Peter sat on one of the stools in the art room, his bag of things before him. He'd come to the art room expecting that once he got there he'd know what he wanted to do, but this was not the case. Looking around, he inhaled the scent of paint and paper and some harder to identify scents that were characteristic to art rooms. His gaze wandered over to the wall his art class had covered in murals. Focusing in on his own painting, he analyzed it, wondering what he could have done better. It was a painting of a Polaroid photo featuring the back of a girl with an apple on her head.
As he'd worked on it, the girl had come to look more and more like Avery, even from the back. He had never showed her, but had planned to eventually. Now it was too late. Avery had left Blue Ridge abruptly, leaving Peter hurt, with a lot of questions. Turning his attention back to his things, he pulled a bunch of envelopes of photos out of his bag. They were all from his year at Blue Ridge. Now seemed an appropriate time to review them, since it was summer and he would be returning home very soon.
Pulling each stack of pictures out of its envelope, he began to flip through them. The majority of them had been taken with his normal camera, but a couple were from his old fashioned Polaroid. The first set were of Blue Ridge's campus, and looked to be from when he had first gotten there. There were a couple of Thimble, and a lot of candid photos of other students. The next stack was of horses in the pastures, followed by some interesting ones he'd taken of various random things.
A bigger stack consisted of pictures of Avery and himself, but mostly of Avery. Since he carried his camera around so much, it was only natural that he have so many pictures of her, since he's spent so much time with her. She was in the bay area where they would meet, and in the barn, and there was also a picture of the cupcake and poster she'd made him for his birthday. These photos captivated him the most. Avery had been his closest companion at Blue Ridge, and she'd seemed the happiest she'd been yet before she'd left. He still couldn't figure out why she'd gone.
