Turn away 'cause I need you more
Personality>> Sandie is an artistic, impatient, somewhat violent teenager. She loves to create things, to think of new ideas for a novel she’s been working on, or to find that one really good picture on the ‘net and make something new out of it. Sandie hates waiting and would rather knock a few heads together or get into a friendly fight - emphasis on friendly! She doesn’t really want to actually fight, except for maybe verbally - then pore through textbooks to find the correct formula to…well, whatever the formula’s supposed to do again! She looks up to people she respects, but she’s naturally suspicious and generally makes judgements in a matter of seconds. It’s all how you introduce yourself to her, whether you ask about the book she’s reading, ask to borrow a pencil, or say hi in that well-meaning-but-condescending way that immediately sends you to the nope list. Once she makes up her mind about a person, it’s pretty hard to change her opinion, but since her opinions start out as neutral, it’s not terribly hard to get on her good side, if you introduce yourself nicely. And if she decides you’re a friend, then she’ll be your friend for life, defending you and your stuff, and your reputation from anyone who goes after you or it. She usually has a sizable number of people she labels “friendly acquaintances”, but very few whom she consider actual friends, and is a bit of a loner, surrounding herself with a small, tight-knit group of people, and is a great subscriber to the ‘if you want it done right, you have to do it yourself’ theory. She enjoys a good verbal spar with those she considers friends, and sometimes argues just to see how long she can argue for.
Likes>> Reading - Sandie is a total bookworm. She loves the smell of both new and old books, the thrill of reading a new story for the first time, and the riveting fascination that comes with a new novel to read.
Music - Sandie's also a great lover of music. Anything with a good beat and decent lyrics, she'll listen to, and while she's not a great fan of the love songs, there are a few good ones out there that she does like. She's also played the cello since fourth grade and recently started the guitar - although quite frankly she's horrible at it.
Animals - Sandie is an animal person. She's amazing with animals, from dogs to horses to birds, and she prefers their company to those of people. The exception? Spiders!
Writing - Sandie's really an author, or a poet, or whatever form of writing you might prefer. She loves writing novels and the occasional poem and song lyrics some up.
Art - Sandie loves art in most any form. While art museums bore her to tears and sculpture doesn't hold any more interest for her then a blank wall, Sandie has a fairly successful YouTube channel of about 50 videos and 200 subscribers, where she made tribute videos, taking popular-or-less-popular songs and matching the lyrics and rhythm to clips from movies or T.V shows. She also likes computer art and made a few pieces of her own, usually manips or tracing and altering other works.
Swimming - Sandie loves to swim. She was on the rec center team near her school and swam there for an hour after school every day, Monday through Friday. Her times aren't the best, but she still loves it.
Dislikes>> Silence - Whether its the lack of music and conversation, or the lack of thoughts running through her brain, Sandie detests silence. She finds it oppressing, intimidating, and maybe a little scary.
Waiting - Sandie doesn't like waiting in pretty much any form. She's impaitent, and wills the time away by complaining, silently or aloud, about the fact that she has to wait.
Her Name - Sandera. It sounds like a wonderfully fantastical land somewhere in Africa, and Sandie hates it. Anyone who calls her thought will be instantly corrected.
Blood - When it doesn't gush, it's fine. But big cuts, ones that ooze blood and leave it trailing over skin and soaking into cloth? That leaves a queasy nausea in her stomach. Scabs, shallow cuts that don't ooze blood, those are fine. But no oozing, and no bleeding!
Most Physical Activity - With the exceptions of horse riding, swimming, and a few casual field games, physical activity is not one of Sandie's strong suits or favorite pastimes. She has kept in shape solely by virtue of the swim team, which ran nine months of the year and had Sandie swimming five hours a week.
People Touching Her Instruments - Sandie is seriously overprotective of her cello and guitar, which she brought with her to Blue Ridge at her parents request. Well, the cello was her parents decision. The guitar was Sandie's.
Fears>> Spiders - Sandie is terrified of spiders, and she has been ever since she was a little kid. Daddy Long-Legs aren't so bad, but the big hairy ones - or the little thick-bodies ones - those are terrifying for her!
Being Less Than Perfect - Sandie is a perfectionist. She is scared of slipping up, making a mistake, or doing something wrong - especially when people are watching.
Hopes>> To become a famous author, to be a great horsewoman.
Secrets>> Sandie was sentenced to death by in-school suspension for a day after she attacked a boy over a game of Frisbee in P.E. Also, she has the worst balance in the world.
