Kate had promised Peter that she would meet him on the first floor of Red Ribbon at noon with all her things so that they wouldn't be late to the airport to catch their flight back home for the summer. Both Holden children were staying at their home in England for the summer, as their mother had insisted, and they didn't really get to visit much during the year, except for at Christmas. Kate had packed her things the night before, and was determined to ride before she left, even if it meant being a little squished for time.
She woke very early, before the sun rose, and got her riding clothes on which she'd set out the night before. Yawning, made her way down to the barn, thinking out what she'd need to do. After she rode, Cailin would need to be cooled down and settled in before she went back to her room and shower. Before she left she'd want to find food, so hopefully she'd be able to make a trip to the cafeteria before she needed to meet Peter.
The sun was already peeking up by the time she got to the White Oak Barn. She found Poet first and scratched him on his withers before getting Cailin's tack and finding the mare in her stall. She groomed the mare rather quickly, but thoroughly, and tacked her up before leading her out to one of the jumping rings. Another perk of riding early was that all of the show jumping rings were empty, she had her choice of them. She chose one with a nice looking course in it and made her way in, closing the gate behind her and mounting.
Cailin was feeling powerful as Kate began to warm her up, and she was glad that she'd chosen this ring, as the heights of the jumps were higher, and Cailin would clearly be up to it this morning. It was still cool from the morning dew, and the sand in the ring was a bit damp as well. Kate reveled in the sound of Cailin's hooves hitting the footing as she cantered her around the ring, preparing to begin jumping.
