Stable Colour>> Greyish Blue
Height>> 16.1
Personality>> Buttons is slow to get moving at times, and because she is a large, round, opinionated mare, she tends to drag her rider down on the forehand a bit. She is strong, and requires a good school from a trainer from time to time to remind her of her place. When she is well-schooled, Tinsley and Buttons make quite the dominating pair. Because Buttons tends to get a little too lazy in the junior hunters at times, she would occasionally refuse if not enough leg pressure is applied at the base of each jump. Tinsley struggled with moving up to the larger height of 3'6" on Buttons, and was able to better do so on her sister, Teagan's, equitation mount. For now, Tinsley is comfortable with the mare, but will get tense if Buttons begins to refuse fences. Buttons is decent with water spreads, but may refuse if the liverpool is longer and in a jumper-type class.
Despite the struggle with the bigger heights, Buttons was decided to be the horse Tinsley brought with her to school for starters. She is the most dependable and is the horse that Tinsley has built the greatest rapport with thus far. In new surroundings, Buttons is as level-headed as any seasoned school horse.
Caution Around>>
-Grain/feeding time- the mare will get pushy and anxious. She paces and sidesteps if someone is carrying a bucket and she is not allowed to have some. She will step on toes and may knock people over if they are in her way/immediate vicinity.
Basic History>> Buttons spent the beginning of her life in Holland, where she was brought around as a young jumper prospect. She was schooled to second level dressage before she was deemed to be much too slow to campaign in the jumpers seriously. As a five-year old, she was imported to New York, where a well-known trainer began to put miles on her on the show circuit. Tinsley was getting too comfortable with her medium and large ponies, and wanted to move up from the pony divisions. Buttons was purchased for Tinsley as a seven year old, and taught Tinsley the ropes of the children's hunters and as an introduction to equitation medals and casual jumper classes. Because of Buttons' forgiving nature, Tinsley was able to make many a mistake on the mare without much repercussion.
