Turn away 'cause I need you more
Personality>> Chelsea has been competitive since birth. She likes to have a busy mind, and she likes to have a busy body. This is a girl that's always going and rarely slows down... it makes her want to crawl out of her skin. There's always something she can be improving on, and always something she can be pushing toward. It's enough to keep her going 24/7, 365. She wants to be the best at what she does, and she wants her name to go down in the record books. It's the drive that keeps her going, even when she's starting to fall apart physically. She's always pushing herself.
Sadly, this leads to the young woman pushing things away. She can be very secrative about what she's actually thinking and feeling, and that can be off-putting to some people. She doesn't like to come off that way, but sometimes it just happens. This young woman was really never taught how to flirt because the only person she had to watch (her older brother) was always so much like her-- solitary, competitive, driven, motivated... alone. She doesn't make friends easily, and to be honest she would have no idea what to do with one if she had one. A girlfriend? She sees it as entirely out of the question. Though she's out to her immediate family, she doesn't find herself waving the pride flag as much as she'd like to.
The thing that Chelsea really does like to do is teach. Working clinics with young children on her family's ranch did her well. If she has the skills and doesn't view you as direct competition, this is a young woman that is more than willing to share what she knows. She has a gentle soul, and that comes in when she's working with horses and kids.
Likes>> Working with kids, working with "difficult" animals, road trips, camping, the outdoors, racing, going fast-fast-fast
Dislikes>>losing, being poked fun at by her brother, being looked down at as a woman in rodeo, raccoons, being cooped up for too long, being stationary for too long.
Fears>> rejection, people finding out her sexuality and being ridiculed for it.
Hopes>> to make a name for herself in the rodeo world, to one day make it to the PRCA world finals team roping with her brother
Secrets>> she has no idea how to form lasting human connections.
It’s the way I’m feeling I just can’t deny
Appearance>> Chelsea is a pretty girl, probably. She's slender, with shoulders that are thin but strong. It's where the bulk of the strength she's put there is, at least, from heading for her brother. That's also what's made her hands so calloused. She loves her callouses though. They make her... well, her. Her hands are broad and tanned and strong, thanks to the work she does. Her skin is a golden farmer's tan, one that's taken the shape of the tank tops she spends most of her summers in. Though she is lithe, Chelsea is the sort that looks more than capable of doing work. She's finely muscled, not overly, just subtly enough to be attractive.
But she is a pretty girl. Her eyes are a striking blue, and gentle if reserved. She keeps her hair on the long side, if only because she's too lazy to keep it cut back. In the winter it manages to darken to a medium brown, but in the summer the sun bleaches it blonde. Her teeth were just shy of needing braces, but aren't stained with her morning coffee... thankfully. Chelsea much prefers jeans, t-shirts, baseball caps, and her boots to any fancy clothes put in front of her. The best accessory will forever be a belt buckle that was hard won.
Markings>> scars all over her arms from various incidents, as well as her legs... she's a farm child, there's little else to be expected. Clumsy farm child, at that.
But I’ve gotta let it go
Medical History>> Weak ankles, tennis elbow, various cuts that have required stitching (fence mending can get dangerous), a few broken bones (left arm, both ankles, a collar bone, and two ribs) from falling off horses and out of trees.
Criminal History>> violating the Cinderella restriction on her license (no driver under age 18 may be out between 12:30 and 5:00am without a parent), a speeding violation or two.
Full History>> Chelsea's family is as normal a ranching family as you can get. Wyoming is a fairly popular place for such establishments, and most towns absolutely thrive on it. They're not rich by any means, but they have good hearts and good intentions. The older child, a son called Charlie, took an interest in rodeo from a young age. It was only natural that his sister, only 18 months younger, have an interest as well. They've been an inseparable pair from the start of things. They both rode sheep, and then calves, up until the time they discovered how much fun roping was. Though Charlie continued on to steers and junior bulls Chelsea was much more interested in calf roping. Though traditional for girls to rope goats instead, all the young lady wanted to do was practice like the boys did.
So she aged. Charlie fell in love with team roping a little later, and the pair soon became determined that they do something big. Chelsea remains the header, and Charlie the healer, and together they make a good pair. She's also been getting herself noticed in the barrel racing world, and they are taking notice fast. Chels is at BRRA on partial scholarship for her great promise in the field, and she's working hard to gain as much as she possibly can in her senior year. She's been home schooled up to this point, and she's a bit nervous being part of a student population... nervous, but excited.
We found love in a hopeless place
