AIDANLOKIBATESON
<<Played by Aidan>>
Shine a light through an open door
Full Name>>Aidan Loki Bateson
Nicknames>>Aide, Aidan, Loki
Age>> 17th June; 14
Staff or Student>> Student
House>> Blue Ribbon House
Gender>> Male
Sexuality>> Questioning
Face Claim>> Colin Ford
Turn away 'cause I need you more
Personality>> Aidan tends to come across as either exceptionally quiet and shy or exceptionally talkative. In a new situation he tends to ramble on out of sheer nerves, and a feeling of pressure to try and fit in. He tends to come across as pretty awkward and almost like he doesn't understand fully how to socialize. In a group situation without someone else shows they're capable of leading and setting a schedule he will try and take lead himself.
He can have moments of exceptional stubbornness, as well as grow extremely distracted easily, and hates when things get out of place (especially coloured pencils or pens that have to be organised just so). However if you get under all the negative traits there's someone who while he may be awkward is friendly, talkative, and passionate about certain things - namely photography, horses and dogs, he also enjoys bird watching and its one of the few times he's still.
Likes>> Reading, Walking Thor, Solitude, succeeding with a difficult horse, cross country, unexplored countryside, hidden places
Dislikes>> Having to work in groups, people (especially being asked to meet new people), panic attacks, something changing unexpectedly, note taking
Fears>> Loss of control, being on a horse that's too fast (he likes horses that he knows have brakes even if they're awkward), and the dark (he tends to sleep with a light on as he's sure somethings going to "get" him).
Hopes>> To get off Citalopram and anti-depressants, to be able to cope without any help
Secrets>> He used to self harm.
It’s the way I’m feeling I just can’t deny
Appearance>> Aidan isn't exactly on the tall side, he's not hit his growth point yet, however he is rather gangly limbed. His legs in particularly seem slightly too long for his body and he's not got the best co-ordination. Indeed he's rather prone to tripping up over... well air. He tends to prefer long sleeved clothing, shirts and the like to t-shirts, though he does occasionally wear them. He's also normally seen in jeans, or jodhpurs. When riding its rare to see him without gloves, riding hat or body protector. He prefers to feel 'secure' than anything else.
His hair is light brown and rather scruffy and his eyes are a grey-blue shade, though in some lights they seem more green then blue. His skin is lightly tanned from spending so much time outside over the holidays in the UK.
Markings>> Scars on the inside of his right arm from self harm
But I’ve gotta let it go
Medical History>>
Wasn't quite sure where to put this but Aidan has the A-A-D triangle as I refer to it. Aspergers, Anxiety and Depression. The three feed into each other. For the depression he's on Citalopram with the side effect it tends to cause issues with him losing all energy after midday at random. He has also in his past self-harmed. Due to these issues he does have Thor as an Emotional Support Dog.
Criminal History>> Nope
Full History>> Aidan Bateson comes from a single parent household in the UK. It wasn't always joy and laughter, however he found such at the idea of horse riding. His Aspergers tendancies showed up at their strongest even before he was diagnosed. At nursery (Kindegarten for the American system ) where for the most part he wouldn't play nice with others, he struggled to grasp the idea or concept of sharing, or allow group games well. However creative ideas kept him happy, he loved playing the role of the Donkey in the play.
By the time he reached Primary (Elementary school for american system) school he was diagnosed with Aspergers. Didn't stop him being disruptive in classes - especially if he was struggling to understand a concept, so he had sessions alone with a special needs person to help him catch up. It was during middle school phase that he hit a major snag. He'd already gained Thor by this point but he wasn't exactly trained. This was when the anxiety and depression hit the major low due to bullying not just from students for being perceived as 'different' as 'not quite right' but the staff as well.
Branded a liar by the staff after an incident he turned to the knife briefly. Enough to need hospitalisastion. There were only two things that dragged him through. Thor, who he very much saw as his dog, even though originally he'd been the family pet and horse riding. That was something he'd started after much begging and pleading at age 7. Despite how tight finances were.
After the incident he was moved riding stables to avoid individuals from his past, as well as moved schools. It wasn't enough though, as some of those from his past followed him. The bullying started again. When his mother heard about Blue Ridge Academy she managed to get the money to get him in, as well as pay for him to come over. She didn't have the money to go over herself as well. The only other member of the family that went with Aidan was Thor, not just as a pet, as his Emotional Support Dog. He does have a Doctors note to prove it.
This for Aidan is meant to be a new start.
We found love in a hopeless place
Pet Name>> Thor
Registered Name>> N/A
Age>> 8
Gender>> Male (He's had the snip though)
Species>> Canine
Breed>> Australian Shepherd
Registry>> ??
Personality>> Thor is an Emotional Support Dog, and as thus accompanies Aidan almost everywhere, at least where he's allowed. Thor has been trained to sit and lay down on command, and his 'job' (as a working dog) is to try and keep Aidan somewhat 'balanced'. Whether this is by being company, or being a distraction, its quite usual for Thor to glance up at Aidan, to be watching his owner as much as everything else. That's not to say that's all he is though. He's hyper, outgoing and loves to meet new people, and if he's not focusing on his job you can bet he'll be wanting to say hi to everyone around. He's also exceptionally obedient, and its normal for him to be sat almost quivering with excitement if he spots a new person and Aidan's asked him to sit.
History>> Thor was originally the runt of the litter, and he always was quiet. He joined the Bateson household following Aidan begging his mother for him and that was that. Thor helped Aidan understand the concept of 'sharing' when Aidan started to play with Thors toys with the dog. It made much more sense to his mind to allow the dog to play with them on his own as well as keep them for himself.
It was also Aidan who did much of the basic training, though he did have help to horse proof him. When Aidan shut himself away Thor sat outside his door and whined and cried and scratched at it until someone else came. Since that point Thor's status was upgraded in the house as he became the Emotional Support Dog for Aidan. He travelled across the pond alongside him ((well not literally but)).
