Petrichor is a stubborn and disgruntled horse; he always has been. For most people he is an absolute bear to work with, he pretends he's lame, he complains and pussy-foots to no end, and he acts as though he's forgotten how to do even the most basic riding. However, if Kensi is in the saddle he performs as though he is aiming for the Olympics. Oh he still complains and sulks with her, but it's even more of an act than it is for others. Corrie loves to perform and underneath his coarse outer shell is an absolute ham and a complete ladies man. If a pretty girl offers him a carrot, he'll bat his eyelashes and flirt his heart out. With men, Petrichor is better than he once was, and will eventually accept stroking or treats, but he will not stand for a male to be in his saddle. Corrie has been known to fake ailments since he was a colt, but he does have moderate allergies and is on a specific diet. If he doesn't have the right food, he will refuse to eat it and sulk about being so "mistreated" for days.
Caution Around>>
Men. Petrichor is not a fan. He also knows when someone is intimidated by him and is not above taking advantage of that. If a male approaches him with confidence, he will generally begrudgingly accept the attention. But if they hesitate, he will pitch a hissy fit that puts toddlers to shame. It is not advised that anyone of the male gender approach Petrichor without Kensi nearby as he is less likely to behave when she is not there to reprimand him.
Basic History>>
Petrichor's breeder was not an unkind man, but his horses were bred to be hearty, obedient, and geared to men, as the breed standard dictates. When it became apparent that he was plagued with allergies and his stubbornness was not simply teenage rebellion, he was put up for auction. Petrichor passed through a number of trainers and breeders, all of whom attested that he was smart-but incurably stubborn and altogether an absolute ass. Due to the fact that Lipizzans are known for working better with men, Corrie had yet to have been blessed with a female rider. At the age of nine, Petrichor was somewhat trained and no less the headstrong young colt he'd been since he was two. Fate works in mysterious ways and as fate would have it, Henry Lawliet and his niece, Kensi were visiting an auction looking for a pony. Kensi was just like any other six year old; horses and ponies were all the rage. They had yet to even make it to the ponies because she felt the need to stop and see each horse they passed. When she spotted the snow-white gelding snorting and sulking in his pen, she had run to his side, ignoring any warning from her uncle or the sign instructing people tp avoid the horse. When her Uncle Henry caught up to her, he was surprised to find the (infamous) Lipizzan nuzzling the little girl as she rubbed his nose and told him what a pretty horsey he was. Kensi had been taken by the horse on the spot and begged her uncle to get that one rather than a pony. Her uncle gave in and the pair went home with the stubborn terror. Henry Lawliet quickly came to realize that Petrichor's trouble was less with training, not to say he wasn't still more headstrong than a mule, but more with men. Kensi's uncle chose his best female trainer to take care of his niece and her new steed, and the pair flourished. Kensi and Petrichor grew up together as the best of friends, and while he is to this day stubborn, grumpy, and a hater of men, he had loved the little girl since he'd first met her and they were paired as perfectly as they could be.
