Geometry Class

Manfred tapped his fingers on the center island of the teacher's lounge, where a paper cutter permanently rested, alongside a temporary companion of a cardboard box, which held five of the school's cameras, fully charged and with an empty SD card loaded onto each. The middle-aged geometry teacher had planned something fun for his students, something that involved a bit of a field trip, and as he waited for the printer to spew out the last of the scavenger hunt lists, he couldn't help but feel that the class would enjoy it.

After the printer silenced, its work done, Manfred scooped up the pile of papers and then tossed them into the box of cameras, which he then picked up. He made his way down the hall to his classroom, where he deposited the box onto his desk. Without taking the time to look around his classroom, Manfred uncapped one of the whiteboard markers and wrote onto the board in the front of the room, 'Form groups of no less than two, no more than three. When you have a group, please sit together and wait for further instructions.' Nodding at his short, but to the point, message, Manfred sat down at his desk and wiggled his laptop's mouse, waking up the computer so that he could take attendance as the class came in, giving them more time for the activity.

Oliver walked between and around the other members of the student-body as he made hos way down the hallways of the academic building and squeezed his way out of the mass to enter the room where Geometry class was held.

He lifted his hand in greeting to the teacher, he could see that the man had his computer on so he didn't want to take the teacher's attention away from the computer in case he was reading something important.

The Senior walked across the classroom and dropped his bag by the chair of his favourite desk. The desk was a row away from the tables against the wall. So Oliver always had good light to work with and could never be accused of day dreaming out the window. He then dropped down in the chair and began taking out his notebook and pencil case. He then turned his attention to the whiteboard, pen poised above his paper, ready to take down any important notes. His eyebrows lifted his eyebrows in interest. Working in groups was always fun. As he was currently they only student in the room though, he would have to wait for others to arrive before he could form a group.

Erica checked the schedule in her head. Remembering how she needed to head over to her next class, which was geometry. She let out a slight heavy sigh as she went on with the day. She walked through the halls and into the classroom in which the lesson was held. She closed the door silently beside her. Not wanting to attract any attention, but now looking around. There was only one student who arrived earlier than her, a boy who seemed to be a senior. Well, older than her, at least. She gave a small grin to the boy the time she spotted him, not wanting it to be awkwar, just ignoring him. She then looked back over to the teacher who was instructing the class. Giving him a light smile and saying her greetings to him before heading off to an empty seat (which really wasn't hard to find one) to read what was on the whiteboard.

She stood at a seat in the front and started reading through the message written with the whiteboard markers. She skimmed through it quickly, even though it was some fairly short instructions. She glanced at the other empty seats. Knowing there will be more students that will be piling in later, she just wondered if there will be enough students attending that she will be able to partner up with at least one person she knows. It would make an awkward moment if she would have to introduce herself, once again, to someone she doesn't know. Trying to avoid that moment just for one class today. She just gave a ghostly shrug towards herself before sitting in the seat she was standing at. Sometimes enjoying sitting in the front, being able to see everything and all. She waited patiently (at least trying to) for the other students to arrive.

Ryan entered the classroom for Geometry, hoping that today would be something interesting. His previous class had been boring, and he didn't ever like having two slow classes after each other... Not that he would be able to change anything about it if they were. He smiled briefly at Mr. Aachen before he read the board, smiling slightly to himself as he got his wish. Working together boded at least a break from lecture. Glancing around the room, he recognized Oliver from his beginner Western Class, and it would be less awkward to work with him than to introduce himself to another person.

Going to stand by Oliver's table, Ryan slid into a seat and smiled, "Can I work with you?" If Oliver said no, Ryan would move again, but he doubted the other male would do something like that unless two of his tighter friends entered the room, which didn't seem plausible. Waiting for the boy across the table to respond, he looked up at the board again, reading the last line of the instructions and then at the teacher, who was sitting at his computer, apparently marking them present as they walked in.

Avery sighed to herself very slightly as she made her way to the math hallway. She didn’t particularly hate or like geometry as she was a math sort of person; in the past however, she simply found the class a bit boring. Hopefully, from the past lessons, Avery found herself satisfied with the current math class. She was still a bit groggy from coming back in with winter break, but she found her classroom fast enough and with that she immediately glanced at the board. To her surprise, only a few three other students were in the classroom, but that was alright. At least she was not late.

The brunette played around with her lips for a moment before realizing the two boys were paired together. Figuring the blonde didn’t have a partner yet, she moved up to sit next to her, her usual purposeful face in charge. “Hi. I’m Avery and we’re partners?” It was barely a question, but even she knew that not asking to be partners with someone she didn’t know didn’t exactly work out the best for anyone. She managed a curt smile, not liking or disliking the girl as she hadn’t met her yet. Avery had certainly seen her somewhere around the school though – which was expected.

Another academic class followed suit of the last one. As Noah headed to Geometry the other students went to their class. The swarm of people in the hallways was almost unnatural, so many bodies in one place. Finally Noah hopped off the stream and into the classroom. Seeing that there were already four other people and the teacher in the room, the sixteen year old took note to the board. Math wasn’t exactly his strong point, as school in general and he didn’t ‘get along’. There were pros and cons about equal quantity of each in working with partners.

For Noah since he wasn’t the smartest person out there and most of the time made a fool of himself. Then again when he kept quiet he actually got things down and basically was a flea on a dog, just along for the ride. As two other boys were sitting together and the two girls were together, the sixteen year old just sat by himself. He figured that there would be someone else floating in soon and he wouldn’t have to be a loner. Although it wasn’t like himself to not be social he just didn’t click with the people on an intellectual level as he did just socially. So just sitting there would have to do for now.

Jenna hummed softly as she walked towards her math class, happy to get to Geometry. Though she would never admit it, she actually loved math. It came easily to her and if ever it wasn't, she enjoyed the challenge it gave her. She hid it from others here well and was always praying for days when they didn't have to work with partners. When she reached the door she gave a sigh of relief, ready to start class. She saw the board as she walked in the classroom, having an complete breakdown without showing it. After giving Mr. Aachen a greeting she scanned the room for possible partners with a severe silent internal groan.

With only one person alone she walked over to the boy with a smile on her face. "Hey, I'm Jenna. Do you mind if we partner up?" She took a seat next to him, hoping he was okay with the loud mouth math nerd as his partner for a day. She sat her bag down next to her, and pulled out her geometry notebook. As usual she titled it with her name, the date and class, waiting to get the class rolling. Lightly she tapped her pen on her red notebook impatiently,

Get moving genius Sam thought to herself as she walked briskly out of her English class and towards her Geometry class. Today was just not her lucky day and now she was taking longer than she wanted to getting to class. She hated being one of the last students to class because she usually never got a favorable seat. Praying as she got closer, Sam hoped that she wouldn't have to worry about getting a nice spot. Quickly she made her way to they class, bounding in the door, never hearing the late bell, which was an achievement for her.

After greeting the teacher she looked at the board. No more than three, she thought as she made her way over to the group of two girls. She really only had one option since she couldn't work alone as the others were all guys except for one group. "Do you guys mind one more? I'm Sam by the way.". She recognized Erica from other classes but the other girl didn't seem all that familiar to her, but she had seen her around campus once or twice. She put on a rather friendly face but the other brunette did not seem to Sam as the friendliest of people.
