Shine a light through an open door
Full Name>>Cassian Francisco De Fiore

Age>> June 30th; 15
Staff or Student>> Student; Student Barn Hand.
House>> Red Ribbon
Gender>> Male
Sexuality>> Bisexual
Face Claim>> Sam Way
Turn away 'cause I need you more
Personality>> Cassian could easily fall under the "Strong and Silent" category, if you really wanted to slap a label on him.
It’s not uncommon for people who meet him for the first time to take in his appearance, then sum up his taciturn and solitariness as being mean, or cold. However this simply isn't the case. He's just painfully shy when it comes to dealing with social situations and the chances of getting him to talk to someone who didn't approach him first are slim to none. He’s the sort of kid who has to be physically drug to a party, only to then stand in a corner alone all night nursing a glass of punch while silently watching others mingle.
Cassian’s a little distrusting of strangers and he's rough around the edges for sure, but once you get to know him, find out how his gears turn, and maybe even wiggle your way under that anti-social shell he wears it's not hard to see how very warm, chivalrous, polite, and protective he can be. He’s also the kind person you can always rely on being the first to volunteer if you ever need any help. He enjoys keeping busy, so that usually involves things like running errands for staff, taking on extra chores, joining in on projects, and at times even working himself ragged if you let him. Because he just won’t stop until he feels satisfied that things are done and done right.
A word of caution: Cass may be non-confrontational by nature; preferring to keep a level head and walk away, and it takes a great deal of pushing to bring his temper up to a boil, but even though it's rarely ever seen it is still there, simmering deep down under the surface. Trust me when I say you don't want to be the one that causes it to bubble over.
Likes>> Cooking: Cass loves to cook almost as much as he loves to eat, especially with family. (And boy can he eat! Enough to rival a race horse.)
Warm Colors: His preferred pallet includes rich reds, varying browns, and deep oranges.
Long Walks on the Beach: No, really! He finds slow walks and leisurely rides on the sand to be relaxing.
Gardening: He's got a nice green thumb and enjoys getting his hands dirty. Something about growing a plant up from a seedling gives him a great sense of gratification.
Working with Stallions: Not something he'll get to do much, if at all while in school, but Cassian's always liked the challenge of working with a hot headed horse.
People Watching: Cass may not be a social butterfly by any extent of the term, but he does keep his eyes open and even though you don't know him, chances are he knows you, and some of your habits.
Dislikes>> Cats: Well... It's not really a matter of not liking cats... It's more that he's allergic.
Parties and Large Social Gatherings: Loudness, crowds, tons of strangers, all in all not his cup of tea.
Petty Drama: So and so supposedly stole your boyfriend? John Doe made you look like a fool in the arena? Too bad... Cass wants no part of it.
Cold Weather: He just doesn't handle the cold well. He'd take the blazing sun over snow any day.
Bullying and Bullies: If making someone else's life miserable is your idea of fun, it would probably be in your best interest not to approach Cassian.
Fears>> His greatest fear is taking after his father; foul tempered, abusive and prone to heavy drinking. Claustrophobia is close but second. He tends to get a bit panicked when trapped within a crowd.
Hopes>> Cassian's dreamed of attending the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art for years now, and after graduating there he has every intention of returning home to step up and help take over his family's ranch. Though the future is never set in stone.
Secrets>> His grandfather and a family friend and employee covered up the fact that Cassian assaulted another boy.
It’s the way I’m feeling I just can’t deny
Appearance>> Already standing in at 5’10’’ Cassy’s always been tall for his age, and he’s only bound to get bigger as he grows older. On top of his height he’s got a sturdy and muscular build earned from good old fashioned hard manual labor and hardy genetics. He’s definitely not a bodybuilder, but is well equipped with a set of broad shoulders, toned legs, and nicely a defined torso and arms. His size is probably why people tend to find him to be imposing nearly to the point of intimidation. When you pair this up with his olive complexion, tousled thick dark brunet hair, strong features like a square jaw and cognac brown eyes it’s no wonder that people assume he’s in his late teens, and at times even in his early twenties. Although in all actuality, Cass is still just a baby (at least as far as his mother and grandmother are concerned).
