Personality>> Kiah can be described as slow to warm and introverted. Not the type to flit around and be a social butterfly, he rather lets his friends appear when they will, made by slow and steady situational contact and time spent together. Kiah can be guarded, and not terribly bright when it comes to discussing anything remotely emotional in nature. These traits combined have somewhat stunted and hindered his adult relationships. Because of this, Kiah's idea of a relationship is a one night stand he makes breakfast for, if it even gets that far. He's not thick, but doesn't understand when he's being hit on and fails to understand anything less than a direct approach. That holds true for the rest of his life as well--direct is who Kiah is as a person. This earns him a reputation of being rude, or hard on students. Truth be told, he just has no clue how to go about sugar coating anything the way proper society does.

Kiah is a recovering alcoholic and been sober for one year.
Appearance>> At just a hair over 6 feet tall, Kiah is of average build. He is well muscled, but not ripped, his body hardened after years of working on horse farms and riding. His most distinguishing feature is his long, lion's mane of hair. Falling just past his shoulders and a thick, dishwater blonde, it's a magnificent feat that has taken the better part of five years for him to grow out. He also has a dark, well kept brunette beard. Underneath all of the hair are a pair of azure eyes, usually hidden behind aviators or shaded by his hair.
Markings>> Kiah has a handful of tattoos from his younger days, though nothing recent or easily visible. All of his piercings have long since been removed, that part of his life behind him.
Medical History>> Kiah has been an otherwise remarkably healthy individual. He grew up without any serious affects, the only injuries a result of his excessive drinking in his early twenties that led to a serious spill on course and several broken bones including his arm, a rib, and his jaw.
Criminal History>> Remarkably, Kiah's criminal record is squeaky clean. It's not that he never did anything illegal, he simply never got caught. The small mining town he grew up in shared a single sheriff and his deputy and both were far too drunk to ever be of any good so there were plenty of fights, vandalism, and shenanigans a young Kiah got up to that were never caught. As an adult, his drunken mishaps stayed mostly to himself and any fights were never reported.
Full History>> Born in a small mining town in the mountains of West Virginia, Kiah spent the first part of his life unaware of much of the outside world. He started riding young, climbing onto little feral ponies that wandered around the farms in his small town. His father and mother both worked hard, scraping by to provide the basic food required for their children to survive, trapped in the inescapable poverty of the town. Being left largely unsupervised, Kiah hardly went to school and learned to read solely because the one day everyone in town had off was Sunday, and everybody went to church. Kiah learned to read the bible first, and everything else came later. At sixteen, Kiah's father died in a work related accident after a tragic mine collapse. His mother, beside herself with grief, locked herself in her bedroom a few night's later and started to drink, not stopping until the day she died five years later.
Kiah left the small town before he was seventeen, finding a job as a stablehand and groom for a large Thoroughbred farm in the lowlands. Through the years he went from farm to farm, moving up from muck pusher to exercise rider and trainer for various barns, never getting too close to staff, just arriving to do his job then going home to drink himself to sleep. Eventually, he began to drink even at work, a flask tucked his his jacket at all times.
Hezekiah had started showing, finding the off track colt he'd picked up for a few hundred dollars from his old boss several years earlier had an incredible knack for jumping. Kiah became what you might even call successful in the showjumping and eventing world. He'd picked up several other mounts, and went from being groom to being rider. It wasn't to last forever, though. As Kiah's drinking worsened, so did his form. After a particularly bad season, it was one of the last shows before winter set in that Kiah's life changed very suddenly and dramatically. Not nearly sober enough to be tearing through a cross country course, Kiah set his horse up wrong coming down an embankment. The young horse couldn't recover, and crashed into the log, shattering his front cannons. He was destroyed on course. Kiah was rushed in an ambulance to the hospital, where they set about plating his forearm and wiring his jaw shut. A week in the hospital, then another six followed on a drunk farm.
It's been a year since the accident, and Kiah's yet to touch another drop of alcohol. After coming out of the hospital, Kiah took a six month break off riding before starting again, this time with a fresh, five year old Irish Draught gelding half given to him by an old employer. Kiah moved to Blue Ridge to take a job at the school, deciding to focus on what he did best for a while, which was care for horses, and slowly build himself and his horse up to peak performance.

Personality>> Perhaps because he's been treated more as a human than a dog, Jake is an intelligent, personable, loyal canine companion. He compensates for Kiah where his owner falls short, happily greeting strangers, cuddling, giving kisses, and even talking when the occasion calls for it. He's a well trained dog, enjoying the company of just about any human on the planet. He travels to shows with Kiah and loves to run errands around town, dutifully riding shotgun as co-pilot.
History>> Jake was purchased by Kiah as a nine week old puppy, and they've been together ever since. From the time he was a pup, he's gone everywhere with his owner. From sun up to sun down, he's out at the barn and going to shows. The longest he was ever separated from Kiah was after the accident, where he didn't see him for two months. According to Kiah's old boss, Jake spent every single day laying in front of the front door, staring with giant, sad eyes, waiting for it to open.
