JESSAMINE MEGAN SMITH
<<Played by Stern>>
Full Name>> Jessamine Megan Smith
Nicknames>> Jessa
Age>> 10/8/2001 ; 14
Staff or Student>> Student
House>> Red Ribbon
Gender>> Female
Sexuality>> Heterosexual
Face Claim>> Grace Victoria Cox
Personality>>
Growing up in a world where most everyone is friendly and neighborly, Jessamine really doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She's an extremely sweet girl, although she also tends to be just a bit naïve about most situations. She's very friendly and opens up to new people quickly, although that can sometimes flip to a negative, as she has a habit of over-sharing and just not. shutting. up. She takes being interrupted in stride, though!
Really, all that Jessa wants to do is to help out. She'd be willing to give her all to help another person, and apologize if she can't, even if it isn't really her fault! Despite her appearing sheltered and soft, Jessamine isn't afraid to put in hard work into her own things too, whether that be mucking out the stall or doing her homework. When she isn't riding, she can be found reading and writing, because she loves the fictional worlds that she can slip into.

Fears>>
That another car crash could take her parents from her
Injuring herself to the point of no longer being able to ride
Hopes>>
To be a farrier like her dad.
To sort out exactly what she thinks about Mr. and Mrs. Mars. They are technically her parents, but she feels nothing for them.
Secrets>>
She knows that Mr. Mars paid for her to be accepted to Blue Ridge
Appearance>> Jessa has a very youthful face, tricking even those who should know better into thinking she is younger than her age sometimes. Her height, however, makes up for that idea, as she already stands at 5'5", weighing in at about 120 lbs. A round face and pale skin, which luckily remains clear for the time being, doesn't require too much attention. Grey eyes peer out of that face, which is framed by brown hair, which tends to be stick-straight and boring, unless someone can be found to curl it for Jessa (because she has no interest, even if she did know how to). Her general style tends to be rough, whichever shirt she grabbed that morning in combination with a pair of jeans and boots, what more does she really need? Her shirts tend to come from places she's visited or events that she's been to, or hand-me-downs from friends who no longer fit their own. Her hair tends to be grabbed back into a ponytail every day, unless she feels fancy, in which case it's left down. Round, youthful face.

Criminal History>> Reprimanded by the sheriff, but no record.
Full History>> John and Jody Smith were just pleased to get out of the hospital with their healthy little girl, Jessamine. Jody had just been through eleven hours of labor, and so they didn't spend much time after being released hanging around, although they did briefly wave to the other family and their baby leaving. Twenty minutes of driving saw them home in Moose, Wyoming, and there, Jess was introduced to the animals that her family kept, the two mustangs, the dogs, the chickens. She grew up surrounded by animals and her family, which wasn't just her mother and father. No, family included most of Moose. Not even a town, but an unincorporated area with most people owning inholdings within the Grand Teton National Park, Moose people tended to stick together.
And so, Jessamine grew up. She was thrown onto one of the broke mustangs before she could even walk, and was brought out into the wilds of the park once she was old enough to sit up in front of her mother or father. And so, Jess grew up, finally learning to control the old mustang mare on her own when she was six. Jody, who had run barrels for fun when she was younger, finally rolled the barrels back out, setting them out and sending Jess to run around them, first herself, and then with the mare.
However, her parents knew that she would never be content with the plodding, grandmotherly mare, and when Jess was eight, purchased a new BLM mustang, adding him to the family, and leaving it to Jody to train him until both parents considered him safe enough for Jessamine. Only then, on Murr, did she start showing, just around the home, whipping her way around the barrels that they set up, and getting faster each time.
A couple of months out from her fourteenth birthday, driving home from an ordinary grocery-store trip, a driver hit the family's truck side-on, causing a collision that required an ambulance for most involved. While the bed of the truck was hit, meaning only the death of the family's collie Luxor, the car spun into a ditch and rolled. Once at the hospital, Jessamine and John were quickly checked over and declared fine, if a bit shaken, although they were all blood tested upon entry for fear of internal bleeding. Jody, however, had broken her arm in the collision, and so the other two stayed until she had been X-rayed to fix the rotational movement of the bone.
It was there that the nurse made an idle comment to Jessamine about being adopted herself. Jessamine, already worried from the crash and resulting hectic, burst into tears, turning to face her red-faced father. John, always cool and collected, asked the nurse what she meant by that comment, because he remembered bringing Jessamine out of the hospital all those years ago. The nurse, backtracking, brought in a doctor to explain the situation. The doctor explained that, while both of Jessamine's parents were of the AB blood type, Jessamine herself was O, something that could not be explained otherwise, even by infidelity.
It took some time to sink in, and while Jody begged Jessamine not to ask for a genetic test, the girl did. Her mother, not wanting to hurt the girl even further, reluctantly allowed her to go forward, and soon, they had the results that Jody had been dreading... Jessamine was not her daughter.
After some strong discussion with the hospital, and assorted threats about lawsuits, the truth came out. That other family, from nearly fourteen years ago, had had an O and an A parent, meaning that a switch was possible. They would call the other family, the hospital staff offered, and ask them for just a genetic sample, just to see.
However, that other family didn't want to go sending their genetics to the middle of Wyoming. And so, the Mars family showed up on the Smiths' doorstep, and everything went from there. After meeting, the four adults chose to undergo genetic testing to make sure, and from there, the plans for a malpractice suit were starting to be worked out. However, Jessamine's... Father? No, sperm donor. Yes, that. Jessamine's sperm daughter was some sort of big name, and he didn't want his precious Liana in the midst of the media, because that was apparently a concern for him. After talking to the Smiths, they made the decision that Jessamine should go to boarding school, with Liana, where the girl was set to go. While nothing was ever said to her, Jessamine knows that her sperm donor made sure that her application was processed to his wishes, and while the fact that Blue Ridge was a riding school, she still felt guilty about being accepted simply because of someone she barely knew... Using his money to get her in!
Pet Name>> Pan
Registered Name>> GFX Pantalaimon
Age>> One and a half years
Gender>> Neutered Male
Species>> Mustelid
Breed>> Ferret
Registry>> N/A
Personality>> Pan is very much a loving ferret. He's never met a stranger, because anyone he ever comes across is just another friend, or a toy for him to play with. He adores attention, whether that be from Jessa or from his sister Kirjava. He enjoys playing the clown, and if his antics ever go wrong, his face just screams 'I meant to do that'. He's very easy to get along with, although he may not be the brightest tool in the shed... Try as she might, it takes a reminder in how leashes work every time Jessa puts Pan's harness on.
History>> Pan and Kirra were born in the same litter to a ferret breeder in Wyoming, and from there, Jessa picked them out to take them home with her, a pair because school would keep her away from them for a large portion of the day. The two learned to play with each other as well as with their human, and got introduced to many things around the Smith's farm. From there, it was only natural that they come with Jessa to her new school, since her parents didn't want to have more animals to care for.
Appearance>> Sable
Pet Name>> Kirra
Registered Name>> GFX Kirjava
Age>> One and a half years
Gender>> Spayed Female
Species>> Mustelid
Breed>> Ferret
Registry>> N/A
Personality>> Kirra is the head honcho of the ferret troublemakers. She's wicked smart, clever enough to judge any jump as to its possibility, and curious enough to knock over the trash can if something smells interesting. She tends to be a little bit more independent than her brother, happy if she gets to explore with or without her human or other company, but she lives for her harness. It gives her a chance to roam around new areas and see what trouble she can get into next!