Markings>> No piercings or tattoos, but he does have rather marred hands after all the little nicks, burns and scrapes he's accumulated over the years from working with the horses and helping his grandmother in the kitchen.
But I’ve gotta let it go
Medical History>> Cassian's always been in good health. The only issues he's ever had are complications after a spooked stud reared and kicked him at the age of twelve, resulting in a nasty fractured left humerus and a damaged rotator cuff. The fracture healed normally, but the cuff's never been right since and still gives him aches and pains on bad days. Even more so when he over works it. Then there's the little tidbit about his feline allergy. If cat dander gets anywhere near his face his sinuses go nuts and his eyes start to water uncontrollably and swell... Not a pretty sight.
Criminal History>> Not a single thing.
Full History>> Hailing from Spain Cassian was born in the seaside city of Barcelona, conceived out of wedlock, much to the surprise of his young and unprepared parents. His mother, Antonia: She took to motherhood like a natural without a single moment of doubt or hesitation. A new but loving and hard working parent through and through. However his father, David… Well, he was an entirely different story. You see being a parent didn't settle well with him. He wasn't ready for that level of responsibility, and if you've ever met him you’d easily see that he never will be. It made him feel trapped and as a result he developed a nasty relationship with alcohol. David has a terrible temper under regular circumstances and tends to fly off the handle at the drop of a hat, and when drunk he’s down right mean. Sadly though Antonia tried her best to keep her little family together for Cassian’s sake, she decided she’d had enough after a particularly ugly argument over David losing yet another job left her with a split lip and a black eye. She couldn't take any more of her partner’s inebriated fits, and in the end her leaving him turned out to be for the better.
Cass was almost four when he and his mother packed up their personal belongings and moved away to live in the country on a small but well known and respected ranch belonging to his grandparents and uncle. The family has been proud owners of the land for the past six generations, utilizing it and its resources for the breeding, training, and general preservation of the Andalusian breed. Being raised there under the care and schooling of his close-knit family is probably the best choice that his mother could have possibly made. It’s given him a good life, formed Cassian into a decent young man, and having been involved in some way with almost all the business decisions since about the time that he was ten was what started Cass off in equestrianism at an early age. It sparked his love and dedication for horsemanship, as well as his dreams of one day taking over the ranch as his own and continuing the tradition.
Cassian coming to the states to finish his basic education was a sort of a spur of the moment thing that came up roughly four months ago. It had always been something he and his grandfather had talked about from time to time, one of those “What if” scenarios. It wasn’t until Cass lost his temper one evening thanks to the farrier's son pushing the wrong buttons that the whole thing was set in motion. Long story short; the farrier’s son, Marco, and Cassian had never really gotten along. Marco’s rather full of himself, and his parents are firm believers that their boy can do no wrong and so he’s grown up to be a bit of a problem child. He’s been a constant thorn in Cassy’s side for years. Teasing, getting him into trouble, treating the ranch hands with disrespect and so on… Despite all this Cass had always turned the other cheek and chosen to be the better person by avoiding conflict and not giving Marco the attention he seeks… That was until Marco crossed a serious line by terrorizing a heavily pregnant broodmare while his father was at the ranch on an emergency call for one of the studs. It’s nothing more than a blur when Cass looks back at the situation. All he really remembers was seeing red, and before he knew what was happening one of the ranch hands named Linus was pulling him off a battered and bloodied Marco who lay on the stable floor screeching like a banshee.
Cass was then instructed to go inside, clean up, and not to come back out. While he did his grandfather drove Marco and his father to the hospital where the boy stayed for two weeks. That’s the last anyone’s ever spoken of the incident… As far as Cass knows Linus is the only other person who knows the truth about the fight and since then the only time he’s seen Marco has been during church services. He’s not sure what exactly happened, but a few days later Linus (who had been working on the ranch since he was a young man and helped to teach Cass how to ride) quit and disappeared without a word of warning or a stated reason as to why. Shortly after the mess attending BRRA was no longer an option, and in record time the arrangements were made and Cass was shipped off on a plane to the U.S. He’s still confused and a little in shock over everything as well as unsure of how to deal with being so far away from home, and worried that he might lose his head and go off on someone like that again.
We found love in a hopeless place
