Personality>> Zohariel is still a nervous horse, although some days are better than others. Sometimes he can be a total wreck, unable to stand still or to focus on the lesson at hand, while on others, he can at least focus on what he knows and calm just slightly. At least he doesn't have a problem with random starts, as his flee response has been shaped into a startling and then a turning to Jessa for reassurance, true to the thought that if she's not worried, he doesn't have to be either. That being said, he is very in-tune with his rider, even if it isn't Jessa. He absolutely hates the farrier, causing as much trouble as possible in his effort to get away, although at least his hooves are of such strength where he constantly goes barefoot (and yes, part of Jessa's reasoning for wanting to be a farrier is to ease his fear by performing his hoof care herself). He prefers pasture or drylot to stall, even in the coldest of weather, although he is thankful for a rug now that he knows what they are. He is herd-sour, and dislikes striking out on his own when he's been riding in a group for a while, or leaving his pasture, although he'll come when Jessa's whistle calls him.
Caution Around>> Stalls
Basic History>> Much of Zo's early history is still unknown, and will remain so. He was caught by the BLM when he was estimated to be about four years old, and was gelded straight away. From there, he was sent to auction, where he was snatched up by the Smiths, with the hopes that he would be able to capture Jessa's love like Murr hadn't quite managed, if the girl formed a bond with the horse while training him. While his training progressed, Jessa kept riding her previous horse, Murr, although every day a few hours were spent with Zo. When things changed for Jessa and she knew she was going to be going to Blue Ridge, she had to make the hard decision between Murr and Zo. Deciding that Zo, while he wasn't ready to compete yet, was ready to at least ride in group lessons for her equestrian classes, Jessa decided to take him along. Where else to help the gelding fine-tune his turns and such than at an elite academy?
