He grew up from a very unstable family, he got his first job - as a paper boy - to help pay the rent when he was only 8. Going through school, life didn't get much easier as along with moving into a harder job, he also had to keep up with the schoolwork so that he could keep up a C average so that he didn't lose his place on any sports teams.
