jumper stable a little while north, in Westchester County, and Ben soon took an interest in the horses as well. When he started lessons, it seemed to channel his energy a bit, and he rode from then on.
In elementary school, Ben had a hard time with his school work, and his teachers grew annoyed with his constant action. He would have hated school had it not been for the social interactions there, and soon grew a good group of friends. He began to play saxophone to lead into playing the bassoon, and it became evident that he had quite a bit of musical talent. He still rode regularly and began to show in short stirrup. It had never really bothered him being the only young male rider at his barn, and he found that much was the same on the show circuit when he started showing. He continued this into middle school, and got even more competitive, showing at the highest levels he could. His mother supported him through all of this, and she convinced her husband that it was good for Ben, and that he should allow him to keep riding despite the other disappointments he’d been.
By high school, Ben had grown used to constantly being surrounded by his friends and was growing very, very good at bassoon. He spent a lot of time at the barn with his mare, and was constantly training for shows. He took showing very seriously and during show season was showing up and down the east coast every weekend. Ben had grown very interested in girls before high school, but there his interest grew rapidly, and even more distractions grew as a result of it. Ben’s father had always been a bit annoyed with Ben’s lack of focus, but this came to a peak with how Ben’s grades were doing, even though it was clear that he could be doing much better. When Ben made a stupid mistake at a show one day, it was the straw that broke the camel’s back, and his father exploded. He decided that Ben’s future would be best at boarding school, where Ben would be forced to focus on academics but still be able to ride. He hopes that there, Ben will be sufficiently prepped for college and given the attention and discipline he needs to stay a top rider in the process.
We found love in a hopeless place
