Personality>> Evany, at first, seems unapproachable. She really is a sweet girl on the inside, but a tough, smooth exterior keeps her from showing her deeper personality to others. People tend to start off a little bit uneasy around her, as she is quick to anger, very clear about what she wants, and not about to take any crap from anyone, no matter how important. She greatly values her dignity and pride, so she always makes an effort to present herself as well-put-together, clean, untroubled, invulnerable. At work she is resourceful, mindful and precise, going about her responsibilities with a real sense of purpose. At home, she is similarly neat and well-organized, but she starts to show that she doesn't have as much of a stick up her ass as some students might think, with a diverse collection of interests and hobbies, and a big, soft, playful side.

Appearance>> Evany stands at your average 5 foot 6, built solidly despite slimmer hips and shoulders, with excellent muscle definition that comes from a a hell of a lot of training, stable work, and competitive boxing, and a general lifetime of hard work. She has all kinds of scars all over her body from one thing or another, and she loves to tell the stories behind them. She is not usually seen without bruises somewhere on her body. She is very proud of her body and works very hard to take good care of it, feeding herself with health and well-being in mind and working out every day on top of work, without exception. The only exceptions to this are her alcoholism, which she has 'under control', and her having a cigar every so often.
She is a pretty girl, undoubtedly, with clear brown eyes and long brown hair, a nice smile. She usually accentuates her facial features with minimal makeup, her hair almost always in a ponytail. She dresses herself somewhere on the scale between butch and feminine, preferring boy's jeans worn low on her hips, boy's underwear, plain men's v-necks. She always looks clean and well presented, if a bit 'tough' looking. Around the barn she will only wear dark breeches, saving the khaki and fawn and what have you for the competition ring.

Evany was one of three sisters and two brothers in a big ranching family in a small town outside Austin, TX. Her father raised cattle and ran a small organic mixed farm, a job for the whole family and several ranch hands. Her father took a lot of pride in the fact that he had not succumbed to the corporate mega-farming that was ruining the lifestyle of ranchers all over the state. Still, they didn't make very much money. The combined efforts of her Puerto Rican mother and the seasonal ranch workers who came up from Mexico had her knowing Spanish before she knew English, and, being the only sister who was really interested in farm work, used to help her father in communicating with his employees.
Evany grew up riding horses, driving cattle with her dad and going for long rides in the miles of wild land that surrounded them. She got pretty good grades in school, hung around with pretty good kids - sure, they smoked a bit of weed now and then, but all in all they were friendly and well-adjusted. Evany went to school in Houston, where she got serious about training in the English discipline, as well as boxing, which she did competitively for many purses and belts around Texas and the surrounding states. It was around this time her father died, leaving the farm to her oldest brother, and three horses to her. She sold all three to buy her eventing horse, Ortega "Savage Guns", and up and left, unable to bear the sight of the family farm without her father on it.
The only place offering work when she was looking was Blue Ridge, and since kentucky suited her just fine as a homebase for competing, boarding and working.

Personality>> Salty is a sweet dog, a little jittery at times, but always friendly and energetic. She tends to get nervous around large men and large vehicles, having been a combat veteran. She requires a lot of attention and playtime; living and working around the farm with Evany seems to fill this need quite nicely. She is perfectly calm around horses and other animals and children, and likes to sleep on the bed with Evany. She has a very strong protector instinct, and is very loyal to Evany.
History>> Salty worked as a US military working dog, a scout and sentry, until she was retired from active duty along with her handler, who was injured by an IED in Afghanistan. Salty showed signs of PTSD following the incident, but she still remained cheerful. Her handler, a good friend of Evany's, saw the value of Salty spending the rest of her retirement at a stable in Kentucky, where there was lots of land for her to explore, and so he said a sad goodbye before loading her up into Evany's truck for the journey.
