Secrets>> Fiachra grew up in the communes of Children of God and was subjected to and forced to partake in all kinds of abuse. It doesn’t seem like much of a secret, but being a second generation Child, he knows things that could be used against him by the Family if they choose to come and find him.
One of the daughters of his employer, Enika, slipped into his bed one night and in the morning she told him that unless he did everything she wanted, she would tell her father that he raped her.
It’s the way I’m feeling I just can’t deny
Appearance>> With brown hair and green eyes, he is often said to look brooding when he is lost in thought and thinks no one is near, but he will laugh it off if mentioned.
Standing at just under six feet, he is lean and well-muscled from spending a life time doing manual labour, and playing the guitar helped tone his arms.
His clothing style slips from one to another without following any kind of trend, though he loves wearing jeans and shirts – which he wasn’t allowed to wear in the communes.
Markings>> His upper thighs and stomach are littered with scars from self- harm during his late teens. His backside is scarred from being beaten to the point that he bled.
But I’ve gotta let it go
Medical History>> Broken arm at 20 when he fell off a horse (Family members aren’t allowed to be treated by systemites unless they are on the verge of dying)
Criminal History>> Nope
Full History>> Fiachra was born Freedom Isiah to a well paired couple in one of the Children of God communes in Greece, he was barely six months old when he was handed over to foster parents as his birth parents were sent on missionary work.
He grew up feeling like and outsider. Sure, his foster parents- who insisted that he called them mum and dad – cared for him, but they never showed him the same love that they gave to their birth children, they were slow in praising what he did right and were quick in punishing when he did wrong. And the worst thing, was that “wrong” was a matter of opinion in the communes, as whatever was right or wrong, was decided by Grandpa Mo, and if the person doing the reprimanding hadn’t herd the last Mo Letter, then what the boy was doing might have been the new “right”-thing, but the adult might still think it was “wrong”.
One of the biggest secrets that the Family held, was their Law of Love. Love was shared freely in all of the communes and the people were paired up for “dates” no matter the age difference between either gender and, since it was such a common fact of life in the Family, no one questioned it, not out loud anyway
They never remained in one place for long, as the communes packed up and shifted as soon as the local law began to sniff around too much, and often it was the law that told them to move. Fiachra lived in Greece, France, England, Japan – he thoroughly enjoyed his time at the Heavenly School in Japan and wished that he could have remained there, as his foster parents handed him off to the Shepherds at a commune in France when he was five. He loved the music that was created at the School, which began his love of music. Leaving Japan, he went to Uganda, then as a teenager, of thirteen, was sent to a teen camp in the Philippines. He hated being at the teen camp. It was a farm and was run by the children. More often than not he found himself in the Detention group and spent his days painting the barn one colour and then another just because it was useless work.
It was during these useless tasks that this young man began to question his faith. They had been preparing for the Endtime, the return of Jesus, since the day he was born. However, the prophesied Endtime date had been and gone by now. The world hadn’t ended, there had been no antichrist and Jesus hadn’t returned to save them all. This is also when he started taking a blade to his skin to relieve the emotions he was hiding from the world around him.
A year later, he was sent from the Philippines camp to Uganda. This had to be the worst if it. The House the lived in was like a prison camp, they were only allowed outside for exercise, which was marching around the compound, and the windows were all barred off and the shutters nailed closed so they were literally hidden from the world. After two years here, he returned to Japan.
Back at the Heavenly School, the boy flourished, he once again found his love for music and began to through all of his time and passion into helping out with the musical side of things. He learned how to play the guitar, and messed around with things until he managed to write a couple of songs. Creativity was often discouraged in the Family, as it was often the work of the Devil, however Fiachra was at time encouraged for his work, and other times beaten for work that wasn’t working for the best of God’s Will.
At the age of seventeen, the boy once again began to question his place in the world, and weeks later ran away from the School. Keeping a low profile, he begged around for work and once he had raised enough money, he took the first flight out of Japan. He then found a new name, travelled around the world, trying to discover himself. Finding work wherever he could and saving his money.
He finally found himself in Ohio, America, and working as a barn hand at a Standardbred stud. He hadn’t had any prior experience with horses, so his duties mainly consisted of mucking the stalls after the horses were taken outside and keeping the place clean. His employer was impressed with the boy’s work ethics and offered to teach him how to ride, as they also had a number of riding horses as his children all competed. Fiachra’s first ride on a horse ended with him falling off and breaking his arm. Because of how he had grown up, he felt that this had happened because he had left the Family and God was displeased with him, he was also terrified about having to go to hospital.
While his arm was healing, Fiachra managed to continue with some of his jobs, but he needed to find something else to do, so his employer’s wife suggested that he take his passion for music one step further and attend the local university and get a degree in music. After looking through what the university offered, Fiachra decided to do a study in business management.
After he had finished his degrees, Fiachra knew it was time to move on. He no longer wanted to be the plaything of one of the couple’s daughters, and he couldn’t speak out against her so decided to leave on good terms and after working out his notice, packed up and left.
We found love in a hopeless place
