<<Played by Dragonlore>>
Full Name:>>Hadley Mariane Cordova
Nicknames>>none
Age>> 12/3; 15
Staff or Student>> Student
House>> Green
Gender>> Female
Sexuality>> Heterosexual
Face Claim>>Chloe Grace Moretz
Personality>> Hadley is fairly quiet and keeps to herself at first. She’s more reserved than shy. Once one gets to know Hadley a bit better, she starts to show her true personality which is quite intellectual. She has more of a focus on her riding and horse over school, though, and has the tendency to forget homework. Hadley can be a bit scatterbrained, but is always on top of things when it comes to the horses and riding. She loves her horse fiercely and would do anything for the mare, and her mom loves to joke that she has better horse skills than people skills. Hadley loves to learn anything she can about riding, but is also a very “natural” personal. She enjoys more natural horsemanship, as it is what she has grown up with. Hadley is also not the “preppiest” of girls: she looks best in breeches and a polo but give her normal clothes and she has no idea what to do with them, let alone her hair. She keep few people close in her life, simply because she enjoys a laid-back and simpler life. She does suffer from a bit of anxiety, and can come off as awkward at times without meaning to. This young woman also has a bit of a temper when pushed; just because she’s on the quieter side does not mean she isn’t full of fire. Hadley is not one to hold back her feelings and is fairly up front and honest, even if the truth hurts. She cares about those she’s close to and will bend over backwards for them, but isn’t afraid to put her boot down if she feels taken advantage of.
Likes>> the smell of fresh shavings, healthy food, plenty of riding time, trail riding, reading
Dislikes>> Loudness, people who interrupt her, ill-mannered horses, seeing neglected horses, being told she’s a bad owner, being yelled at
Fears>> Failing her horse, failing her mom
Hopes>> To have her own barn someday and to compete in the A Circuit as an adult
Secrets>> Her dad isn’t in the picture
Appearance>> Hadley is a bit on the smaller age for her size, standing at 5’1”. She has fair skin and light-blond hair which falls just to her elbows. While she can put together a nice outfit with breeches and riding gear, she tends to fail with normal clothes and oftentimes just resorts to jeans and a shirt. Hoodies are her favorite things to wear and her western Ariat boots are fairly worn. Hadley owns an Ariat jacket she wears all the time during the chillier seasons. During the summer and warmer weather, she wears tank tops. Growing up with her own small barn, Hadley has a bit more muscle than your average girl of sixteen; her arms are well-shaped, her back has a decent amount of muscle to it, and her legs…well, she has “rider’s legs”. If Hadley were to kick something, it would be the end of it. Her nails are never painted and are typically a bit on the ragged side from her constantly picking at them. Her hands have slight calluses from mucking stalls, moving hay and lifting water buckets. In the warmer seasons, Hadley will develop ridiculous tan lines from riding gloves and tank tops. She has a light spread of freckles on her cheekbones and doesn’t bother with make-up unless she feels like putting on a bit of mascara for once. Her hair is usually back in a French braid and rarely ever let loose or down. While Hadley is actually pretty, its difficult for her to shape that or show it simply because she has never learned the ways of putting outfits together or doing nice things with her hair and make-up; her light beauty is something that is subtle.
Markings>> Hadley has several scars on her legs and her heels from riding and breaking in hunt boots. Her ears are pierced, but that is it.
Medical History>> Hadley has issues with her neck after having a bad fall when she was 15, and often times needs to be seen by a chiropractor
Criminal History>> none
Full History>> Hadley has always had horses in her life, and her mom whom she is close to, likes to joke that Hadley was riding before she was born; her mom rode up until 2 weeks before she had Hadley. Hadley could ride before she could walk and took to the sport and hobby just like her mom. Her dad was only in the picture until she was nine and had a temper on him; her mom, being the horse woman she was, told him to leave. He did and didn’t come back. Hadley didn’t mind, as she developed slight anxiety because of her dad, his yelling and slightly abusive nature.
Hadley took to riding English over western and her mom was her trainer. Sometimes they went to clinics or lessons together, and her mom would haul the two of them all over, even if it was just a weekend of trail riding. Hadley and her mom became very close.
The one thing about Hadley and her mom was that they didn’t have a lot of money. Her mom bought their small five-stall barn when she was married to Hadley’s dad in Georgia. They bought it on foreclosure and were able to pay the small property off fairly easily. During the divorce, Hadley’s mom won the property and Hadley’s dad disappeared from her life forever, without a single cent in child support. Hadley’s mom had to stop going to horse shows so that Hadley could continue on with it and when she was twelve, she started competing in small hunter/jumper schooling shows. It didn’t Hadley long to figure out that she loved the Jumpers. She advanced from her little appaloosa pony to an off-the-track Thoroughbred when she was fourteen. She and her mom looked and looked and everything that suited Hadley – and for her to grow with and into – was out of their price range. Hadley had a saved fund of birthdays and Christmases and her mom had a small amount from her job she had to pick up. Out of boredom one weekend, Hadley’s mom decided to go to an auction. Hadley didn’t care for these, but went anyways…and was glad she did. Isadora was a five year old Thoroughbred mare who had raced on the track up until she was four. She stood at just over sixteen hands and was such a dark bay she was almost black; a star adorned her forehead, just over her left eye and her muzzle had a small, tiny strip on it. One of her hind legs had a small sock. She was ribby, her coat had no sheen, her mane and tail were a mess; Hadley wanted her. They brought the mare home for three hundred dollars, only to realize that she had been drugged. “Dora”, as they started calling her, was high-strung, spooked at the tiniest of things, couldn’t be cross-tried and had worse manners than the appaloosa pony. She was a handful but she was Hadley’s and Hadley put her heart and soul into the mare. Six months after purchasing her, Hadley found that she had been retrained in Hunter Under Saddle – if she lifted her inside rein, wiggled her outside and put her inside leg on her, the mare collected right up and dropped her head, rounding her back. Hadley knew, no matter how much work it took, this mare would turn into a great jumper. And Isadora did…once she calmed down. She had to be lunged before ridden, but Hadley kept at it, every single day she could, with more guidance from her mom. Isadora put on weight, began to calm down, and generally came back to life. One day, when Hadley was schooling the mare over some small cross-rail fences, a motorcycle went by, revving it up; Isadora bolted and threw Hadley, right into the small, run-down arena’s fence. Hadley ended up with a concussion, two broken ribs, a very injured neck and several bruises. It took Hadley a while to regain her confidence with Isadora, but she got back on when she was allowed to, per her doctor.
Not too long after this, Hadley’s dad showed up out of the blue, sitting with her mom at the kitchen table after she came home from school one day. He wanted her to come stay with him. Hadley would have made a sailor blush with the things that came from her mouth. Later that night, her mom mentioned a school…that her dad had brought up. It focused on riding. They had spoken of it in years past, but Hadley never asked because she knew she and her mom didn’t have the money. Her dad did, though. He decided he wanted to be a part of her life, that he got his act together and wanted a second chance. He would pay for her to go to this school, he would pay for her horse shows – any and all of them – just to make everything up to her and her mom. But, she had to visit him at least once on breaks, and he wanted to come to her shows. It was something Hadley had wanted for a long time, but all it was was a dream. She knew what her mom taught her about riding was priceless, and she knew she was a good rider from the ribbons she had won at the schooling shows. But, dreams always had a price and Hadley made herself content with their small farm house and small barn with an arena they didn’t have the ability to work into that fine footing. Her mom encouraged her to take this opportunity and Hadley obliged, on one condition: if her dad ever said one ill thing, she would figure out a way to take him to court for all the missed child support. He said this was reasonable and agreed.
