Classes had been going on for a while now and Drew loved the growing class. He had more than what had started with and that in and of itself just made him kind of proud in a way. The forty-two year old had gone over how to tack up properly and how to mount up in the first class, the second class was mostly about how to sit in the saddle and getting to know your horse and how the equine reacted to certain things.
Drew walked out of the White Oak barn, where both of his horses were boarded. Outlaw and Rebel were getting along famously and that made the man happy. Although he would have loved to bring one of his horses to class, it wouldn’t be an ideal situation. Having a mount that he would need to look after would take away the attention that he could give to the students and their needs.
The winter weather was still upon them and the class was going to be called in Benedict’s arena as it had been held in the class before. Drew bundled up before even going out to check on his own two horses so he was ready to stand in the middle of the arena and just stand there. Walking into the arena it was empty which was good, he didn’t like the idea of having to make his class share the arena with another, distractions weren’t a good idea.
Amber-Lee was quite a perfectionist when it came to her gelding Charmer Delrio, after all he was her best friend. She led him outside his stall, she gently removed his rugs trying to keep him calm. As she threw his rugs over the stable door, she turned around and crouched to get a few things from her grooming box. She laid out in a line her tools, body brush, tail brush, face brush, sponge and a hoof pick. She then slowly made him pick up his feet and cleaning them, she then moved on to brushing down his body then paying extra attention to his legs. She then brushed over his face with a soft brush and sponged his nostrils down and around his tail joint.
Amber-Lee then put the horse into his tack, slowly doing up his reigns trying not to get him too jolly. Ashe she put the rest of the tack on he was starting to be a bit excited, he then started to move around and breathe out as she tried to do up his girth. She stood there and looked him in the eye, she raised her voice and said "Stand Up Charmer!" She then tried to do the girth up again and still he refused to let her. She then turned around and said to him, I told mum you weren't worth it, and if you don't behave your gonna be returned to that shabby yard. You hear?" She tried to do the girth up, this time he breathed in so she could.
She then lead him out to the arena, her anger was gone by now. When she reached the arena she decided to keep him calmer by standing a little further away from the others. She then said to her instructor "Hello, Sir. I'm Amber-Lee Payton, I will be joining these lessons from now onward. I hope to learn something new, as always." She smiled slightly and patted her horse on his shoulder. Trying to keep him steady but he was just dancing around under himself. She faced Charmer again and said to him in a normal tone, "Charmer Delrio, you better stand up straight. Or there will be consequences, just like I taught you okay boy?" Her reply was a little snort and he suddenly relaxed and stood up as she had asked of him.
The first western class was upon the fifteen year old. Unfortunately he wasn’t at any of the previous classes and so the knowledge of tacking up was still unknown to him. Jackson walked to the White Oak barn to retrieve Fore from her stall. At this point he only knew how to put on a bridle but not the saddle. Walking to the tack room the boy got the heavy western saddle, the cinch, a saddle pad, and Fore’s bridle.
Jackson slid the bit of the bridle into the mare’s mouth, making sure it was in place he led her out of her saddle, picked up the saddle, cinch, and saddle pad and walked to the Benedict’s arena where class was going to be held. Jackson hoped that the teacher would understand his inability to put the saddle on his mount. Walking into the arena he moved to the instructor who was currently standing in the middle of the arena.
The arena contained a female student and the instructor. ”Hello sir, I’m Jackson and I’m new to this class. As you can see I’m not exactly sure of how to saddle up my horse.” Jackson gestured to the saddleless horse beside him. His face reddened as he stood there, he felt as if he should be able to do this, but he didn’t want to make any mistakes. He figured it would be better to just ask.

Western Riding was a class he had next and was pretty pumped up about even though his face seemed to lack the actual emotions to show it. He headed out to Red Willow barn as that was where they had kept his beauty, Stella. Upon entering the barn he quickly went to the tack rooming gathering up the tack needed for the class such as the bridle, western saddle, lead rope, riding helmet, and the saddle pad he then headed over to the stall setting it up near Stella. The mare of course greeted him as he settled the stuff down before going off to get some grooming supplies. Entering the stall he did a quick groom over of Stella feeling it would be much more comfortable for her. Once finished he then began to tack her up already knowing the basics.
For the most part the class was a refresh for him on Western Riding. He decide on the class because he wanted to relearn some of the basics he had been taught and hopefully perfect them along with gaining more knowledge too. Placing the saddle pad and saddle on, Stella had to be the most easiest part, but today she didn't want the bridle on. "Come on Stella, you know the rules." Dave spoke up and after a few more tries of trying to get the bridle on he finally managed. After that he decide to place on his helmet now not wanting to forget to do it later. Once finished with everything hr grabbed the grooming supplies and hooked Stella up to the lead rope so they could head off. He made sure to drop off the grooming supplies before going towards the Western Riding class.
Upon arriving he took note of everyone there and settled to being in the background. Passing the teacher he gave a short nod of his head before taking a place in the back. Stella, being the mare she was quietly shook her coat as if flies were collecting on her making Dave give a quite laugh before patting her on the neck.
