Height>> 16.2
Personality>> Hoot is a bit reserved when meeting new people, he’s not scared, just cautious. With this said though, once you have taken the time to get to know him, he is extremely loyal to those he trusts.
No matter what is going around, how cold it’s been, wet, windy, anything, and this guy never gets sick.
Hoot hates sharing his stall with other animals and will chase away any barn cat who thinks they should be allowed to sit on the edge of his stall. His also isn’t the stall for dogs to try and rest in either. He doesn’t mind dogs, but they aren’t allowed in his stall!
Out in the pasture he is happier being in with the mares as he will pick fights with other geldings and it seems that his personal bubble is very large when it comes to other horses of his gender - though he doesn’t seemed to mind them as much when being ridden, just when he’s turned out.
He is a pain to lead as he doesn’t walk nicely, he dances along, goes any direction but where you want him to go. Oh, that’s where your toes were? Well you should keep a better eye on my feet.
Hoot loves sweet potatoes, his favourite snack are homemade potato chips, the nice thick ones, or wedges - if you want to serve them with sour cream, all the better!
Caution Around>> Flailing people (the kind that don't know to stay still around horses).
Basic History>> Hoot was a bit of an accidental arrival, as when his dam was purchased, they hadn't realised that she was in foal, and it wasn't until she began to get a little round and the owners thought she had a worm infestation, that they found out.
Sold as a yearling, Hoot's training started right then, and he was broken to the saddle too early and was already being ridden in dressage shows as a two year old, and then sold on again before he turned three.
Things slowed down after that and it wasn't until he reached six that he was reintroduced to the show circuit, this time as a novice eventer, and he took to it like a duck to water.
Hoot belonged to friends of the elder Mr and Mrs Rice, and his owner was preparing to head off on her big OE, so they offered to purchase the gelding, with the agreement that they would remain in touch with the girl's parents and let them know how the gelding was getting on, and should Seth not wish to continue with the "riding thing" after he graduated, then Hoot would return to the home he had grown up in.