It’s the way I’m feeling I just can’t deny
Appearance>> Sandie is a Caucasian female with long black hair that she usually wears in a high ponytail when around campus (or down when her house) and light blue eyes. She’s a very tall young lady, standing five feet and ten inches tall without boots or heels, weighing in at a hundred and forty pounds. When she’s not smiling, she often looks a little moody and maybe a bit sad, but she’s often grinning at something - be it a long forgotten joke between her and a friend, a sarcastic or cheeky remark that she should have said, a funny line from one of her many books, or a scene she’d like to write someday. Sandie can usually be seen wearing blue jeans of varying shades and either a light long-sleeved t-shirt or a slightly heavier short-sleeved t-shirt, which are almost always black, red, or sky blue. She almost always wears riding boots (black, of course) but she does own a pair of (black) running shoes that she does wear occasionally. Usually for walking.
Markings>> A long, shiny scar on Sandie's left forearm where she lost control of her metal-slide sled on summer in the mountains. The metal slide took most of the skin off and the scar's still there. She also has a small scar on the top of her foot from a piece of glass.
But I’ve gotta let it go
Medical History>> When Sandie was three, she fell off the back of the couch - which she'd been using as a balance beam - and fractured one of the bones in her lower arm. In first grade, she caught some sort of virus that kept her in an on-and-off fever (and out of school) for two weeks, and she eventually went to the doctor's office for antibiotics. The next year, as a second grader, Sandie came down with Pneumonia, missed three days of school, and got a trip to the Emergency Room. The year before Sandie arrived at Blue Ridge - eighth grade - she fell out of a tree and bruised one of the bones in her feet, leading to a doctor's excuse note from P.E for three weeks (possibly an overreaction, but she was hardly going to complain).
Criminal History>> None.
Full History>> Sandie, born “Sandera Coradey Archer”, was born to Liadra and Jonathon Archer. She was an only child and grew up in a relatively happy household, free of drama - save for her father’s occasional fits of temper when something went wrong. On most all occasions this was limited to shouting and cursing, and he never tried to hurt Sandie or her mother, although Sandie usually gathered the family pets - at first two dogs, then later Kila - into her room and hid until her father calmed down. One time though, he stormed out of the house after breaking the front door (more accurately, the window in it) and Sandie accidentally stepped on some of the glass. She still has the scar on the top of her foot from where she tried to wipe it off, thinking it was a rock. She’s always a little scared of her dad, but she loved him anyway - although maybe not quite as much as her Aunt Nikki and Uncle David. Aunt Nikki was her father’s sister, and owned a ranch a few hours outside of town. On long weekends, holidays, and for every birthday, the family would pack up, leave the dogs with the neighbor, and drive out to the Lowells (Uncle David’s surname). Her aunt and uncle taught her how to ride, and how to care for the horses.
In fourth grade, the school held and assembly to tell students about the new music program. It was, in fact, pretty bad, but they put on a good enough show that Sandie joined the Beginning Orchestra as a cello player, an instrument she still plays five years later. A few months before starting Blue Ridge, Sandie also started playing the guitar, and although she can switch between the chords she knows easily enough, she only knows five - just enough to play the one song she wanted to learn. She didn’t want to leave the guitar behind, and her parents forced her to bring the cello, so she’s got more luggage to carry then she really wants. She’s letting nobody near her instruments!
By the time she finished eighth grade she knew she wanted to be both and author and a horsewoman. Even better - an author who wrote about her experiences with horses! Her parents signed her up - and paid - for Blue Ridge Academy, with a little chipping in on the money part form her aunt and uncle. For Sandie, this is the opportunity of a lifetime.
We found love in a hopeless place
Pet Name>> Kila
Registered Name>> N/A
Age>> 4 years (estimate)
Gender>> Female
Species>> Feline
Breed>> Domestic Shorthair
Registry>> Stray
Personality>> Kila is…well, a cat. She’s silent, except when threatened or particularly satisfied, upon which events she’ll emit either a snarl or a purr. Whenever anyone else shows up, she automatically assumes they’re a threat, and has to be reassured by Sandie that they’re friendly before she’ll sheath her claws or come out of hiding. This cat seems to enjoy the simple pleasures of life - such as the warm spot up against Sandie at night, the leftover tuna salad that Sandie didn’t want to eat and sneaked out in her napkin, or the one spot on the windowsill that offers a view and a patch of sunlight.
History>> Kila was assumed to be born either to a family that moved away, turned her out, or to a stray mother cat. After about two years of street life, during which she got into a few fights and still has a couple of scars, Kila started regularly visiting one house that left food out for her, and eventually deigned to sleep in the garage for a few nights. The family, who had a two little girls named Daisy and Rose, semi-adopted the cat. Eventually though, they had to move away and they managed to catch Kila in a cat carrier (much to Kila’s dismay and anger) and took her to an animal shelter with a no-kill policy. The shelter took Kila in and kept her there for a little over a year, during which the former stray received her vaccinations and other required things of that nature, as well as taking a tentative guess at her age. The wear on her teeth led them to place her arrival age at about three years. After spending a year at the shelter, Kila was adopted by Sandie, and proved herself to be a loyal, although perhaps somewhat distant, feline companion.
