Turn away 'cause I need you more
Personality>> Asha in a quick summary is a southern belle. Although she is an introvert and tends to keep to herself, she is a complete sweetheart. She is never rude without cause, and you may almost never hear her even raise her voice. Being more of a loner she tends to avoid relationships with others, be it friendships or romance. The only time you see Asha really break out of her shell a bit is during her classes, the only time she truly feels comfortable around others. She possesses the desire to always help those in need however, and would always offer a helping hand to anyone who seemed to need it. Val almost seems to feel the pain of others, and can not stand seeing others suffer. She is the type who would go out of her way just to make someone feel better. Even though she yearns to help people she tends to be rather awkward in social situations. She is never the type to approach someone and begin a conversation - hell half the time she can't even keep one up because she doesn't know what to say to people.
A lot of her social ineptness is due to her anxiety and depression, an internal battle she fights everyday. It's a struggle for her to see the good in life because of her pessimism. The only thing that seems to bring a smile to her lips is when she is teaching class, around her horse, or playing the guitar - her three saving graces. She constantly struggles to hide her sadness, to conceal the anxiety constantly pent up inside her. Asha isolates herself from the world because of this, fearing her own inabilities and terrified that someone will see how broken she is past the barrier she holds up to others. Truth is she is a shattered mess, destroyed from her past and convinced she can't fix herself.
When is comes to confrontations, Val tends to avoid them completely. Even the slightest yell can cause her to have a panic attack. She is petrified of violence, and will flee if she feels threatened. She is far from a fighter, and can barely use her words to solve problems.
Because of her issues she has a hard time maintaining relationships with others. Friendships are few and far in between and romance is almost completely out of the question. Asha has only been in one relationship her entire life and dreads the idea of returning to another relationship like the one she was in. However she is a loyal ally, always honest, and very caring - so she would make an excellent friend to someone willing to be patient with her problems.Likes>> Horses(obviously), music, singing, acoustic guitar, writing, tulips, home-cooked meals, carnivals, trying new things, reading, bubble baths, adrenaline, chivalry, a good laugh, mudding, animals, affection, sun, birds, dark haired men and woman, respect, being alone.Dislikes>> Unnecessary rudeness, violence, yelling, being interrupted, surprises, change, alcohol, drugs, commitment, big egos, losing, snow, materialistic people, animal cruelty, failure, love, all types of relationships, crowded places.Fears>> Being a disappointment, never finding true happiness, returning to another abusive relationship.Hopes>> To raise a family, to help everyone she can, getting over her personal problems that she keeps bottled inside.Secrets>> Was beaten and raped throughout her life, never had a stable environment, has massive anxiety and depression.
It’s the way I’m feeling I just can’t deny
Appearance>> Asha is a a natural beauty. With long wavy blonde hair, bright blue/green eyes, and tan skin to match she is definitely a looker. She is on the shorter end of the stick, standing at only 5'5". Val has never been too worried about being a stick figure either, so she definitely has some curves - however her work with horses keeps her in good shape. She is fine with her body and doesn't see the need to be perfectly skinny. It's rare to find Val in anything other than torn levi jeans, a tank top or short sleeve shirt, and her cowboy boots. She was never one to dress fancy - though she does clean up nicely. You may on occasion she her in a cute summer dress, but be assured she'll be wearing her cowboy boots with it.Markings>> She has a few scars from the numerous beatings she endured through her life.
