Blue Ridge is a fictional town located deep in the heart of Kentucky. It is home to one of the most well known equestrian academies in the United States. Students and staff from all over the world join the academy for what it has to offer. Do you have what it takes to join us and learn from the Academy?

Anne stifled a yawn as she looked around the room for one last time. It was, in her opinion, far too early to be awake considering that it was the holidays. It surprised many to learn that the brunette was not naturally a morning person. While she might indeed be one of the first to rise each day, and one of the last to sleep, that was not out of inclination but rather due to habit. And so at nine o'clock on a beautifully sunny day, she was rubbing her eyes as she looked around at the chairs set out in the studio.
Anne had been rather looking forward to this clinic. By now, she had seen most of the students around and about, but she generally didn't recall names. She was hoping that this would be an opportunity to get to know them better, as well as having some fun with her subject.

Summer vacation or not, Cara was still up with the birds. Being the only gymnast on campus meant that she had the complete attention of the coach and she still felt that he wasn't pushing her as hard as he could, she she just pushed herself even harder.
After showing and changing into her dance clothes, she made her way to the dance studio. Toeing her shoes off at the door, she picked them up and tucked them into her dance bag before she looked around the studio and forced her eyebrows to remain still as she looked at the chairs. Walking over, she placed her bag against the wall and removed the bag that held her pointe shoes, though she didn't put them on just yet as she walked over to stand near the chairs.

While her body was screaming at her to stay in bed, Amare was curled up in the crook of her knees, softly snoring, it was the holidays, there was no reason to get out of bed before lunch, she didn't have horses to care for... however, the thought of doing a dance clinic with one of her teachers for the fall was too much of a temptation for Tori to pass up.
Bouncing out of bed, she looked through her closet. When she decided to put being a professional ballerina to the back burner, she hadn't replaced her uniform when she had outgrown it, other than the slippers of course, because she wasn't giving it up all together, and pointe wasn't something you just stopped doing.
After pulling on her pink dance capri pants and a crop top covered with a slightly baggy grey t-shirt, she grabbed the bag that held her slippers and after a quick glance at the map on her desk, she made her way over to the gymnasium, and then down to the dance studio. Toeing her shoes off at the door, she picked them up and carried them in, walking over to sit on one of the chairs, her legs bouncing up and down in a mixture of nerves and excitement.

"Good morning, girls!" Anne greeted the first two to enter with a cheery smile. "Up bright and early, I see." She was currently wondering whether or not anyone else would actually turn up, since she was honestly rather surprised that even these two were here so early. Yes, they would probably get up if it were an equestrian clinic, but she was teaching dance. And she rather suspected that the girl who she had met in the barn had been talking about her; she had definitely detected one or two looks from students. But she wasn't here to grow paranoid, she was here to teach. "We'll just wait and see if anyone else is going to arrive, and then we can get started."

Gerri had woken up early that morning to take care of Genie, and had then been at a loss for what to do with herself. A note on the barn's board had been her solution, and so, after a quick shower and changing into shorts and a loose shirt, Gerri was on her way to the dance studio. Sure, she had no experience with dance. But wasn't that what the summer was for?
As she arrived in the dance studio, she hung by the door for a moment, smiling at the teacher and the other students, "Is it okay if I don't know much at all about dance?" She didn't want to interrupt if everyone else had the basics down.

Cara bowed her head at the greeting, deciding not to comment that she was always up with the birds and this was late for her.
She nodded to the news of waiting to see if others would turn up, as she really didn't see the point on running a clinic for two people, not when she knew that the vice principal probably had more pressing things to do. She flexed her ankles as she waited, starting to warm her muscles up even before they started.

Tori gave the woman a bright smile at her greeting. "I was too excited to sleep, and getting up to dance seemed like a much better idea than annoying my cat with my restlessness!" She said.
Her legs continued their excited movements as she nodded to the woman's next words. She was hoping that this clinic would at last give her an idea of what to expect for the classes when school started up again in the fall. She grinned as another girl entered. "All the more reason to be here!" She said in greeting.

"Of course, of course, come in!" Anne exclaimed sunnily. "Just as this young lady says, that's all the more reason to be here! I don't think anyone will have much experience with what I plan to do, so we should all be on an even footing." Or at least, that was Anne's hope. She had planned for a number of different levels of dancers, and with any luck, it would work out- unless, of course, her own relative inexperience threw a spanner in the works.
She returned to her small talk. "Oh, do you have a cat?"

Gerri smiled at the brunette girl's warm welcome, and as the teacher echoed the sentiment, she nodded. She stepped further into her room and sat in the chair next to the welcoming girl's seat. She seemed friendlier than the smaller girl, although Gerri felt like she'd seen her around before.
She listened in on the conversation, trying to figure out the thread of it.

Cara's eyebrows rose as she suddenly wondered of being here was a mistake, but she was here now and wouldn't leave until dismissed. After all, she could pick up something new to add to her floor routines. That thought brought a small smile to her lips, thinking of how their coach would react to her changing her traditional routines.
The cat question caused her forehead to crease, as she tried to work out what having a cat had to do with dance.

Tori grinned as the girl from the door walked over and sat beside her. "Hi, I'm Tori." She said with a slightly less lunatic, and more warm smile.
She grinned toward Ms McDermot. "Yes, I have a tabby named Amare!" Pride and love layered her one as she spoke about her cat. "She has the biggest green eyes I've ever seen in a cat!" She shrugged and stopped herself before she began to tell Amare's life story... or as much of the story as the girl knew. "Do you have a cat?"

"That sounds nice." Anne commented to the girl with a smile to match her own. "I'm afraid I don't have a cat at the moment, although I was considering getting one- what would you suggest?" A glance at the clock reassured her that she still had plenty of time on her hands, and she relaxed back into her chair- the conversation might have little to do with dance, but it was a subject which interested her immensely. Anne had always loved animals.

Gerri sat quietly as she listened to the conversation. She'd been considering getting a cat too, so it was an interesting topic, but for now, she didn't have anything to add. It had only been a bit of a daydream at the time, nothing too specific. But it might help against the quiet of being alone.

Cara focused on warming up her muscles, allowing the conversation to pass over her. She knew that she wasn't good with small talk, so she didn't bother trying to pretend otherwise - and the fact that she didn't have any pets meant she had nothing to offer the conversation. It dis seem, that cats were a popular animal companion, as a number of the students here seemed to have one.

Tori nodded her head, she couldn't imagine the place without her cat around, she was sure that Amare was the reason that she was able to settle into life here so quickly, and didn't fret over her horses travelling without her. "Is there an animal shelter in Blue Ridge?" She asked, wishing that she had thought to explore the township before being brought to campus. "'Cause if they do, you should look there for a cat!" There were always loads of adult cats at shelters who were looking for a second chance at a loving home.
