Daniel walked to his classroom with a cup of coffee in one hand and a freshly printed stack of packets in the other. He let out a soft sigh as he entered the room and he surveyed it quickly. The rolling chairs that he put in at the beginning of the year were now gone and replaced with the standard classroom chairs. On the middle two rows there was a sign on the first desk of the two rows, one sign closest to the door saying Team 1 and the other Team 2. Dan set his coffee on his desk and placed a packet on each of the desks down the two rows.
The man walked over to the chalk board, grabbing a red stick of chalk and wrote on the board:
Team 1: Cara Luka Samantha Keri Savannah Marcello
Once he finished with team one he grabbed a yellow piece of chalk and wrote:
Team 2: Sara Belle Mike Cannon Henri Riker
Dan smiled now that he had his teams set and next he wrote in white Sit in your team rows. He sighed once more now that everything was pretty much in place. Dan glanced around the room making sure he had everything ready. He noticed that the desks were lacking something and placed a graphing calculator on each on the students desks. "Well, nothing left to do now but wait I suppose." The blonde cracked his neck as he walked to his desk and began going over his lesson plans quickly, already thinking about his less fun plans for next week.

Cara tightened her hands around her satchel as she allowed herself to be swept along with the tide of students hurrying to their next class. Breaking out of the tide, she walked up to the door of the calculus class and then walked through the doorway. If it were any other classroom, she would have found her seat first and then read the board, but Mr Mattock was known for throwing curveballs at his students and she had learned that checking the board was the first thing she needed to do in this class.
She sighed when she read that they would be working in teams, but rather than fight it - as that wasn't her style, she went and sat at the first table of group one and looked at the packet and calculator that was on the desk. Cara had a thing with germs and didn't like touching anything that might have been used by numerous people before her. She swallowed as she raised her hand, even though she was the only person in the room. "Excuse me, Mr Mattock?" Her soft voice was slightly hesitant. "Would it be alright if I used my own graphic calculator?" She looked at the rest of the names of the people in her group, she shared at least one other class with each of those people, but Samantha and Keri were really the only people she would say that she knew.
Luka entered the calculus classroom, hurrying into the door that he didn't block the rest of the students still moving around to get to their classes. He glanced around the classroom, nodding at the teacher and Cara, whom he knew from various classes and the Equestrian team, before he started reading the board. Finding his name rather quickly, the second one on the list, Luka skipped to the white words on the board, then turned to the row that was for 'Team 1'.
He took a seat in the middle of the row, leaving a space between himself and Cara, and hit the 'on' button on the calculator. As the display flashed to life, Luka ran through a few of the things he did with his own calculator, making sure he understood the various sequences, and hoping that if there was anything new, Mr. Mattock would make sure how to tell them to get where they wanted to be. He turned the calculator off again and slid the cover back over it, placing it on the edge of his desk before he pulled out his graph notebook and his pen.
A good amount of the student body was still in the hallways. Crowds were the number one thing that could irritate Belle at any time of the day, no matter what mood she was in. The morning routine had gone as it did every other day. Next Calculus, a class that she actually enjoyed. Math, aside from equine courses, was her favorite. A smile popped out of nowhere as the eighteen year old entered the room. Not too many kids took Calculus which was one of the reasons Belle liked it.
Slowing her movements as she read the board, catching her name written in yellow indicating Team 2 was for her. Looking at Mr. Mattock with a Why teams? look. Although she didn't mind the people in her group at all she got a lot more work done independently. Of course it wouldn't kill her; she would just have to deal with it. Taking her seat, it looked as if she was the first one in her group to arrive. Taking the third seat back, it was towards the middle. It was just a thing, not the back of the room and not the front either, the middle was perfectly fine.
Finally setting her backpack done on the floor beside her desk the blond looked down at the calculator and packet, not even thinking about flipping through it she just sat there and waited for the next set of instructions. Again Belle read over the other five names in her group, Sara, Mike, Cannon, Henri, and Riker. The group was evenly put together, in the sense that there were three girls and three boys. Taking a deep breathe she readied herself for the class.
A boom set the brunette off to wince as another student painfully clashed head on into her. That certainly was a great day to start off her walk to Calculus. The class itself was somewhat difficult and she wanted to be in tip top shape to learn whatever she needed to learn. Besides it was the first class back from winter break and she figured she might as well start off the semester with a good note. Crashing into someone certainly wasn’t the best thing to do. After apologizing profusely, Henri set off again, this time into the math hallway and straight into her already somewhat empty classroom.
A few students had arrived before her, but she didn’t feel too late so she simply looked at the board. There, her name was placed under ‘Team 2”. Henri shrugged and went to go find her seat in that row. So far, it really only looked like there was one other girl in it at the moment. She smiled softly up at her, offering a small greeting before sitting gracefully down and pulling out her calculator. It was a bulky thing and she honestly hated carrying it around, but did it anyway. Henri preferred to be prepared.
Math. Just the sound of it caused shivers to spark all over his body. He hated math. Though, unfortunately, it was one of the main things in the world and he really couldn’t live without it. Cello sighed slightly, dragging his sneakers against the floor wishing for some kind of amazing friction to be his excuse for not being able to make it into the classroom. Of course, miracles did not happen and the brunette found himself in the math hallway sooner than he would’ve liked. Sighing again, Cello took in a gulp of air before entering and offered everyone a soft smile.
