Donalbain's most striking personality trait is the fact that he can't stand incorrectness, both in himself and in others. With grammar mistakes especially, he will not hesitate to correct anyone, no matter what that person may have been doing or who they may have been speaking to.
Before he tries anything, he will read up on whatever it is he may be doing or learning. For example, he refused to even go near a barn until he had mastered the jargon and knew everything there was to know about riding, except for what is learned only through experience. Fortunately, this kind of research is enjoyable for Donalbain, and his sharp memory lets him retain the information.
He does his best to behave gallantly, though he often goes overboard with it. Being the kind of social gentry typical of his family just doesn't come naturally. Sure, he'll open doors, pull out chairs, pick up dropped items and lend a helping hand, but it often comes just a beat too late, like it was an afterthought. Which, usually, it is. He is notorious for making odd compliments to his female peers, all of whom get called by a noble title. Donalbain is by no means a flirt, he just feels that such titles make a girl feel treasured, which is what knights are supposed to do. However, when given a choice, Donalbain will always choose the pedantic option; it's more drilled into his head.
The one thing that he will never do is go back on his word. Breaking a promise, after all, is un-chivalrous. Even if the words 'I promise' are not used, Donalbain will do what he says he will do. For this reason, much of these informal promises are either very specific or very vague.
Unbeknownst to him, Donalbain's true personality is a little more likable, a lot less sociable, and much more relaxed than he thinks.

Appearance>>
Donalbain is a lanky lad, standing at 5'8'' already and projected to reach 6' by the time he is an adult. His dark brown hair is usually kept scruffy, and of medium to short length. His brown eyes can appear emotionless. Not cold, necessarily, but perhaps glazed over or robotic. Unless, of course, you can catch him at a time when he is doing something he truly enjoys, rather than desperately acting the front he feels he has to maintain. Coming from a wealthier family, Donalbain's clothing style can be described as preppy. A typical outfit consists of a polo shirt or button-down, chinos or jeans, and sneakers (not the athletic kind).
Markings>> Nothing too striking
But I’ve gotta let it go
Medical History>> A sprained wrist once
Criminal History>> You won't find any records
Full History>>
"The Thorchester family is well known in the upper circles of the Pacific Northwest. They are people of class, money, and nobility." The first time Donalbain heard that was when he lay in his mother's arm as a newborn. Since then, every time he makes a mistake or does something that isn't quite right, the phrase comes again. Donalbain has heard it many, many times. His older brother and two older sisters took to their parents' world like a fish to water. It was a family tradition for each child to learn the code of chivalry that medieval knights were supposed to have followed. Along with the knight impersonation, all Thorchesters were at least good riders, some enjoying it more than others but all willing to go on a Sunday afternoon foxhunt. Well, all Thorchesters except for one.
Donalbain struggled to fit the bill. Even from day one, he was the first child in three generations to be born prematurely. This early birth took the blame for everything that was 'wrong' with Donalbain. He had a much slighter frame than the males of the family. He wasn't quick to absorb and imitate the actions or words of everyone else. He preferred staying in his room, alone, while his siblings eagerly prepared for a winter ball. It became the common perception that Donalbain would grow into the roles typical of the family, he was just a late bloomer. But Donalbain has different ideas.
His sharp mind and preference to be alone has led to hours and hours puzzling out how computers work. He has turned into quite the skilled hacker, though he makes sure what he does is not illegal. He enjoys following people's activity on the internet, and occasionally modifying a small detail or two as an internet prank. Yet he is hesitant to become the outspoken black sheep of his family. He can tell that his family loves him, but they would love him more if he could figure out how to be like them. It's such an ingrained style of living for them that they can't imagine why anyone would act any different.
After sifting through his parents' emails one day, Donalbain discovered that there had been talk of sending him to boarding school. He couldn't tell if they were just exploring all options or were serious about sending him away. The more he thought about it the more he decided that it could work out in his favor. He found Blue Ridge, far enough from his home to be mostly out of reach. There was a strong equestrian program, which Donalbain knew would be a plus, given his rudimentry riding skills. However, the price tag would be a cautionary point. Yes, the Thorchesters were rich, but they didn't spend money just to spend money. There were plenty of less costly boarding schools of equal caliber, but none of the ones Donalbain's parents were considering were far away enough for him.
Putting his skills to the test, Donalbain carefully and painstakingly forged a scholarship offer and envelope that appeared to have been mailed from Kentucky. His parents took the bait and brought up the subject to him, where he played innocent, of course. Plans were finalized and plane tickets bought. Donalbain pulled money from multiple bank accounts to make up the scholarship. A few dollars here, a few hundred there, any amount that wouldn't be missed, judging on whose account he was hacking. The final test lay in his ability to keep his mouth shut once he got to Kentucky.
We found love in a hopeless place
Pet Name>> Argentum (Tum) // Aurum (Rum)
Age>> 1 year // 1 year
Gender>> Female // Male
Species>> Rodent
Breed>> Silver Satin Fancy // Recessive Yellow Fancy
Personality>> Both mice are friendly and happy animals, having been handled consistently from an early age. They enjoy spending time with Donalbain, though they are content to spend most of the day in their large cages. Rum, however, is much happier when given time in his rolling ball daily. Tum is the faster learner of the two, and has learned how to sit quiety in Donalbain's breast pocket of his shirt, should he choose to take her out for a little bit.
History>> Donalbain has had mice for as long as he could remember. Of course, he didn't always hold full responsibility, but something about the little rodents fascinates him. Tum and Rum are his second pair of mice that he took care of on his own, given to him by his older sister, who also raises mice.
