Staff or Student>> Student
House>> Red Ribbon
Gender>> Female
Sexuality>> Heterosexual / Questioning

Turn away 'cause I need you more
Personality>> Cassidy isn't a trouble maker by nature, however she is fascinated by punk- and counter-culture. Her style is defined by this, so she often gives off an air of being quite strong and opinionated. When in a crowd or around people she doesn't know well, her attitude and speech patterns are ones of nonchalance and often apathy. Rather, these are defence mechanisms, for she has troubles connecting with people after having a few bad relationships early on in her freshmen year.
Despite her seemingly close-mindedness when someone first meets her, once she gets to know him/her she becomes much more friendly and willing to share and engage her thoughts with others. She is naturally quite intelligent and has a deep pattern of thoughts, though she rarely puts them to use. But this causes her to be a very interesting individual to talk to, if she feels comfortable enough to share. For these individuals she does open up to, she can also become a very dedicated and caring friend. She becomes very attached to these people she considers her friends and truly only wants the absolute best for them.
When it comes to the barn and working with her horses, however, she is a little more rigid. She is very wary of any training technique or move that causes major distress to the horse and can be very opinionated about it, however she has learned to keep her cool and stick to herself and work with her own horse. When pushed, she will fight tooth and nail for her beliefs about riding and training, and this has (not uncommonly) caused problems with past riding instructors and clinicians. Cassidy believes that groundwork is the basis for all work with horses and does lunging and work at liberty on a regular basis.
Likes>> Cassidy enjoys the following: Alternative, Rock, Punk, Hardcore, and Metal music; a good gallop with a fit and happy horse; Red Bull; reading about horses in history - such as fantastic rachorses of the past or training manuals from hundreds of years ago; tattoos; attending concerts and/or music festivals; long Trail Rides; and although she's only tried it twice, she really enjoyed marijuana (and really, the first time she didn't even get high).
Dislikes>> Wile she holds a bot of distaste for: know-it-alls who actually know nothing; showing in the Hunter/Equitation ring; cold weather, especially if it is cold, windy weather; working with certain warmbloods or heavy irish horses, or really any horse that is naturally dull or insensitive; when people judge others quickly; and probably most of all, being bored.
Fears>> Her greatest fears include: losing her family, which includes her horse, before she's ready; truly getting close to others is terrifying for her, as it hasn't gone well in the past; casuing harm to any horse she is riding or working with due to her bad decisions.
Hopes>> This is hard, because it implies that Cassidy thinks about the future. She doesn't much. One hope could be that her horse is seen for being everything she can be, that she reaches her full potential and is happy, healthy, and sound. Though she has no real plans as to what she wants to do after high school, she does want to dabble in breeding sport horses for eventing in her lifetime.
Secrets>> Cassidy's friends in middle school, for a little while, hung out with a few older high school students who practiced in the occult frequently. Though she never participated herself, she sat in on a fair amount of curses and ouija board conversations. However, she stopped spending time with them after they performed an animal sacrifice while she was there. She did nothing about it and never told anyone, but she is haunted by the guilt of letting that cat get slaughtered right before her eyes..
It’s the way I’m feeling I just can’t deny
Appearance>> Cassidy has an average or athletic body type depending on how much she's exercising (in general, she's a little fluffier in the winter and more athletic in the summer). Her face could be considered plain, but she has a way of expressing herself through her facial expression that makes her much more striking. She keeps her hair very short, and while it is blonde naturally she picked up the habit of dying it pixie-blond her freshman year with the interest of making herself stand out more. She has a deep appreciation for what makeup can do to enhance features of the face, and chooses to wear it from time to time. Her clothes range greatly depending on what she is feeling at the moment, as she will wear a handsome button-down with sharp jeans one day and a tank top with mis-matching jacket and pants. However, when she rides she always makes a point to look "professional," as was drilled into her by her dressage coach before attending Blue Ridge. Nice, flattering britches with a polo or otherwise collared sports shirt, and sharp-looking paddock boots with matching half chaps, the ones that look like tall boots themselves, is what she wears when her intentions are to ride.