It was rather small for his usual happiness and Cello wasn’t feeling up to making everyone laugh at the moment. He knew he’d better pay full attention or he’d never get any of it. Calculus was something new for him as it was his first year taking it. He was a bit surprised he’d managed to get through all his past math classes without failing due to his lack of understanding things sometimes. A near internal groan ripped through his stomach as he looked up at the board. Teams?
Did that mean they’d have to work together on something? Cello shut his eyes tight for a moment. Perhaps allowing everyone to see how stupid he was wasn’t the greatest idea. Still, he really had no choice. Hopefully, the teacher would be a bit easier on them today due to the fact it was the first class back from winter break. Putting on a somewhat confident smile once more, Cello moved his way to sit next to a blonde boy in his team row. “Hola.” he offered with a grin.
Savannah was stil getting used to all these different classes and the way they worked, considering that at her old school, they'd all been together since kindergarten, so it was very clear where everyone sat and what their roles were in the social aspect. Here, however, was a whole different story. She had to assert herself into this pool of already well known people, and fight her way to the top of the food chain. She wasn't scared, merely dreading all the effort she would have to put forth just for a safe spot in the upcoming two years. She sighed when she thought of all this, and simply readjusted the shoulder strap of her large brown leather purse which carried her books for the day. Calculus, how lovely. At least she wasn't afraid to be both popular and smart.
Her heels clicked as she strutted down the hallway and down to the classroom which her schedule told her to be in at this time. Seeing a hulking man sitting at the desk in the front of the room, she raised an eyebrow slightly and then moved her eyes to the board, having seen her name flashing in front of her eyes without even realizing that it was there. Team 1. She moved over to the row which was labeled accordingly for them and took a seat behind one of the two boys, crossing her legs as she scanned the rest of the list to see who else would be there. Was that... She wondered who "Samantha" was, and if maybe she was the girl whom Savannah had had so much fun messing with in the jumping ring earlier in the year. Let the games begin... She thought to herself with a smirk.
In the mean time, they were still waiting for two girls in their group, and most of the other group, so she decided to make friends with her teammates. She leaned forward on her elbows as she looked over the packet and then tapped lightly on the shoulder of the brown haired stranger who was seated in front of her. "I seem to have forgotten my pencil... Any chance you have one that I could borrow today?" She asked him with a raised eyebrow and a conniving yet friendly smile. He was cute in a sort of... adorable way. Maybe this class would be more than just her showing off her book smarts.
Keri walked through the crowded hallway trying her best not to be stopped by anyone whom she might have known. They all seemed to say the same thing. 'How's you arm?', 'Feeling any better?', 'Did you tell coach yet?', 'What did your Aunt say?', and many more unneeded things. It wasn't like any of them cared, they just wanted a reason to talk to the girl with an eating disorder. Yes. You heard correctly. She finally admitted that she had an eating disorder. Happy? Fabulous.
She walked with a purpose down the hallway, almost walking sideways to avoid anyone bumping into her arm. The doctors had said that if she kept from moving it too much, the sling might stay off once her cast came off for her arm. She hadn't moved her arm since hearing those words, and hoped with all her might that they would both be gone soon.
As she made her way into the classroom, she saw that there were two rows of students, seemingly placed there, since it was Team 1 and Team 2. She glanced up at the board and saw that she was to be in Team 1 with her two teammates. That was a relief and a pain at the same time. She walked herself over to the first row and sat down behind Cara, where it seemed no one else was too keen to sit. She smiled to her teammate as she sat down and then looked to the packet which was sitting on her desk, as well as a graphing calculator. This shouldn't be too hard... right? She dropped her bag on the ground and found that it weighed a little more than expected, seeing as it crashed down with a loud noise and her books spilled out everywhere. She sighed deeply, already exhausted with the day, and got out of her chair, knelt down on the ground, and started to push the books back into the demon bag with only her left hand.
Cannon pulled his back pack up a bit higher onto his back after being rammed into by the sea of people which currently occupied the hallway. He stood a good bit above most of the other students, and he was thankful, for he could see where he was going and not just rely on the bodies in front of him for direction. He spotted his destination and within another minute, he was stepping through the classroom door. Two teams. He was in Team 2 with a bunch of people he'd never met before. He recognized one of the names, however, and wondered if it might be the same guy who Diamond had been hanging out with earlier on in the year. It caught his attention, but he didn't think about it any further as he walked past the first row and over to his team.
He sat down in a the first seat, placing his back pack on the ground and looking through the packet which was placed on each of their desks. So team work was going to be a big thing today... Great. It wasn't that he hated working with other people, or that he didn't get along with his peers, both were false. What bothered him was that he was always so focused on his work during the day that he might not be able to cooperate with the teammates around him. Maybe they'd just have to split up the work and then he would be fine to work by himself. He glanced to the side to see the members of the opposite team almost all there. He didn't recognize many of those students either, but then again, he didn't really try to make note of any faces he spoke to or passed by in the hallways. He glanced back at his teammates, two girls, and smiled to them before looking back at their teacher as they all waited for the remaining students to arrive.