But I’ve gotta let it go
Medical History>> Has suffered numerous broken bones and fractures. She also is medicated for anxiety and depression - though it doesn't help much.Criminal History>> None.Full History>> Val was born to a single mother who was well known as the town fluezy and drunk. She slept with men to barely get them by, often leaving the infant in care of numerous people her mother hardly knew. As an infant and well into her toddler years Asha was consistently passed around to anyone who would take her for the night. She raised herself mostly alone as she grew older, bouncing from home to home, as her mother was often off suiting other men or drunk in bed. Some off the men her mother brought home would occasionally slip into Val's room at night after her mother had passed out, physically and sexually abusing the young child. When Asha was twelve her mother met a man who seemed to be everything both of them had ever wanted. He took Val's mother off the streets, took extremely good care of both of them, and gave them everything they ever desired. Of course everything too good to be true usually is. After about a year his temper began to show. It started with unnecessary yelling, which turned into an 'accidental shoving' of Asha's mother. It didn't take long before he began to physically abuse the both of them. Being a now overbearing control freak Asha was terrified of the man. She devolved anxiety and depression, especially when around the age of fourteen her step-father began to sexually assault her.
Val slipped into an internal numbness, blocking out every emotion and keeping to herself. She was teased in school for being a loner, called names, bullied into complete and helpless sadness with no one to turn to. It was then, at sixteen, that she met Daryl. A good looking senior that all the girls wanted. They met in a music class, and his perfect voice and magic touch on the guitar made her fall for him like a ton of bricks. For one reason or another her seemed to take a liking to her too. During class he began to teach her how to play the acoustic guitar, and after weeks of flirtatious tutoring they became inseparable. Of course winning over the school hunk came at a price, and Asha had never been tortured more in school after her and Daryl became official. He protected her though, and she relied on him for quite literally everything. He was her happiness, the light at the end of a dark tunnel, Daryl was her everything.
Home life continued to get worse, beatings stronger, her step-father no longer taking the effort to even attempt to place bruises on parts of her body that she could cover. Asha's mother had long stopped caring, slipping back into alcoholism to escape her own sorrow. She never once stood up for Asha or even pretended to care, she simply let the abuse grow worse. Val attempted to try and make excuses for the marks now covering her face, arms, and legs - but she couldn't hide it from Daryl. She began leaving her home at night, running into the arms of her lover where he would soothe and comfort her, make all her pain go away. Around the age of seventeen, one fateful night, her step-father caught her sneaking back into the house after she'd been visiting Daryl. Livid he completely lost his temper, beating Asha into unconsciousness. Her drunken mother found her lifeless body hours later, taking her to the hospital where she was treated for a broken arm and leg, and numerous fractures to her ribs, skull, and jaw. She was in the hospital for about the month, Daryl visiting her everyday and vowing to take her away once she was better. He kept his promise. As soon as Asha was released the two of them ran away with the money Daryl had saved from his part time job. They started their own life together, eloped after she turned eighteen, and Val had never been happier.
Of course like all good things, it had to come to an end. A year after they eloped, when Asha was nineteen and Daryl was twenty one he began to hang with the wrong crowd. It wasn't long before the man she knew became a monster. Heroin was his new love, and he did anything at any cost to get his fix. Her love for him only seemed to push him further off the edge. It wasn't long before the drugs took over, causing him to take his anger out on the young woman. Asha didn't know what to do. For years she endured the violence, hoping one day she could get him clean and return him to the man she fell in love with. It was useless though, and as his addiction grew worse so did the beatings, the control, the obsession. He didn't want Asha yet needed her, he didn't care for her yet claimed to love her. He always promised to change, to get clean and be the man she needed him to be. It never happened. After years of walking over eggshells and tolerating the abuse she had finally had enough. At age 23, as soon as he left one night, she packed her things and fled with nowhere to go. Somehow she landed in Kentucky, hundreds of miles from all her problems and yet they still continued to haunt her. Finding a barn nearby she took solace in horses, working as a barn hand to support herself in the small town. She seemed to have a natural knack for horses and fell for them quickly, picking up everything like a pro. The owner of the barn noticed this and began training her, taking Val under her wing and teaching Asha everything she ever needed and could want to know.
At the age of twenty-seven, four years after working at the barn she found a job in a small town called Blue Ridge, where she now resides; beginning her first year as the Trail Instructor at a very prestigious Academy, with the reference of her tutor of course.
We found love in a hopeless place
