The Personality
Personality:
Intelligence is a double edged sword. Although Mayflower is fast to understand what is being asked of her and quick to pick up new skills, her ability to quickly comprehend a situation leads to her often becoming bored with it. Mayflower needs to be constantly engaged, and her short attention span and needs to be watched lest she decide that the grass is far more interesting on the other side of the fence and decide to go and look around there. She thrives best with a skilled rider who works to keep her interested in what is going on, and to keep her attention on track.
Caution Around:
Plastic bags, camera flashes, cell phone ringtones.
The History
Basic History:
Originally born in Australia, Mayflower was going to become a racehorse and her above average pedigree lead to her being purchased by an American and sent overseas. Although her first few months as a racehorse were met with moderate success, Mayflower quickly became bored and developed the nasty habit of breaking out of the starting gate, much to her owner's aggravation. After she also started trying to jump fences in the paddock, it became apparent that Mayflower did not have the temperament for racing, and she was quickly and quietly sold on. Passing through the hands of several owners, during this time Mayflower was retrained for jumping and, after a rather unsuccessful stint at a riding school, eventually found her way into the arms of the Lim family.
