With the decision to use Tucker for the clinic Drew had groomed him and was in the process of retrieving the horse’s tack. It had been awhile since he had in the barrel racing scene, but his memory served him and so he felt confident about today. Once the gelding’s saddle was on and in place, the man got the sport medicine boots and bell boots on the horse.
With that being easy enough he put the bridle on and patted the gelding on the neck and took a deep breath. ”Ready buddy?” Drew asked rhetorically as he grabbed the reins and led the Paint horse to the barrel racing arena. The good thing about working at prestigious is that certain disciplines had their own arena or field, which held all things that were needed for the specific certain.
The barrels already being Drew mounted up. He had time until the students who signed up for this clinic showed up. The man decided to begin warming his horse up just in case Tucker was needed to demonstrate something. Drew walked the gelding around the barrels to get him reacquainted with them. He hadn’t been away that long but reintroducing was always the way to go for Tucker. Seeing the students come in he told them, "Go ahead and warm up your horses."
Caroline hurried to the White Oak barn to get Lucy ready for their clinic. ”Hi Lucy Lou.” The sixteen year old scratched the mare’s forelock and went to the tack room to gather the groom kit. Soon enough Caroline returned and got the mare to a set of cross ties and got to work. The redhead started with grooming the mare as she normally would.
She bent down to pick out the Thoroughbred’s hooves and the chestnut not liking this pinned her ears to her skill and looked back at Caroline. ”Stop, you act like I’m hurting you.” Once that was done all the grooming was finished and she returned the kit to tack room and got out the mare’s tack. Walking back out Lucy sniffing around to see if she could reach the treats, which she couldn’t but why wouldn’t she try. ”Here you big baby.” Caroline fed her a treat and tacked the mare up.
Once her boots were in place Caroline led the mare to the barrel racing arena to see Mr. Rhodes. ”Hi Mr. Rhodes.” Mounting up she started warming up Lucy. It had been a few months since Caroline had run Lucy in barrels and so she just walked her around the barrels almost exactly like Mr. Rhodes.
Natalia finished grooming the mare and put the brush back in the grooming box. She went out of the mare's stall and latched the door. She picked up the grooming box and walked to the tack room. She set it down by her tack and grabbed her helmet and the brown western saddle and bridle along with split boots. Walking back to the mare's stall she started tacking up the mare. She adjusted the white western practice pad before setting the saddle down on the pad. Once the girth was tight Natalia put the bridle on the mare. She adjusted the one piece and put the mare's forelock to the side tucking it into the side of the bridle. Natalia put her helmet on before putting the splint boots on the mare. Once the split boots were secure she opened up the stall and led the mare out of the stall. She latched the door behind her and started the walk to the barrel arena.
It was only a couple of minutes to get from the barn to the barrel racing arena. It seemed that only one other student was there so far. She led the buckskin mare into the arena and shut and locked the gate behind her. Natalia tightened the girth on the mare before mounting up. Adjusting the split reins she started to warm Karmen up. She had never done barrels before but was interested in them. She figured that no matter the discipline every discipline could teach someone something. Natalia had looked up the barrel pattern before the class so she knew the pattern. She decided to walk the pattern to get Karmen used to the barrels.