Markings>> The skin on her knees is rough, due to scar tissue forming there after being dumped off a horse onto a blacktop road during a foxhunt. Her ears have been pierced since childhood however she has not worn earrings since she was ten. Although she has no tattoos, she often draws four stars on her wrist with a Sharpie (symbolistic of the highest level of eventing), and she plans on getting these for her first tattoo once she turns eighteen. She covers them up with a bracelet or watch usually.
But I’ve gotta let it go
Medical History>> Cassidy is generally fit as a fiddle. Her hippie parents didn't always watch her hygiene as well as many parents would, so she developed a killer immune system. She shattered her toe once which causes her to have a slightly irregular gait during or after extensive running or exercise, but otherwise it isn't a bother, and has never affected her riding.
Criminal History>> Cassidy has never officially been in trouble, however she has attended a few parties as a 8th grader or freshman where alcohol or illicit substances were present. A couple of these were shut down by police, however she specifically was never in trouble with the law, and she has no record.
Full History>> "Emily" was born to borderline Hippie parents who were still trying to fit in to the world themselves. Though they named their daughter a typical 90s name, they preached enviornmentalism and compassion for all living things.
As a young child, Emily was exposed to animals of all shapes and kinds and lived in a petting zoo of a house. This evolved to getting her own pony when she was eight and became enrolled in riding lessons at the local stable. She grew up a vegetarian and has never had a desire to change that.
Her nickname came from her hatred of how common Emily was in her community. When she was mistakenly called "Cassidy" by a boy she had a crush on in fourth grade, she decided that she liked Cassidy much more than her given name and did not correct him. She started having everyone call her Cassidy, and to this day this is the name she goes by. In middle school, Cassidy became friends with a group of her peers who were very open and forgiving, but were also very interested in the current trends of alternative and hardcore/punk music at the time. It was here Cassidy identified herself with counter-culture, however she was never a bad kid and still lives with the morals her parents taught her - cause as little harm as possible.
She also discovered foxhunting and moved her pony to a barn that speciallized in hunting and dressage, which evolved into a love for eventing. Outgrowing her pony, she sold him to another kid at the barn and invested in a off-track thoroughbred. During this time, she was a fairly carefree and easy-going kid, as she had little to no fears about her life.
However, when she went to high school, she was seperated from many of her friends, and they few she had left were having troubles of their own. She fell hard for a charming guy by the second week of school, a guy she almost lost her virginity to. However when she finally put her foot down and said she wasn't ready after only three weeks of talking and 'dating,' he went on to ignore her and get involved with older and more promiscuous girls in the school. She was devastated, and she did not get the social/emotional support she needed from her friends. So, she withdrew from those around her, feeling deeply betrayed. She relegated all of her extra time to working with her OTTB, using the excuse that her training was finally coming together and it was exciting.
When her ever-caring parents saw how quickly and drastically their daughter's personality shifted, they talked to her to see what they could do. At first she wanted lessons with a local trainer who was known for his ability to work with horses at liberty and in high-schooling dressage, though he rejected modern dressage for being too restrictive on the horse. She then spent most of her time working with him and her horse, however by the end of the year her parents were still worried at her sullenness otherwise. She replied that she wanted to leave her high school, and wherever she went, she wanted to take her horse with her. So, they transferred her to Blue Ridge, hoping to get their happy-go-lucky daughter back.
We found love in a hopeless place
Pet Name>> Winston
Registered Name>> N/A
Age>> About a year
Gender>> Male
Species>> Rodent; specifically a rat.
Breed>> Fancy Rat (i.e. the kind one keeps as a pet)
Registry>> N/A
Personality>> Winston is typical of a young rat. He is playful and sociallized and has never bit anyone. He is quicker to tire than most rats are from running around and interacting with his human, after a time he will quiet down and sleep next to whoever was playing with him. In general he tends to be more docile or subdued that average and plays on his own less than others might, however this is just because he has a fairly laid-back personality.
History>> Not much to say here, he was picked from a local breeder's litter by Cassidy's parents shortly after she started high school. He has lived with the family since.
Appearance>> Gray and White cap pattern. This is what he looks like.
