It took Paige a while to locate the pastures, since map reading had never exactly been a talent of hers, but she still maintained that she could have done it in half the time had Piper not insisted on accompanying her down here on her search. Her sister was not only even worse with maps than she was but was also possessed of a certainty of character which meant that she not only refused to admit defeat, but she also refused to ask for any directions, which did not make things easy. Wandering around aimlessly was somewhat difficult with a horse in tow, but at last, the brunette managed to locate the fields and, stopping to consult the signage, finally elected to lead her horse into the third.

Piper didn't like being lost. This was a fact which she had made public numerous times during their impromptu exploration session, which was quite ironic seeing as the reason why she had decided to join her sister on the way down to the pastures was in fact to avoid this precise situation. The way she saw it, the sooner she found her way around, the sooner she could stop looking like a lost idiot- which was in fact what she had been doing for what felt like the last half an hour. Still, she wasn't about to ask anyone the way. That would just make her look even more stupid. At last, though, they managed to find the pastures, and Piper leaned against the fence as her sister led her mare into one of them.

Jessa had been sitting on the ground of pasture three, Zo grazing nearby, Alien standing a little bit further away. Her phone was playing music softly, while Jessa had a notebook open on her lap, trying to figure out a good cadence to her rhymes. Poetry wasn't easy, not good poetry. There was a reason she preferred reading it to writing it, but she still had to try!
Zohariel raised his head, and Jessa followed his gaze. She spotted a girl leading a new-looking horse through the gate. Although she couldn't be sure over the distance, the girl looked new too - At least, Jessa couldn't recognize her, or the girl standing at the fence watching the other two. She raised a hand in greeting, though, just in case either of them looked her way.

Waiting to make sure that Piper had closed the gate, Paige led her horse a little further into the paddock and ran one hand briefly down the palomino's neck, absentmindedly picking at a knot in her flowing mane for a moment. Nodding to herself, the brunette carefully unbuckled the mare's headcollar, slipping it off her nose and slinging it over her shoulder before stepping back and contemplating the horse.
Or at least, that was what she started by contemplating, but in the process, Paige caught sight of a girl sitting on the ground further into the pasture and, even as she raised a hand to return the greeting, she wondered whether whoever it was had stopped to consider that it might not be the most sensible of places to sit.

Piper hadn't expected her sister to take so long over the process of taking off a headcollar- if she had done, then she probably wouldn't have come. She would have stayed in her dorm and got on with unpacking, which admittedly wasn't the most exciting of pursuits in itself, but at least she would have actually had some clothes to wear. What she was wearing just at present, she had chosen for the sole reason that it was on the top of her case, and she wasn't particularly happy with it, but she had been in a hurry.
For a moment or two, the brunette kicked her heels idly against the fence, before her never too stringent attention was diverted through sheer boredom and she glanced over to see what her sister was up to. Apparently, she was waving at someone and, interest piqued, she dismounted from the fence and began walking across to the figure on the ground, calling out a greeting as she went.

Jessa smiled as the first girl, the girl in the pasture, waved back. Then the girl on the fence started walking over, and Jessa pushed herself to her feet, flipping her notebook closed and tucking the pencil into the binding. She returned fence-girl's greeting with a "Hi there!" of her own, and as she looked again, noticed that the two girls looked very much alike. Too alike to be anything other than twins. That meant they certainly were new - Jessa would have recognized them otherwise at this point.

Glancing over her shoulder, Paige spotted her sister walking towards her, although it admittedly took her a moment- she was a little out of focus at the moment. Clearly, Piper had also spotted the girl on the ground, and she waited for her twin to catch her up before they both carried on to meet the stranger where she stood on the ground. "Great to meet you," she said softly. "Hey, I'm Paige."

Meeting Paige halfway across the paddock, Piper slipped her arm through the other girl's and they continued at a marginally slower pace to make their way over to the stranger with whom they had been unwittingly sharing the space. She looked nice enough, in Piper's opinion; she was smiling, after all, and she had, thus far, avoided making such comments as 'What are you doing here?'. "And I'm Piper," she added to the end of her sister's greeting.

Jessa nodded at the introductions as the girls approached together, not missing Zo's moving away as the girls approached, but not too bothered by the horse's antics, "Nice to meet you both. I'm Jessa." She pointed out her two horses, "Zo, the roan, and Alien, the buckskin." She considered the two, and the horse they'd brought along "Getting everyone settled in?"

Paige gave the brunette a soft smile as she turned to one side to look over the two horses that the girl indicated. Nice enough, she supposed, although admittedly, she was very much biased in that her own horse would always be far and away her favourite of any presented to her. "Yes, that's right," she agreed brightly, running her fingertips through her long hair.

For once in her life, Piper didn't have the chance to get a word in edgeways before her sister had answered the question posed, and she gave Paige a comical look of surprised. Generally, her twin preferred to avoid human contact wherever possible, but maybe she was changing in this new atmosphere. Who knew? Deprived of her chance to answer, the girl posed another question instead. "What are you doing here?"

Jessa smiled at Paige's response - It was Paige, right? - and was about to ask how far they had traveled when the other girl - Piper? - asked a question of her own. It was a very blunt question, and Jessa took a moment to formulate a response, "Here specifically? Spending time with Zo. What was I doing? Trying to figure out how to write poetry. Here at the academy? The same as you, probably." She smiled, directing her question back at Piper, "What about you? You didn't bring a horse out."

Rolling her eyes at her sister's characteristic lack of anything resembling either tact or subtlety, Paige gave the other girl an apologetic look, wondering as she did so how long it was going to take for Piper to either annoy or insult everyone in the school. She gave it about a week personally, but then she'd been wrong in the past, and she supposed that one had to allow time for people to actually get to know her twin... The irritating thing was that people would keep on getting them mixed up...

Piper shrugged and nodded her acceptance of the other girl's answer. It was at least sufficiently detailed, she supposed, although as to why anyone in possession of a brain cell would actually want to spend their free time- worse, their holiday- in writing poetry was a complete mystery to Piper, but then she'd never been the most academic of people. So unlike Paige. "No, I left Sixty to get used to her stall," she returned, flicking her hair back over her shoulder. "She's all stretched out, and I think she's had about as much as she can take of new things today."

Jessa noticed Paige’s look and sent a small smile and a half-shrug her way. She hoped she’d get more of a chance to talk to her at some point too - But Piper seemed to be the more talkative sort, so to be polite, Jessa refocused on her to listen to the brunette’s response to her question, “Makes sense. What do you guys compete in?” She purposely addressed her question to both girls, not wanting to shut Paige out totally.
